Wow, this is exactly what's happening with another user. Game is crashing at the point of the debug that says "Killing Player X".
Just had this happen in 1.19k. Attacked drone with Fanboy - damaged and counter damaged Attacked drone with Frogboy - damaged and counter dodged Attacked drone with Frogboy - damaged and counter damaged Attacked drone with Fanboy - damaged and counter dodged FREEZE - had to auto-resolve to clear combat Auto-resolve screen results DO NOT match actuals of combat - auto-resolve indicates Fanboy took no damage, actuals Fanboy took 3

Ahh - I found him by moving closer to his ZOC. Still unsure if that's by design or not (i.e. what is the actual trigger to find a faction)?
I walked up to a Gilden pioneer and for some reason the game is not recognizing that I've contacted the faction. I can talk to the sovereign via the talk option in the pioneer and thus trade, etc. but note that the faction is not officially recognized as found. Is this by design or a bug? Hi Fellas - just did my first tactical combat in 1.19k. The floating counters are still MIA a considerable amount of the time. Thanks.
I noticed that on some of my games that it tends to crash and cause ram usage to skyrocket when loading a saved game from playing a game... don't know why that happens... very strange it does, could that be caused by a memory leak?
Yep, memory leaks. The crashing on saves isn't from the game itself exceeding 2GB, it's from the save exceeding 50MB... as I understand Brad's explanations.
well no wonder it crashed, 16x16 tile map... that's 256x256 sector blocks, that'll always happen on such a large map. The game can't support such a large map...
Hi Eternal - that's the issue. The debug says its 16x16 but the actual game is not. Please see this thread here, particularly #20: https://forums.elementalgame.com/404664 . In my oom example fro
Oh, CTD means "crash to desktop" and yep, oom means out of memory. Thanks for the karma! Yeah I would definitely keep reporting but you are experiencing something that I haven't. It appears your save is reliably producing a CTD instead of an OOM. Have no idea why and I'm completely speaking out my arse because I know nothing of programming. Keep posting away! Hi - looks like 1 crash made it to season 44. It didn't oom right, just CTD? I also noticed your debug says: Debug Message: --------------------------------------------- Debug Message: --------------------------------------------- Debug Message: Map Size: Debug Message: Sectors: 1 x 1 Debug Message: Tiles: 16 x 16 Debug Message: Tile Vertex Resolution: 5 x 5 vertices Debug Message: ---------------
Yeah, something is not functioning correctly with the cast on a stack thing. I have a recent post from the 1.19i build here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/407134 . It's still happening in 1.19j. Here's my post from the 1.19h build: https://forums.elementalgame.com/406811 .
If I bought Elemental last year do I get a discount? JK!
Good stuff, thanks.
It's interesting the debug seems to always say this: Debug Message: Map Size: Debug Message: Sectors: 1 x 1 Debug Message: Tiles: 16 x 16 Debug Message: Tile Vertex Resolution: 5 x 5 vertices Debug Message: --------------------------------------------- Debug Message: --------------------------------------------- Debug Message: --------------------------------------------- Debug Message:
What size map are you playing Harpo? I notice the debug indicates 16x16 but if it's anything like my recent oom the map size is wrong.
Double Post
Uno!
I think the main point here is this: do we all think Brad would screw over the team of people that helped build Impulse? I don't think so. It appears to me Brad is extremely loyal to his peeps and they are to him. I highly doubt Brad would have sold Impulse to a bunch of scavenging vultures - those people are his friends and have families. Just don't see it.
Yeah, I agree. I'm glad Brad has a future plan on how to handle a kingdom/empire once the sovereign dies but it doesn't change the fact that they need to be careful. I'd be of the mind to do away with sovereign sniping all together and always allow AI sovereigns to escape to their nearest city regardless of where they're currently positioned but that would eliminate all the cool options around dynasties, who takes over, etc. I'm not sure what threat level check&nbs
This reminds me of an AI query of mine during the beta stages. I was worried about exactly this kind of behavior, but fanboys shot the question down. I'm glad you keep the squeaking going. We need the oil for our squeaky wheels! I haven't been paying much attention since the game hasn't had any updates lately besides the memory ones.
Thanks for the necro link there. Good stuff and basically the same exac

Brad - I have a new post about a suicidal sovereign in 1.19j. Please see here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/407308
Hi Brad - can you please take a peek at this when you get a moment? Here's an example of a recent suicidal sovereign. Please note Magnar is by far #1 in the game with 877 FP while mine is at 350. The AI decided it was worthwhile to move his sovereign unescorted into my territory and demolish a darkling camp within my zoc. Needless to say this allowed me to teleport my hero stack to the tile next to him and wipe him out and kill the #1 faction in the game(by far). Save
Kraxis Sovereign just touch of entropied my units from 5 tiles away. The spell is a 1 range spell, correct? Here's my season 202 save: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19969679/Elemental/119j/119j_202.EleSav . Take my 5 army stack and attack the settlement of Oppaaqakey. Kraxis sov will just nuke my units with that spell. A wee bit overpowered...
