I like the idea, but I would like to wait until I see their fix to the current system before suggesting such a huge overhaul. Though i have to say, more custom = better in my opinion.

For the most part, I agree. I mean I almost feel like there is one victory condition/path/tech. How do you win the game? RUSH rush like you were playing starcraft as zerg. The main key to victory? Spamming units, spamming cities, and crushing the AIs before they can react. If you slow down a but, do some quests, research non-war techs you suddenly realize that because your army is weak 100% of the factions in the game have decided to attack you. So much for diplo
Me and my brother would always fight over the manual on the way home from the game store. Reading the manual was almost as good as playing the games.
I think the main issues is many fights, that I will win without losing anything by charging forward and attacking, (no tactics required) kill my army if i auto resolve with minor losses to the other side. This forces me to waste time on tactical for trivial battles.
1. Make magic effective 2. Make champions effective 3. Make diplomacy effective
Are there issues with the game as is? Hell yes. Does that make it a bad investment? God no. Sure, in my opinion most of the crashes should have been gone before release, but honestly I wouldn't have wanted to wait longer for the game to come out either. It is a bit annoying to buy a game only to have issues preventing basic gameplay, however, it is very clear that stardock is actually working (and rather quickly) to correct these issues. There is nothing wron
Elemental has several listed win conditions but too me it seems more like one win condition with several names. For example to win by killing everyone else, you rush an army and attack early (kinda like playing starcraft), but if you want a diplomatic victory, what do you do? Well you may think you talk to your opponents, sign agreements, and give gifts, but no, that isn't it. You rush an army so that every nation you encounter wont declare war on you, then you run around ki
So, if i allow more than 3 gb, will it speed my game up? I have 12 and it would be a shame to waste it if allowing say, 6, would make it faster.
BoydofZINJ is right. As of now I can't say it is the heir of MoM, but I think it will be when all is said and done. I would definitely suggest buying it, but you may want to wait a month or 2 for a things to get ironed out a bit.
Elemental is a good game, but you can't really play as a caster now. I would hold off if that is what you are looking for, however, i would buy it for sure eventually.
Yeah CR seems to only be affected by about 20% when you kill the entire other army. As far as "slamfest", I am pretty sure they prefer to hear about screwed up parts of the game. It is part of making it better. No one said the game was bad or anything of that sort, I was pointing out a specific problem with game mechanics. If 1 sovereign trait can cause a free win battle to become an auto loss dues to missing 100% of your turns, something nee
Is moral just a way for the computer to cheat? Why do I go into a fight in which my army strength is 300 and theirs is 150, only to have my side stand there due to low moral (starting at 10) and not get an action for the first 7-8 rounds??
Yeah auto sucks badly I auto an army about 1/4th my size and die... I attack and battle by hand (after loading) and don't even get hit because of their low attack scores.... WTF.
I wouldn't worry about restarting, currently physical sovereign are WAY more powerful than magical ones.
I wonder if these are the same crashes i had before 1.06, just that the game gets a chance to say what is wrong now.
In order to abuse rings and such you need to spend 10s of thousands of gold on it. If you instead spent the same amount on units you would crush the champ with all those rings no problem.
The new version has corrected the issue.
Has anybody considered that just because there's an exploit in a game doesn't mean you have to abuse it?
Not sure why would would consider trying to tone your champions up to be equal to normal units as being an exploit or abusive.
Are there people really arguing against making TB better? Lol if you don't want it to be interesting them use the auto-battle.
My main issue is that it seems building for normal combat is WAY more effective than making a caster, which is silly in a game called war of magic. I am not saying magic needs to wreck everything, but I shouldn't need to cast 20 spells to have 5 hit for less damage than normal attacks. It is also stupid that your children are SO much better than your sovereign because the have the mutant mana regen gene (100% of the time).
It is not something that happens now and then, it is 100% of the time. It just seems like there is a longer pause between all combat actions than one would expect. When i search for debug.err I get no results. I have not yet tried 1.6, I will do so and respond to this thread.
Shards should be gravy, not required for magic to matter in combat. Magic should be reasonable without shards and better depending on the number you hold, otherwise, you have to get lucky for your spells to matter in a game.
Is it just me or is tactical combat very slow? The animations occur at a reasonable speed, but there is a pause for several seconds after each action of a unit. Attack, wait a while, attack, wait a while, attack wait a while, next unit.... I find myself going away from my computer to wait out the slow combats. I have a decent machine 2.93 ghz i7, 12 gigs of ram, geforce 9800 graphics and do not understand why combat is so slow. Is it some kind of hardware issue on
Overall I find the game to be enjoyable but my god at how weak magic is. Any farmer with a bow and arrow is more effictive than your channeler, who constantly misses with his/her blizzards and rians of fire, and when they actually do hit they do so for 1-10 damage (even with the 30-40 int you have). It is a bit silly that a sovern with a bow and some strength does so much more damage than one throwing around the forces that shape the universe. Why would anyone serve them? Wh
Yeah, as far as i can tell most magic is pointless. It misses constantly and does very little damage. Your mighty wizard is much less able to compete in combat that a peasent archer? WTF. Why would channelers be in charge of anything? Magic needs help, i mean really even if shards were working it is pretty silly that you have to get lucky on shard locations for your magic to matter in the slightest. BAM my spell did 10 damage.... too bad that unit has hundreds of
