I have 0,76 still, I skipped a few updates as I was waiting for Beta 3. This must be the problem then. Well, ok, if it can't be helped, I'll install it again from scratch. Thanx everyone.

Last bump fishing for a dev...
Seriously, guys, at this point we can't expect the game to be revolutionized once again. Everyone is going to get something he doesn't like. I'm not a fan of Spells acquired through heroes instead of Research, and I absolutely hate "unlockable" heroes and lairs. Both are gonna stay. I just hope the rest of the game will make me forget about these issues, that or mods. Right now it's about the missing phases (finishing faction differentiation and then work on cities). I
@Glazunov1 I agree to a point, in fact for the most part I've been personally sitting back and remained silent, especially about things that by now I know are not gonna change, for better or for worse. Many have been doing the same lately, judging by the forum's reduced traffic (pre beta 3). Actually, I broke my silence only to praise Stardock's policies and general behaviour. That said , Frogboy DID start a poll and ask for a "verdict". Since they
Frankly the one thing that's keeping the game back at this point, imho, is the devs dismissing negative feedback from our part. Now I can't speak about Beta 3 since I haven't been able to update (see my post in the support forum). Anyway, I think it's happened at least once to everyone here: when we report about something that we feel off, we get told that maybe this isn't our kind of game. To which my reaction is, uh? Now I'm not saying the devs aren't wor
I've tried even scifi1950's suggestion. Still nothing, but thanx again. I hope the devs can help, I wouldn't want to have to download and install again..
I've tried both allowing and disabling the antivirus. Unfortunately the problem persists. Thanx for the attempt though!
I get the following message (which couldn't be copy-pasted incidentally, had to rewrite it all, very annoying): Elemental: Fallen Enchantress could not be located on your system. Re-install Elemental: Fallen Enchantress and then run this patch again.
You mean, they get spells by raising levels? If so, then yes. I'm glad they bypassed the WoM method, which comes straight from Master of Magic. Mind, I liked it in MoM, but there it was the only thing you researched. In WoM, it seemed overkill.
Hmm, ok, not too fond of this system, but maybe with more spells and heroes specialization it can actually work..

Reducing the number of "readied" factions seems the sensible choice. Alpha Centauri had 7 at launch and they were great. It's the perfect candidate field for future expansions. One thing I didn't manage to understand from the changelog: does magic work as it did before? I mean how heroes learn spells and all? Seems like a really great update anyway. I wonder how I will find the time for this between Skyrim and Legend of Grimrock! :)
If Bethesda has something to teach to the industry at large, it's that full modding support is beneficial to everyone. Ultimately, it's the reason I trust the general direction of the game and don't worry [too much] about details anymore, even when I don't like them. Modding will double the game's "magnitude".
All the base stats did was muddy the waters. Why have strength that gives +attack and +carry when you can just have a trait that is called "strength" and gives those instead? They were intermediaries with no purpose. And still, I will miss them. Having the basic strength, dexterity, intelligence, constitution stats makes the game feel old school somehow.
I think what I'm fearing here is a diminished RPG focus, with
I am skeptical in regards to the removal of strength, constitution, etc.; and the thinning of the tech tree. I thought the three was too thin to begin with.
Quoting, word for word. More simplification in areas that were already linear and streamlined. I am frankly a bit surprised. Still, it is what it is at this point. The other changes sound good/great. I hope they can offset what is lost.
ME3 is easily worse then ME2 by a mile, you can tell the team gave up and got lazy. There are tonnes of bad hollywood dialogue as well. The new character James vega is a total idiot. Way too many unskippable cut-scenes which will make replaying it a chore for those who tend to want to play through their games more then once.
Unskippable cutscenes, like Savepoints in other games, are just a cheap trick to extend a ga
EoB was my first RPG, if you'd call it that. As limited as the technology was at the time, wandering through its dungeons really gave me the shivers. The immersion was amazing, as without automap you really had to imagine yourself there in order to find your way through the corridors. Yes, I actually believe that even a simple "missing" feature like that made a lot of difference compared to nowadays' games. I truly hope this new title can capture a fraction of th
Awesome. And, to my knowledge, an unique feature for this kind of games. This is the way to go. Full throttle, MoM-style craziness!
In civ, you had your workers building farms, mines and whatnot, but here there are just special resources and cities. We can't even build roads. Thus, the sprawl of a large city matched the civ type 1 tile city+improvements. Taking away the sprawl without adding anything else in its place will be a mistake, I think; it'll turn attention to how barren maps are and how little you can do on them.
</
Hm. It looks like everyone's talking about the narrative of the strategy, and not the game itself. That's fine I suppose, there's plenty of time to talk about the game later, and the strategy is a very positive note to start this off on. However it's important that discussion of the game itself actually does occur before too long.
The discussions should remain separated. I may have a few issues still with t
I can only suggest one of Arthur Clarke masterpieces, "The Fountains of Paradise" , since its main theme is the construction of a Space Elevator. Well, I should probably say that its "main theme" is Man's delusional quest for immortality, but that would be OT :)
I was getting a bit disheartened and decided to wait for Beta 4 for my next try with the game. Now I want Beta 3 right now. Good stuff here.
One thing for sure: by separating the scales of a city's representation, you gain A LOT of flexibility, AND performance, while nothing is actually lost. I really don't see the downside here. Of course the various sub-mechanics would have to be balanced but the main idea is a winner. I truly hope it's not an April's fool or something.
I'm conflicted. On one hand, the proposed mechanic is neat and surely superior to what we have right now. On the other hand, I don't like a pre-set limit on the number of improvements. That's NOT how you push towards specialization. Look at Alpha Centauri or any other 4x game: players are NOT FORCED to go the specialization way. You could try and make generalist cities all over the map, building everything everywhere (barring mutually exclusive improvements or othe
