Brad, I am sure you know marketing better than most of us, definitely than me. I'm just worried about the priorities. Take the comparison of GalCivII to WoM. The 'M' factor was certainly there for WoM, a real buzz, dare I say hype. And YET you tell us it made less than 1/10th of the sales of GC2. I think we all agree that this was because it did not end up being a good game. (I would not be so harsh at to give it a 2 but below 5

My head is spinning. [e digicons]x_x[/e] Really. Because... The bad news is the good news. Give us a beta when it/you are good and ready. Okay, I'm a little sad to wait another week to play a new iteration - but I'm very happy also because I assume that means it really is going to be new and worth playing/beta-testing. Last thing I want is some buggy piece of crap. But the good news is the bad news. What hav

I personally agree with your suggestions. However the developers (I think Derek in particular) have expressed as a design principle that they want quick battles, no more than three minutes (and this presumably includes late game 9 vs. 9 unit match-ups). (As an anecdote my most epic battle thus far with FE was the second battle that Procipinee fought in a 0.77 game. She found no champions or useful gear. After dealing with a Rock Spider which was nesting in
The #1 thing holding us back on having "more" stuff is memory. We've been optimizing memory a lot in the past month so that we can stuff more but it sure would be nice to have even another 500 megs to play with. Yes. It is worth adding that if you add a lot of techs you will have to make all the techs somewhat cheaper to keep the balance of tech points to end of tech tree progression the same (if you want that...). My personal preference would be for more graduated techs but I'm sure there will be lots of other opinions. There is also the issue you correctly identify of what techs you can reasonably be expected have at each point of the game. One reason for not havin

It's horrible. It's so bad that I frequently move my armies one tile at a time, and move them piecemeal through towns if speed is critical. <br

A comprehensive and accurate analysis. Good one. I'm not sure about the diagnosis, just as I'm not sure about what the developers design intentions on taxes are at this point in time (beyond that they want to keep gildar tight in the early game). It occurs to me that there are ramifications with the unrest reduction spells/buildings which are (or should be) available in the later game. (And my inner conspiracy theory self keeps suggestin

It doesn't fall into the 'easy to learn, hard to master' category but rather the 'hard to learn' category. I told myself no mods but this I could not resist, so I downloaded but haven't played yet; sort of saving myself for 0.87... but if I get bored with it as quickly as i did with 0.86 I know what I'll be playing in a weeks time. [e digicons]:D[/e] Just a suggestion on the previous post about custom factions and capital bonuses - would it be possible in a future version to tie the capital bonus to the race used by the custom faction? (It must use one of the ten

If I was designing the armour tech line I would have: Basic leather as first tech. This would allow access to second tier, improved leather and basic chain (different techs). Taking basic chain would allow third tier of basic plate and improved chain (while improved leather would lead to superior leather as third tier tech). The defence bonus of armour would be pretty much (maybe slight variations) the same at the same level tech (i.e. superior leather = impr

Yes, but even on the easiest settings the CPU sovereigns get several free level-ups (=bonuses). From observation it appears that the CPU does not have a fog of war either. I would not be surprised if the computer players get other bonuses. Oh, but these would be different bonuses than those referred to in the setup tooltip?

I like the single production queue. I also like having a 'lose all accumulated production' penalty when changing production. It means you have to think about what you are building/training and take into account the opportunity cost. Choices... Sure it's simpler if you can reorder the queue at will but it is not as if the game is too difficult at the moment. Build queue time should be looked at as a limited resource and chopping and changin

Yes, you are most probably right. I was pursuing my musing about what happens to a champion who dies once they already have all the injuries.

Hm, so if my champion dies 17 times does that mean that they get a second broken leg, or lose the second ear or eye? [e digicons]:waaaa:[/e] (Thanks for this list though.)

The only thing more brilliant that your modding tool are the modders who are going to use it. [e digicons][/e] As to timing, you guys probably know best, but I would say around the time the first patch comes out for the 3rd beta (i.e. the second version of beta 3). Right now I think the most valuable use of beta testers time is to improve the basic game, and potential modders are often your sharpest eyes. But I would not leave it unt
... I feel that we should start off with a lot more of the basic techs, like some basic armor, weapons, and being able to mine or farm, etc. Starting out with clubs and no armor feels boring. Getting the 'Path of the Govenor' trait should allow champions to get XP from the production of units and buildings in the city which they are stationed. They would need to be present in the city for the entire time the item was being produced to get the XP. Rushing should probably not allow any XP.
