I've noticed if a city is unable to build an improvement due to low materials or insufficient space that if I correct the issue, I'm unable to build anything until the next turn. For example, in the below screenshot I did not have enough materials at the start of the turn to build a garden. However, I cancelled a few units in other cities and freed up the materials (hence the 54 at the top) but notice the garden (bottom left) says it needs 35. I have enough atm but can&

Season 197 of a 1.19j game here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19969679/Elemental/119j/119j_197.EleSav I took over the settlement of Food3 from Kraxis a few turns ago. When I went to build caravans it only allowed me to create 2, not 3. I think there must be an unassigned caravan somewhere under Kraxis control but regardless, shouldn't the caravan count reset when I took it over (i.e. allow me to create 3 and
I'm usually smart enough to not stick my hand into a hive of Africanized honey bees but this time I'll do it. I despise trolls - destructive critics should get the hell out, constructive critics should stay. However, an honest feedback loop is necessary for any product or service to improve. Otherwise the providers of the product or service are deluding themselves. Not everyone posting criticism or popping off emotionally is a troll just as everyone who defends Brad or
For me right now it boils down to: Stable engine so both new vanilla content can be added and modders can get back to work Mod support based on what the modders want/need Everyone in the community has their own patience tank - some expire earlier than others. Have I had moments of "when in the hell is the engine gonna be stable" thoughts? You betcha. I remain optimistic the oom's and bugs will get worked out but this can't go on indefin
If you some of the stuff you mentioned have been addressed in the beta patches. Open Impulse, got to options, click the button that says show pre-release versions. I recommend trying out the latest 1.19j[rc].
the game last nite started doing some weird stuff and now it literally probably plays in non fullscreen how it should have done it the first time. When I took off fullscreen to stop the call out errors it would still full screen and when I hit the windows button it would just bring up the taskbar and wouldn't have any errors. Last nite it first had the game main screen all messed up off in an angle and then when I re
Yeah it's primarily due to how the game allocates memory. It uses 50MB to save but the fragmented memory causes the game to exceed it and then crash.
Hi - please check out these threads for some background on the OOM's. The OOM's issue are still occurring and Brad explains what's causing it. Read the OP of this thread: https://forums.elementalgame.com/407256 Read replies 16-28 of this thread: https://forums.elementalgame.com/404664 Hopefully we'll have this behind us very
We are not going to have an early public beta of Fallen Enchantress. Its beta will come out largely feature complete.
How does one join the lucky crew of private beta testers?
If I only chose another path in life I could have programmed games instead of doing boring accounting crap! [e digicons]:waaaa:[/e] On a serious note, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Totally agree with Vandenburg. I even looked up what hash table fragmentation means online. You learn something new every day.
Cool, thanks for the update.
@CodeCritter - I remember one shotting a unit with Shirley due to the Assassinate skill. Maybe a one shot with assassinate or the killing blow with assassinate causes this?

Their faction power is stronger than yours because basically they have more settlements, resources, and military. I think the AI is probably putting more into their warfare techs thus their military might is stronger. Focus on obtaining a stronger power base early game and I promise you&
In my mind its like call Magic the Gathering a RPS design. Sure there are cards and strategies that are better against some and worst against others. And Im sure there are examples of card (or creature) A is better than B which is better than C which is better than A. But thats just a small part of a much larger picture, where the cards have strategic strengths and combinations.
The fact that you just mentione
Hi Lord Cobol - you might want to post your last couple of saves to help out. Brad was using mine and the save helped him reproduce my most recent oom. Just a suggestion. [e digicons][/e]
Brad - as mentioned in prior posts loading a game within a game is quite dangerous for memory usage. Please see this recent thread: https://forums.elementalgame.com/406297 I took the 1.19j turn 111 save and recorded memory usage per load until oom or CTD. Here's the save and below are the measurements: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19969679/Elemental/119j/119j_
Hi - as someone who's been playtesting each patch for several months I think I've got a pretty good grasp of early game. Here's my advice: First two techs to research are Equipment and Leather armor. This allows you to wield oak spears and gear your sovereign or champions to tank effectively for awhile. A champion duked out in all leather armor with an axe and shield can run with like 15 defense early game. This is more than adequate to fight off monsters and early
Brad - if it's helpful I can provide saves showing progression of the game. I save each turn manually right before I end turn so it's easy for me to throw them into dropbox for ya.
I've been living in your saved game. I appreciate the Frogboy. I don't know how CariElf would feel about things though. Anyway, lots of interesting things here. So, why do games crash during autosaves? The answer: memory fragmentation. Save games allocate 50M of memory to do their thing. At a certain point, with so many things being allocated and deallocated you eventually end up with the largest piece of
@csparkin01 - what version of the game are you running?
I don't think so but I recommend trying it to confirm.
In the game options switch to windowed mode from full screen mode. That should help a ton.
If your dodge is negative the Guardian Aura spell makes it worse by decreasing dodge by 50% instead of making it better. Please see below. Before I cast the spell I was -6 dodge but -9 afterwards.
