My plan is to, as soon as I know how, just plug in static, no art style, basic pokemon models, just to show that it works. The more basic stuff I can get working, the more likely others will join in. There's no way I could model all 151 pokemon, plus all the buildings and items, by myself. By the time we know how to rig and animate the models, I should have 20-30 basic pokemon models, some tiles, hopefully hair and clothes, and some basic UI changes already done. The

Push - Knock the target back one or two tiles Charge - Pass through the target while attacking, with a chance to knock him back Trap(s) - Set or hide a stationary trap on the battlefield, which goes off when enemy enters that tile Freeze - Turn liquid on map into solid ice, freezing units on that tile (may also occur due to ice magic) Melt - Turn solid ice on map into liquid, submerging units on that tile (may also occur due to fire magic) Wild Growth -

DAZ Studio and Poser have great user communities, tons of tutorials on modeling, rigging, and animation. The important thing, though, I think, is how rigging is done in Elemental. I'm not sure it's as simple as exporting the animations from your 3D app. When modders take off, maybe someone will post, "This is simlar to modding in ____," and we can look up tutorials in those other games' forums. I'm sure E

Same thing. It wants a usable XSI 6.5 directory. EDIT: It looks like all of the trial versions on Autodesk's site are 2011 versions. Usually older versions of trials are available on other sites, so I'm sure we can get them somehow; in fact, I've already found 3DS Max 2010 . But it would be much better if we didn't have to exploit free trials.

It's going to be awesome if they supply a converter. The wording of that comment by Frogboy, though, makes me wonder. "We also have a tool we’ll be releasing that makes Havok files work with Elemental" doesn't say they'll make Havok files work with Blender or Hexagon and so on. I didn't know about that free XSI Mod Tool . The <a href="http://software.intel.

The more I think about this, the more I think it's an AMAZING FANTASTIC IDEA. [e digicons]:star:[/e] Going with the "War of Pokemon" approach, it could work if city founding was really gym founding. "Cities" could only be established on top of existing city tiles, like Pallet Town or Viridian City. Once you've established a gym in that town, you can build pokemon breeding farms, Pokemarts, and so on. It makes conceptual sense. The only tricky part i

Since we're still pretty much in the dark about working with the file formats, and it looks like 3DS or Maya will be required for some steps, it occurred to me that just converting those files so others can work with them in Blender would be a valuable contribution. If you own the software and can efficiently convert the files, both to a format usable in Blender and back into a format usable in-game, you could help a lot of people out and facilitate the creation of many more mods than w

[e digicons]:karma:[/e] Idea for how to use in Single Player [e digicons]:karma:[/e] Diplomatic Capital could be required for certain in-game actions, available through the Diplomacy tree, much like mana is required for casting magic. These actions could be magic-like in effect, or they could be more overtly diplomatic. For example, a player could do a Trade Embargo (reduce the enemy's income from cara

There was another suggestion thread about city level-up message blocking your view of the city, so you can't see what's in that city to inform your decision. If things happen behind the message, that's bad. We definitely need some control over that message window. A message log would help, too--something like the tactical battle log, only for all in-game messages.

Minor update: It's been 24 hours now, and that forum has still not approved my post. I bet you $500 they won't ever approve it, nor will they explain why. They won't approve it--not because I'm a spammer or troll--but because I "mocked the mods" with my comment about how I need to post in 13 inane threads so I can post links. Ego plays a huge role in moderation.

I see just the one search box, which seems to be tied into Google. It would be nice to have some advanced search options. It should be possible to code this in HTML by just adding some advanced search operators, like site: or intitle:. It would make the search feature more user-friendly. I'd really like to see, though, some search options that tie into the unique features of the site, such as karma rating and referrals. I'd like to sort results by the karma r

Oh.. so it's like a trackback. I think a spammer might have exploited that, then. The referral on my post was for a warez site. (Or maybe they considered it "news" and didn't know about the referrals system.)

The referenced thread was a little hyperbolic, but there is a legitimate concern to be raised there. What it looks like to me is the federal government assisting corporations in their enforcement, which just isn't a responsible use of constitutional power. The piracy issue is more complicated than either the rightwing or copyleft extremes seem to realize. It really is different from smashing a window and grabbing what's inside (i.e., VP Biden's remarks), but it's

It really is just a patch of Mount & Blade. The graphics are supposed to be better, but I don't see a huge difference. The localization of different parts of the kingdom does seem much better. You're supposed to have larger battles, but I haven't seen that yet--don't have a big enough army. If you're going to buy the game, though, you should definitely go for this version. I'm going to put up the cash for it. $30 for such a huge, time-absorbing, game, a

This probably isn't the best example, but here's a tutorial on localizing (translating) a Firefox extension: http://www.babelzilla.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=14&Itemid= Something like that system would be great for Elemental. It's surprising how different international communities spring up for software, like the Japanese Poser community

Where it shows replies, on one of my posts, it also shows a referral, which is a link to a website. I can't see how one would even add a referral. How does that work?

Don't you think it's analogous to DRM, a system that inconveniences and annoys the honest users while (possibly/questionably) deterring the dishonest? I was a moderator on a forum, too, for a while, so I know how frustrating it can be. But you have to consider how your policies affect the content and tone of the forum. If your anti-spam feature requires a moderator to review every post, how is that more efficient than letting the spammers in and deleting their posts afterw
