Judging by the latest Beta videos out there and the gameplay screenshoots in the dev journal, the corpses disappear right after the unit is killed of. It might be different in the day-0 version, but I wouldn't count on it. Blood and gore is not the realm of Elemental.
I hate to ask this (because I can already guess the response) but for those of us living/working in Asia where it is already the 22nd. We're going to be waiting until the 23rd right?
well, yeah. [e digicons]:|[/e]
yes, imbue them with your essence or recruit them.
As I understood pre-orders can download and play the gold version of the game on the 23rd and have to wait till the 24th like everyone else to update to the day-0 game. I also did not receive that email.
I loved Master of Magic, didn't really get that much into Lords of Magic or Age of Wonders and this game looks exactly like my cup of tea with all the features that I missed: 1. I love RPGs and like almost every game that tries to combine any other genre with RPG elements. As I am not the most hardcore TBS player (not a good one at least), added RPG elements will be perfect for me. 2. I like the organic-style city improvement. 3. I dig the art style (except for the cha
The campaign isn't where the RPG focus of the game comes from. It's largely an introduction to the game and its world as well as shows what you can make with the mod tools.
Yeah, I realize now and I have no gripe with that, I am sure you all did a great job of implementing the RPG elements into the randomized game and the modding tools. It seems my Planescape Torment tormented heart got a hold of me and deluded me into expecting a g
8 hours seems short for a single player campaign, but remember that the meat of the game is in the randomly generated non-campaign games and the mods. It doesn't make sense to devote the company's resources towards a 20+ hour campaign when most people don't play these types of games for that.
Don't get me wrong, I am sure that the heart of Elemental will be the randomly generated maps and I am perfectly fine with that, e
I have to play and "examine" the game first, but I plan on creating a campaign of my own if I can work with the modding tools ok, I am no pro. I already know the basic outline of the story though.
It took me about 5 hours to complete it. That's with me knowing how to play the game of course. I'd expect a typical user it would take them about 8 hours.
Interesting, so the 6 hour claim by the anonymous poster was truthful then. Thank you for the confirmation, even though I had different expectations for the campaign.
Last night I saw a post on the forums - before I could read it, it was deleted. However, the title was something along the lines of "beat the SP in one night". It's possible that the post was made by one of the few people who managed to download the gold version of the game. Or it could have been complete garbage.
I actually read that post yesterday before it got deleted and I reposted his claim today in another thread
I Pre-Ordered on Monday and just now got an email from Stardock saying "for users who pre-order it, you will be able to begin downloading it a day early on August 23rd."
I also pre-ordered on monday, but I didn't receive that email... [e digicons]:O[/e]
Seriously now, no need for the blame game. It's a combination of things: Some ambiguous information on Stardock's part and unckecked overeagerness on part of the Beta testers. It's no big deal. It's actually kind of funny if you really think about it. People looking back on the "incident" 10 years from now will fondly remember it and the game while discussing the abysmal state of the current gaming scene... [e digicons][/e]
These two things make the AI very problematic. It's something I am going to be addressing more this weekend. In the long run, it'll probably take about a year or two for me to be truly happy with the AI though.
How does the AI fare compared to other games of this genre and compared to GalCiv2 specifically? You think it will take a year or two to reach that level?
Never found the Death book. Lee
Admittedly, I am assuming here, because in the gameplay trailer you can identify a spell from the Life spellbook so there must be a complementary Death spellbook. Some other guy confirmed it.
There was an ingame faction editor like the Sovereign editor in the beta, but they decided to move faction creation to the realm of modding because they didn't like the results. According to Brad, all the abilities of the factions felt too similar. But there are some guys around who are already working on little tools that will help to create new factions more easily.
Thats a good idea, but maybe just a spell not a whole book that could be very unbalanced.
Why? Obtaining an unknown spellbook doesn't automatically provide you with all the spells of that school, you still have to research them in order to use them. On the contrary, it would actually provide for more tactical dilemmas, and tactical dilemmas are always good for interesting gameplay: Should I start researching the high-level Fir
I cant seem to figure out what ten unique factions means because there all human it seems. do they all have different army types to draw from.
Most of the factions are human-like, but you can train non human units by capturing a camp you find on the map, for example ogres. The unique part is about the respective technological fields (Kingdom vs. Empire) and specialities like production, economic, military bonuses and such. <p
Well, there is a Death spellbook to find, so I think it will focus on necromancy of some sort.

Awesome. So I assume your Sovereign can pick "Summoning" and "Enchantment" at creation stage, or is it somehow randomized?
