In one of my games, I had a level 3 Magnar attempt AND complete the Arena of the Slakhanan on turn 20. I do not want to spoil too much, but this is a extremely hard quest (at least Deadly, maybe Epic) with an awesome reward. Hell, the second best reward is awesome. Magnar should not have had a snowball chance in Hell to complete it. He got 3 levels and I would not be surprised if he got the reward as well. This is a major issue. I have seen the AI wander around with

I saw the an AI (Gilden, I think) with the spider riding quest heroine on turn 30. The AI can solve quests that are WAY out of their league, at least on ridiculous difficulty.
Harmonius, you make no sense. With all the things your sovereign had going for her, she could have made the kill, almost as easily and with more reward, with a practice sword, and it would have not been much harder with a rusty sword. And of course, unless you can stack damage (Burning blade, lethal line, swordsman line) you are better off with a more damaging blade. Hell, I cannot imagine a situation in which I would not rather have a skath blade, let alone an assassin blade, s
No, it is not. It's not the way I'd done it, but it is the way it is. The occupation penalty will slowly go down.
I would not be so quick to dismiss what SeanW3 is thinking about. He is not saying that advances in technology should not bring something new and exciting to the table, he is saying that advances in technology should not mean that everything old becomes completely useless. If done right, his way would lead to armies composed of different units, each with a function and purpose, and none useless. Right now, I build at most three kinds of units, and in most games, it's d

That should be exactly what he should say when you ask him to surrender.
Absolutely. Same for Late Irane. Nothing wrong with getting a head on a pike when you defeat a sovereign, though. Especially not for Empires. As for Kingdoms, one could receive a statue that can be erected in one of the cities
Turn 1-?? Borislav was the son of a Krax centurion and a wealthy Eastern noblewoman. He received an upbringing anyone would have envied - his parents wealth allowed him to develop his natural brilliance, hardy physique, and even his gift as a channeller. For years, he served in Karavox armies, reaching the rank of general. He was put off by Karavox's cruelty, and disapproved of his tole

This will be my final play-through of the vanilla Fallen Enchantress. It will be on Ridiculous in version .992. I do not expect to play much of the official version after release, and you will probably figure out why after reading about the troops that the AI uses on ridiculous. In any case, the usual rules of my play-throughs will apply - no restoring but for crashes, abusing every tactic still left in the game, and of course, a mix of in character stories and out of char
And if you are looking at upgrades, in this post I have more example of the above, as well as some related wonkiness.
I have seen this as well, though I normally keep surrender level set to normal. However, it is extremely odd to see a solo sovereign with no cities refuse to surrender to an opponent with 8, whose army is standing next to her, ready to kill.
I have had a sovereign ready to surrender in .982, but on high difficulties, I prefer to sign peace, get the trade/research bonuses, and avoid the 'conqueror' diplomacy penalty
OK, back on topic. Now that I have won two in a row, I believe that I can make my final 'ridiculous' playthrough... with a decent chance of winning. The settings are what you would expect - ridiculous world/AI, balanced/normal/default everything, and as overpowered a race/sovereign I can come up with. Right now, I think the way to go is Krax/lucky/defensive/enchanters/master scouts/light plate and a wealthy fighter sovereign with Earth/Water.

By the way, is it possible to make a trait that gives +5 weight limit, and +2 initiative when using a bow? It would reflect the overdeveloped upper body archers get, and Tarth and Yithril would have it available after they research one of the archery techs. &nbs
I have been playing Ridiculous, and frankly, it is a bit harder than it should be for me to enjoy it. I mean, I have won the last game, but it was a struggle 'till the end, and not in a nice way. When your level 12 units with 80 dodge are barely the equal to enemy's level 4 crappily designed infantry, it's hard to enjoy yourself. On the other hand, the level beneath ridiculous is trivial when I play the way I play on ridiculous (custom race, wealthy sovereign)
Can you just take it over?
This is a very nice ability. Would you happen to know what the prerequisites are?

Then again, they could hold off for another year and it would be an even better game then too.&
I've had it happen as well, and it was when I changed "Enchanted hammers" and "Inspiration" to Auras in a fortress. The counter went to 5/3. I changed it back after I had produced the troops I needed, and it did not increase the second time. But when I made my next batch of troops, it went to 7/3.
