Lol. I guess most RPGs that I have played have options for both first/third person view anyways. As far as RTS, a real time slasher could be cool xD Anyways. Something else I want to see would be the modding capability be really built up in the next couple patches. I had heard about python being implemented to enable some deep changes to the game, and that would be cool. I would really like to try and do some large mods.

I think that originaly what attracted me most to Elemental was the way they presented the world as being so emersive. I really got sold on how grand the game was going to be, the way it seemed to be larger than life. I loved the idea of restoring a broken world, and i'd kind of like it if that whole theme was brought back into the gameplay. Because right now it's not really there, aside from a few graphics changes and the ruined temples/lost libraries. Personaly I would like t

it seems silly to me that people are still occasionaly talking bad about Elemental. I mean, everyone knows it's messed up. The thought that the game could be completely fixed between release and now just seems silly to me. It must be a huge project to fix the game, probably taking more resources now to fix it than to finish doing it right in the first place. So really, serious judgement has to wait for the expansion at least. Might as well not try to over-analyze things unless

For my part I really enjoy the idea of life comming back to the lands as your empire advances - dried out riverbeds have water in them, perhaps even fish and fishers when zoomed in, at first the landscape is ultra-dead, but eventually forests and grasslands start to show up. Animals. New animal resources. That sort of thing. Concidering it's suppost to be post-apocalyptic, it's a shame that you see some color before the world starts comming back to life. Besides, anyone who doesn't th

You know... being someone who used to breath fantasy for a while... I kind of appreciate that SD has tried to make a world completely thier own as opposed to just putting together all the pre-built ideas. I guess it is kind of like when I picked up the book for the Nobilis RPG or the Mage/Changling RPGs from WW... a breath of fresh air. I suppose the problem is they didn't really have the time/money to develope the lore (aside from the Hiergamenon) of the world to the degree
Which leads me back to the point that anyone can be offended by any word if they so choose to be. When do you ascribe taboo status to a word.. when one person is offended or when many are? Is it a simple majority.. or is offending one person enough to bar the usage of a word? For example.. in my first post on this thread i used the term puritanical. Now that may offend puritans. So should I have gone out of my way to find a differ
What it is with language and action, is that it really should be reasonable to try to not be offensive to people, unless the situation requires it.A valid statement. However the mere use of a taboo word doesn't necessarily denote an intent to offend.
That's true, but the person hearing can be offended regardless of what the intent is. And in general, that's the important part when it comes to things like this, don

I read most of those links. Honestly it left me kind of going, "Uh, okay." Certainly more thinking about how the world works and questioning assumptions is a good thing. I suppose that article was aimed at the whole "but that's how it historicaly is" line of thought in this thread... but aside from that, it's a break from the blatent objectification of women that happens in most other games aimed at a male audience. Honestly, I suspect I (and perhaps the others too) made the hist
...Apparently you study neither entomology nor history, and its quite apparent by your rant attempting to apply logic to the illogical cultural taboos of modern society. Further more the level offensiveness of any word is fully subjective. By your logic if people are offended by any word regardless of the actual semantics behind it then it must be considered a taboo. Apparently you neither understand what a cultural taboo is nor

Lol... after reading this thread I love this forum even more. Actual intelligent discussion! Wow. But really I think the OP has a point... but flat out censorship would be bad I think. Still I think that it is reasonable for people to try and restrain themselves from something that is largly unimportant, like cussing, if it makes another person uncomfortable. Really the power of the F word, for instance, is shown when someone who doesn't cuss says it. Then you KNOW something has

You know I bet they would add the ability to do this in the future.

You know, it would be really cool if the devs put in hooks for us to basicaly redefine parts of the game. As in, say a levelup function: LevelUp() if in ModList() there is a LevelUp function run that else do normal stuff I have a feeling that might be what they're going to do. In the end I hope they give us hooks all over the place to change most if not everything in the game.

Many times I don't feel like I can make horses a priority for reasearch though... and that's even using the mod where you can make a building to give your horses/wargs. The games when I don't play with that mod it's useualy a very late game thing. I guess you could get a group of champions together on horses you buy in the stores, but that also doesn't seem likely to happen for me until late in the game. However I do enjoy being able to have calvary groups.

As a side note, I think the spell of making is way to easy to pull off... but that might just be because the AI fairly easy to beat and take shards from. A couple times though I have started with all 4 shards really closeby where I could just snag them without a fight.
how do you make barren land furtile? I cast the spell that was suposed to revive the land but it just make it look better not furtile.
That's what confused me in the first place too. But it's not suppost to do that - it changes the terrain bonuses that kingdom/empire people get when fighting on barren/green terrain. It's basicaly a pre-combat spell.
See my post here... https://forums.elementalgame.com/402940 I outline all the starting spellbooks. As a preview, Kingdom units get a 25% bonus on fertile land, and Empire units get a 25% penalty. Desecrate does the opposite. These are castable anywhere, too.
So basicaly they change the terrain that you fight on, and t

I've used it to cut myself off from a couple AIs who were menacing me in order to have space to cast the spell of making. I've raised land to provide a pathway around a rival empire's territory to a place I wanted to found a city. I've cleared paths through mountains for caravans. They're actualy pretty useful spells for misc. work. I'm still waiting to hear what revive and desecrate do though. Edit:
I'm still waiting for

I would love to see more clothing and equipment. At some point it would be kind of nice if we got a way to differentiate who could wear what, even if it was just in the code, so we could play around with it. So on a historical note, since it came up :p I'm pretty sure there were no gender differences for armor. There were probably too few female fighters to warrent anyone learning how to make armor specificaly for women, anyways.

32 Replies 24,107 Views

Actualy now that I look again I think he means individual heros in the same faction. Spellbooks wouldn't help with that, but they could differentiate spells between factions, I think.

8 Replies 6,069 Views

Heaven, how do spellbooks work? Couldn't you theoreticaly use those if we have access to make/mod them?

8 Replies 6,069 Views

You know... I was thinking about this when I realized the females in armor didn't have even the bare indication of boobs... lol. But really it's something I appreciate, from an egalitarian and a historical perspective. I suppose if people really want female chars to look more female, they can mod the game and put in all that stuff. Now what's strange is that I don't recall ever seeing many graphics bugs ever. Hardware differences, maybe.
