Touché, I guess... :-). I think there's been plenty of real discussion here. Like others who have posted, I am happy that Stardock is concentrating on the single player experience. Multi-player is better suited to FPS and RTS games imo. Even if Stardock eventually puts in multi-player support, I won't try it. That said, we all have our own desired "wish list" of features, and I certainly understand that some people really want multi-player. And I'm not going to look down on someone just bec

And you have to offer up a blood sacrifice to Frogboy.
This is a great thread! I feel like grabbing a bag of popcorn while I sit back and watch... er, read, to see how many more people ddd888 can piss off before the dust settles. Let the flames rage on! But seriously, folks, stop rising to the bait. You can't win, it's like trying to convince my 5 year-old daughter that sugar is bad for her. Logic just rolls off this guy like water.
I too love my Kindle. It's great for reading on the train on the way to work. It's also a great method of self-publishing for aspiring writers such as myself. I live in Japan and I just finished writing a short Kindle book about my experiences in the big earthquake last year. Fitting that I got it done in time for the upcoming anniversary of the quake. Check it out if you're looking for something new to read while waiting for the next FE beta patch:
I'm glad you liked my ideas. This mod excites me. It will add such a great layer of depth to the magic system! Can't wait to see how you tweak the game models to actually implement all these creatures. FE is lucky to have such talented modders.
To elaborate on my above ideas, here's some special abilities: pestilence demon - plague bite, can poison units by biting them, harpy - sonic screech, causes units to become immobilized with fear and suffer initiative and / or movement penalties, liche - mana drain, steals mana from spellcasters, ghoul - sickly aura, steals a small amount of up from all units adjacent to the ghoul, phantom - soul bind, temporarily paralyzes a unit, reducing its movement to zero, undead dragon - rotting breath, a

Poor AI. I almost feel sorry for it in the current build. Can't wait until it gets some teeth!
@Brad: in your xp code snippet, don't you have an extra +1 on the second line of code? Won't this ensure that even if you only have an army of 1, you'll only ever get half the xp the defeated unit is worth?
+1 karma for the great post. This is the kind of stuff I like to see: in-depth explorations of beta experiences through gameplay examples and nice screenshots. More please! Glad to see that the beta is improving, sadly I didn't order WOM until December 2010 so I can't join the beta yet. Been enjoying all the feedback posts though!
I still like the idea of splitting xp amongst all the units in your army. If you are forced to split your army for defensive purposes, then it stands to reason that the AI is pressing you pretty hard. Thus the brave defenders, cut off from reinforcements and standing on their own, should get more xp for their heroic efforts. So the way I see it, there is no "other side of the coin".
/signed I've enjoyed every single one of Lord Xia's posts. I say let him in, it wouldn't be a proper beta without his griping! And if no pink ponies are included out of the box, maybe Heavenfall can put them in as his first modding project.

Curious!
I don't really care too much about these nitpicky details myself, but your feedback is indeed constructive and deserves discussion. So I'll toss in my two cents worth:
1. In the video, the OK button is cl
Oh, and I know the real reason the beta was delayed: Lord Xia's ponies aren't ready yet.
So I asked Brad to postpone the public beta (sorry) and he agreed. We need time with the features set to play and tweak, to go through our games so that when you have a chance to play we are ready for the feedback you offer.
I'm mostly a lurker on the forums, I don't post much, but reading this prompts me to say: good on ya Derek! Take all the time in the world to make sure FE ends up being the wonderful polished game we all hope it will be, canc
Bows are still just each one better than its predecessor. There's no reason you would ever use a shortbow when you can use a yew longbow. It's just straight-up improvement. The weight increase is not important, because archers don't need heavy armor anyway. Longbows should, at the very least, be made something which cannot be used mounted. Furthermore, "Yew Longbow" is boring. Surely it could be replaced with a composite or
I enjoyed the original campaign. It didn't have a whole lot of depth, but it served its purpose, which in my mind was to act as a tutorial to introduce newbies to the game. I liked how it gradually introduced game concepts one at a time and gave the player a chance to try them out. But I was disappointed by the shortness of the campaign. When it ended, I was thinking "really? that's it, there's nothing else?". But like I said, it made a good tutorial and I

Hello. I'm the author of the Soulcasting trait for the Design a Trait Contest. My trait description is a bit long, so the contest page doesn't display it properly - some of the text gets cut off. [e digicons]8O[/e] I will need to edit it so that the whole thing will fit on the web page. So I thought I would re-post the full description of my trait here, so you can enjoy reading the whole thing as it was meant to be read: <p
Just played my first game after updating. The AI has definitely gotten better. I cranked the AI up to Hard, and it kicked my butt in short order. Granted, I'm new to Elemental and still getting used to the ins & outs of it, but this is the first time I've actually lost. By the end of the game, the AI was throwing armies at me consisting of 3 or 4 units each, with attack 15 and defense 7 or 8. My cities were too lightly defended and my troops spread too thin.&

Just downloaded the v1.11 update, very eager to try it out! The download was 8.64 MB for me, by the way, I didn't have the 1.9 GB download problem that other people have reported. I want to give a big thank you to everyone at Stardock who has worked so hard on this game! Your company has earned a new loyal gamer! Like many other people, I have been reading these journal updates and watching the progress of the game since its ill-fated launch. When v1.1 came out
