The AI is just too tough, and that includes both monster and kingdom/empire factions. The problem lies with the fact that a lot of us players simply want to enjoy a large fantasy sandbox to role-play in, when others, including the developers, want us on-edge, sweating out every minute to "win".
No, it was really pretty bad. Simtex knew how to design a great game, but they tinkered with it endlessly, and kept trying to fit more in. There were lots of rules problems, and the AI was truly terrible upon release. Several crashes, too.
You can also go into the CoreAbilities.xml file and change it, yourself. If that's something you don't want to bother with, you can open it up, find this line in the DecalonAbility section: 2 ...and change the 2 to 1. Then save, and exit. At least it'll knock a point off the unnecessary cost.
On a related note I recently ran into the same problem. I set the game on 'easy' thinking I could have some fun with a sandbox game. However, in the current game the first monsters I've run into was a small group of darkling warriors (fair enough), an ogre, a troll, another ogre, two other trolls, and an Ashwale Dragon, in that order. That seemed a bit excessive; the only thing I could really do was go back to town and wait for it to gr
Yeah, they changed it to special abilities instead of just magic. Hope they change it back.

That's a great idea, Brad. For what little my opinion's worth, I say go for it. :)

It doesn't seem as though the merchant building is working as it should. It's supposed to generate 2 gildar/season, according to the tooltip, but gildars in a city before it was finished is 0, and the turn after it was finished, 0. Unrest is 10%. I haven't checked out markets.
Agreement with CogBurn, though I'd like to see better faces and hair styles in the sovereign and race designers, and (if possible, without sacrificing much) a higher resolution.
I suspect you mean that the pioneer is on the same square as your army, but not in it. Click the square. It should change from the army stack, to the pioneer, and you can move them out. But if you want to add them to your army, you're going to have to get rid of one unit to fit them in. At least, until you learn one of the techs that increase the number of units permitted in a stack.
I find the artwork well done, but the coloring is monotonous, and the sovereign/race characters you can create have caricature faces that are more like masks than anything else. Mind, this is just my opinion, but if you're going to title a thread, "Say what you will, the game looks beautiful," and imply that the visuals are beyond criticism, you're going to get criticisms back.
Insane. Shyeah. :D
Tuidjy, I can understand your skepticism. But just in my last game, I watched the AI stupidly plant a city and an outpost near two groups of monsters, and I watched later on while two of the AI's armies were destroyed. In any earlier game (admittedly about three or four betas ago), the AI planted a city between two of mine, right near a dragon. [e digicons][/e] As one of my units ran on by, the city became an ex-city. In that last game, I also
There are a number of monsters with a series of behaviors that are randomized. The AI is fearless in placing cities and outposts next to them, but I've come upon a few of these monsters while they were destroying opponent armies and outpost buildings.
To delete factions (a champion + race combo) right-click on the champion from the New page, after the main menu, and when asked about deleting, respond yes. To delete a race, go to My Games/Fallen Enchantress/Race, and delete the race from there. There's no way to do it from within the game.

I noticed this under the changes heading in your install instructions: Summoner: +2 Levels for Summons +Starts with Summon Shadow Warg +4 Customization Points Yet all I could find was the Archsummoner as a profession when I played the game after installing the mod, who receives no customization points.
