I'm all for economic supply chains... those are my favourite types of games. Phooey to those who think that makes things tedious. Refining systems can be made wonderfully complex and fun. There'd need to be a much better trade system in place, though, to make this useful.

[/quote] They won't need to open up the engine source code, just the gameplay source, the same way Civ 4 did. You can change everything except the graphics engine.

Can't we just agree that disliking Steam is ok but disliking a game because of Steam is silly? I think it's fair to say that someone who buys a game on Steam should review the game; it's ok to take away one star if they hate Steam and say so. But if they're not going to buy it because of Steam, they shouldn't post a review at all, because other customers are looking for reviews of the game, not Steam; they already know it's on Steam and they want to know if the game is worth it. Very poor. It's quite passive and doesn't prepare for war at all. With all the AIs on at ridiculous, the only limit to how fast you can steamroll them is the map size, since you have to walk. It will take you around 200 turns to finish any game if you play well, 300 if you play casually. Brad's promised AI improvements for 1.1 so we'll see then.
