I think this might be a neat mechanic for multiplayer but I don't see how the AI could realistically use it. Similar to the AI's inability to use teleport in any fashion, either offensively or defensively.

Cool, Mikey likes it.
I think Heavenfall nailed it. What level of complexity should the economic system have? It really boils down to providing relevant player choice balanced against the proper level of micro. The devs could overkill it by giving 10 queues per city and then we could have a slider saying how much % of the effort should apply to each queue, adjust over time, etc. But that's a hell of alot of micro. One queue is simple and elegant and meets the dev design focus. Just my opinion of course.</
This is really encouraging; I like the farmers/workers/rebels thing from MOM a lot; great mechanic, and I like that terrain locally matters initially, but won't be the driver for growth, like it is in Civ. It keeps us out of the whole "workers/improvements" mechanic, which is good to see. I love the idea of having to take population to make an army; it was one of the things MOM missed, and provides a great additional mechanic.&
Looks good. Two remarks though: 1) I'm assuming the single build queue for construction and training was done for gameplay/balancing reasons? I rather liked Ewom's separate queues. Once you have more than a few dozen people living in a settlement, there is no reason why construction and training can't be done at the same time (immersion-wise). I just hope it's not because there is so little to build the construction
I've been playing Master of Magic recently (last played back in the 90s). Got to say, great game still, truely amazing. If that game was released today with a modern engine but the same concepts, content, etc and perhaps a bit better AI then I think it would easily sell at least 10% of the number of copies Civ 5 sold, potentially 20-30% despite being less main stream. Even 10% would be half a million+ sales. Sure take out those getting it f
Meh, I dunno. I think it looks sub-par compared to EWOM. [e digicons];P[/e] I kid, I kid. Looks great!
I've been playing a decent amount of MOM lately which has given me a good compare/contrast. I'm in a current Impossible game as Sorcery using Beastmaster race. One of the opposing factions already has stack of doom invisible sky drakes and I'm rolling with Minotaurs (have Adamantium though). On top of that the same wizard has suppress magic on so I can't cast a damn overland spell. The AI has me by my balls. Have never experienced that kind of spanking with WOM but I'
Cool, I'll give it a whirl.
Derek - how did you get a picture of my last family gathering? I farted in the pool and the outcome wasn't pleasant... Doth spell must henceforth be named "Flatulence"
Sweet. Although I want a 6th option: the iWin button. [e digicons]k6[/e]
Cool, following.
This is a perty little lady. If I was single I'd propose.
Derek hired a few of us from the boards to start play testing about a week ago. It's been kind of a secret, but he's going to be making an announcement about it later today or tomorrow. At first, I was a little surprised by the transition to First Person from WoM. But, I continued to play and really love it. Although still very buggy, and some of the commands don't work, it's a pretty cool game. I know

Cool, Brad. Can't wait to check out 1.4. I want to echo Heavenfall and others, however, and respectfully request that any final patch version is polished before release. I haven't really played the game since the 1.20 beta series because, well, the 1.30 beta was fraught with issues. That in itself wasn't a deal breaker since it was a beta series. However, the final patch version left too much on the table that set the game, in my humble opinion, as unplayable. I'
I've been playing Minesweeper. Kick ass.
@Winni - thanks for the link on MOM. I bought it from GOG a month or so ago, had no idea there was a cool update like that. Will check it out.
Quoting Nakisisa, reply 1In 1.3 the minimum size of units you can train has been increased to 4. This is not supposed to effect pioneers but sometimes it will try to build them as size 4. Nakisisa Really? That kind of screws building troops early to defend against wandering monsters leaving your first city to be conquered very quickly. : /
Yeah, you're forced to keep you
Quoting Winnihym, reply 13I've had the same feelings, Das; I'm sympathetic. At this point, I think the radio silence we're seeing from Stardock is in preparation for PAX in a few weeks, I hope we'll see more after that.. I'm hoping the radio silence is because they learned something from WoM and Brad's thing for talking up stuff that never made it into the game. High expectations and what ended up being

Some of the people "bitching" have spent hours if not days of
Yup. Teleport is a distinct advantage over the AI unless the AI knows how to both use and counter it.
