apparently there's this thing native in win 1803 that lets you choose what gfx card you use (if you have multiple) with any program. settings->system->display->gfx settings.. then you pick the exe (from the classic app option) and set your preference. beats me if it does any good, as intel igpu is disabled by default in bios when a discrete card is present.

i don't have major problems. just some quirky minor stuff. wonder if patch tuesday will fix any of those.
what are the chances the replacement mobo will have latest bios flashed already? XD asus bios... apparently support doesn't last that long according to their user forum (re: spectre/meldown on older models). and really hate their changelogs. "updated compatibility" or something is typically the whole note. which says absolutely nothing. if i'm going to update bios because intel (or whoever) released some security fix (yeah. another one. where someone can delete your bios), i would lik
fun. someone found hardware flaws with the arm/asmedia bits of the ryzen chips. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/03/a-raft-of-flaws-in-amd-chips-make-bad-hacks-much-much-worse/
Are you talking about eigth generation intel processor, or are you talking about intel chips with a amd graphics card?
kinda neither. i was referring to what BigDogBigFeet was talking about. kaby lake-g will have amd gpu and intel cpu in 1 package. those are for higher perf
i think those intel/amd hybrids would probably end up on anything but desktops.
"real game companies" are everywhere.. the huge ones have offices all over the place (mostly after gobbling up studios) and not limited to 1 location.
Quoting AzDude, reply 17 I probably make and view more videos than anybody ( Dreams ) and I have No problem with Chrome all works fine for me Facebook included only use Chrome Me too.
i have the philips bdm4065 ... i guess the biggest difference aside from size is the older model (4065) is va whereas the 4350 is ips. its ok, i sit around a meter away though.. i'm getting a bit of tearing when i play stuff like ass creed black flag (free from ubi over x'mas!). i can also notice some weird thing when scrolling up and down a webpage (sort of like ghosting.. color of text/whatever bleeds into the white bit). the desktop is set at 4k but double dpi, and with a 970 i only play s
you know.. just bookmark a certain subreddit. they basically list out most of the deals out there.. /gamedeals/
it's like that everywhere i think. definitely in uk at least. people are encouraged to switch utility providers for better deals, but if you use isp email, for example, then it's a pain to have to switch your email every few years just to save money. the competition authorities should force those companies to offer the same "intro" prices to old customers who renew their contract really, as switching for the sake of switching is pointless and doesn't encourage real competition.
i think chrome just got patched but you could have enabled a flag before. and i think it's more like 20 years rather than 10? anything intel but itanium is vulnerable or some such. it's not just the google guy.. and they are building on someone else's research / speculation XD (last year or the year before i think. the kaiser stuff)
could well be... but more reboots is kinda meaningless? XD i could understand that to be a problem for data centres and servers... but home users? i'm assuming reboot means os prompting you to reboot (or increasing the frequency of scheduled reboots in them big boys) rather than kaboom and rebooting your machine all by itself XD just goes to show how unorganised/rushed the whole thing is, regardless of whether the info embargo was prematurely breeched.
this is getting more and more screwed up.... still haven't got microcode/bios update for my motherboard (z170 based)... and now linux distros are reverting the microcode fixes (redhat, ubuntu, mint)
out of curiousity and somewhat off topic, does windows make the drive gpt or mbr by default? ie.. without the user choosing one or the other explicitly. or is that dependent on the bios setting (uefi mode only / uefi+legacy)? not that it should matter as it's below the 2 TB size limit.. but still.. curious.
what are the chances that georgeou (spelling) is the emperor? XD
you are not done with this round of patching until you've got the microcode update via bios. (not yet released for most things) there's a game company which blames meltdown/spectre for its problems. but they aren't home users like most of us. https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/forums/news/announcements/132642-epic-services-stability-update -- fun thing.. the win patch borked some old amd machines https://www.techrepublic.co
if you are going for dual channel, you have to install them as pairs (bigger pair 1st), no? not sure what you mean 1 stick of each making 24ghz per channel. googling gives this random quote.. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-3453470/motherboard-dimm-slots-supports-dual-channel.html "The extra two slots just allow for more ram to be address even though it is still only dual channel. The problem with populating all dimms with Ryzen is the f
it was a jokey comment. just saying there's kinda no point deciding whether to go intel/amd based on security... as they will all eventually be found to be crap. ... what do you mean peeling banana.. just wait for the banana skin wedge craze.
yay.. amd bug disclosed. hide your motherboards https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/01/06/amd_cpu_psp_flaw/
why didn't it come out years ago... because the researchers only found the hole last year. XD where did you read intel knowing about this for years? people are only talking about its ceo potentially getting done for insider trading for selling stocks last year and not the other years so far. why did everyone keep silent? because you don't really talk about holes you can't fix unless you want attacks out there months before you've got your fixes out. seriously, it's not like linux has
someone did speculate since some drm/anti cheat have a lot to do with virtual machines and what not, they (and thus the games with them) get bogged down... who knows.
you'll have to wait years i imagine for proper hardware fix. as for chromebook... (or chromeos) check https://support.google.com/faqs/answer/7622138#chromeos
heh. more vulnerabilities. the other one (spectre) affects amd too. though... the article is kinda confusing as it says amd is not vulnerable to meltdown which they label as variant 1 and 2, but then says amd is practically immune to 2 but will have to wait for microcode for variant 1 or recompile software with countermeasures. ok.. the article got it mixed up.. variants 1 and 2 are spectre and meltdown is 3. hence amd immune for 3 but iffy on 1 and 2. https://www.theregister.
supposedly it depends on what you are running. games are not affected that much... it's said. i suppose of more interest is what intel is doing to fix this for future architectures.. and which ones will get the fix. too late for anything due in the next year or 2?
