All I care about is that I have a forum to: Voice my concern or idea Know it is read and considered Whether it is implemented into the game or even responded to in the forums is entirely their call and I fully respect that. Any effective plan (EWoM) requires a solid strategy, execution, controls, and a feedback loop to gauge whether the plan was effective to meet the goals and objectives. As a customer, SD allows us a voice in the feedba

Awesome. Hopeful SOV's will stop the kamikaze attacks and glad we can raze from the get go. Derek - unsure what coding is required but is it possible, if a SOV dies, that the remaining cities and associated resources pass to the monster and ruffian faction instead of just poofing out of existence? I know there's a bajillion priorities and this could be a complex change but it would go a long way (I believe) to shore up a currently nonsensical mechanic. If it's too low of a prior
Brad's vacation job as AI guru isn't mentioned! [e digicons];P[/e]
I heard the OWN network (Oprah Winfrey Network) is making a new game where your sim can switch channels between Oprah, Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, and Jerry Springer.
Hint: raise/lower land to nuke forests spawning mobs. Also do it to make straight-shot caravan routes/roads to help with logistics (i.e. fill in lakes, remove mountain barriers, etc).
I like this starting custom Charisma build: Str 8 Dex 7 Intelligence 5 Charisma 15 Constitution 10 Bard - reduces hero cost Attunement +2 mana Wealthy +1 gildar Meditative + 1 tech Brilliant +1 arcane Green Thumb +2 food Naturalist for mine to capital Find Najaba, marry her, and imbue (for Dominate and Assassinate) Male offspring end up getting
Once I finish digesting Heavenfall's modding threads I'm going to make a Hugh Hefner mod complete with centerfold quality champions and units.
edit I just witnessed the ai kamakazee his sov against my army controlling his city, causing him to lose the game.
Yeah, Brad needs to fix the Kamikaze SOV's along with the civilization-wide disappearance of every citizen and town if the SOV does happen to die.
If I get my hands on that spreadsheet I'm going to macro a pivot table and vlookup the concantenated formulas.
I just popped a nerd boner. Schwing... Schwing!
The biggest problem with gaming in general these days is it's ALL about publisher's playing 'evil dictator' over your potentially innovative, quality work. I hear it from friends working in the industry constantly. Working developing games these days can truly be hell on earth. Elemental doesn't have this problem. Civ V is the poster child for this problem. As much as it saddens me because I once loved that series, Ci
Their hires prove the dedication. Let's just be patient and, as customers, grant the time they need to pull it all together.
Brad needs to clone himself or find his AI mini-me.
I have been pushing the training idea for a long time. It would add so much to the game.
There must be a carrot for replayability. Ask Bugs Bunny.
This thread reminds me: was the Black album a sell-out by Metallica?
Froggy since in the past you have asked about this sort of thing, i dunno if anyone has mentioned it but lately i find when i face multiple battles in my zone of influence i always buy meat jerky to heal my troops in between fights. Might be another reason to add a cooldown to shop items spawning in the stores.
Actually, the game lets you use them in fights - eating salted pork or drinking nectar doesn't use any action points either. Pop 20 or so on
I have experienced this through past builds off and on but the game would recover. In 1.11 it's CTD'ing with a DX error. Damn AI is too intimidated and would rather cheat. I've fallen, and I can't get up. Hayelp! http://pastebin.ca/2040084

I give it a 7,000 out of 10,000. I played a few games with Brad's build and enjoyed it. I was on a medium map, custom SOV, Gilden, max players, ridiculous all settings, where I had one city as a chokepoint with like 6 behind it safely protected. Instead of roflstomping the AI, I built that bad boy up to a fortress, trained some dragons, and rocked out an 11 man hero team. Wanted to experience the end game tech trees and such. Lo and behold, my fortress city suddenly lost a bunch of its b
I don't know how to mod but I do know how to program my tv remote. I'll pick this up in a jiffy! Seriously though, thanks. Following.
Jon Shafer was in charge of a team that made bad design decisions that made it through the internal development and QA process and right out into release. Fundamentally broken game design decisions. It's entirely valid to question his design abilities and wonder what he took away from that experience. If what he took away is nothing and if he stands behind the decisions made in civ5, I do not have confidence in his abilities on t
I know what you're thinking. "Did he write six posts or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a an internet nerd-rage post, the most powerful post in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
Rant: After seeing the amount of suggestions for improvement given on these forums, it seems like making a civ-like fantasy strategy game is virtually impossible, because everyone wants every single bit of fantasy lore ever imagined implemented into the game. That's ludicrous. Suggestions can be cool, but they should have a bearing on improving the game as it now stands. Let the developers create something that w

Truth be told it wasn't an iceberg that sank the Titanic; it was Jon Shafer.
