I like playing the cyanide version against the AI. The AI doesn't care if you cheat and give all your amazons +1 armor. : D Besides... how often do you get 2500 team value and 10 million cash in FUMBBL? Okay okay... those are just excuses I am just not a competitive person.

I bought Disciples 2 and I really didn't enjoy it. The setup of the creatures is too limited, it is really hard to level up your troops to a high level, and every battle feels very closely matched. I understand why other people might prefer this style of game but I would rather play a game that lets me build up large armies.

Starbound is like Terarria... its a 2d platformer game where you mine resources, craft tools, and kill monsters. Not a strategy game at all. I don't want to tell you what to do... but usually youtube can give you a really quick idea of how the game actually plays.

So is there a list of the 7 games anywhere? My guess: 1. Gal Civ 3 2. Elemental 4x 3. Elemental RPG 4. sins of a solar empire???? 5. Star control 6. ??? 7. Something using oxide

Do you know if they are also collecting specs of people running the demo so they can identify driver and/or hardware issues? That seems like another useful thing that could be gathered (though maybe pointless until it is further developed) I think this would be a cool benchmark for the new computer I am building vs a core 2 quad & 8800 GT

The enhanced edition is not the same as playing the original. I personally love playing the original and even though I have the enhanced edition as well (mostly to play multiplayer). This is probably more true for BG1 than BG2. In any case, those are awesome games, I just finished Icewind Dale for the first time and I am moving on to Icewind Dale 2. It was a bunch of really fun combat, and very challenging at times.

RTS games do have generalizable technology. AI, especially pathfinding has large opportunities since it can consume a lion's share of the CPU usage. With clever design you could facilitate target prioritization as well as resource gathering and build orders. MObas don't really use much though.

That is a really great interview. I am excited for Oxide... I have a great idea for a MoM successor with Total War style combat... having thousands of units on the screen to get crushed under a rain of meteors is not really something a low budget game could hope to achieve. Also, looking at recent failures like Stronghold 3 which has a max of 90 workers, I think the future is bright for the genre. My main issue now is... how do I get in on the action?

I am still a sucker for the first design, similar to MoO2. It is nice that you are adding functionality in the modern ui designs rather than hide everything behind context menus.

I will just link you to this article, it is based on American prices, but maybe it can help you. The econobox and sweet spot would probably be where you want to look, and make sure to read the alternate parts at the bottom of each page. http://techreport.com/review/25584/tr-fall-2013-system-guide </

The game looks like it could have potential but seems to simplistic for me. It also seems like Warlock where you spend most of the game fighting monsters, which gets boring after a while. The fact that it has unit customization is interesting, though its probably not as fun as the Master of Orion 2 system.

This game is pretty cool. I played the demo for a few hours and it is pretty addictive. I voted for it on Greenlight so hopefully it is successful! this game alone is worth getting the bundle.

Steam is DRM, you cannot play most (perhaps all?) games without steam running. There are some exceptions such as the non-game software DisplayFusion can run without steam. That isn't to say its impossible, as many pirated games are steam versions that run without steam. It just isn't something that you are supposed to be able to do.

Hire me... I will code the tactical combat for you with fully functional multiplayer (I have done it before). I am willing to have my job title be "miscellaneous human asset" as well. As for what to call the content... it makes sense for standalone stuff, especially new story based content or heavy revisions to the strategic map, would have a new subtitle. Elemental:New Version. Elemental 2 in my mind is if you wanted to release a game that is very similar to Fallen Ench

Those IP's still seem overvalued at that amount... even though thats probably a fraction of what Atari would have charged for them normally. I am curious though... if you had bought the IP would you have made a sequel to Master of Orion using the Elemental engine? Also... do the IP's come with Atari's trickle of income from digital sales or is that separate? Anyways... I am really happy that Stardock participated and I hope that some games get

Being an indie developer who hasn't made it into the spotlight... I can't really understand why there is so much "drama" I am thankful for the handful of people who have fallen in love with my work and hope that the handful can become hundreds... and then thousands one day. I guess my only real insight is maybe the cancellation was a long time coming. Usually there are many things that build up and it just takes one more to push past the boiling point and decide

I enjoyed the game for the money spent on kickstarter, especially with the Berlin DLC being free. I didn't really have too many problems with it besides the sparseness of the levels. Yeah, it would have been nice if it had a bunch more side missions and side areas... but not a big deal. The player/npc models were a bit ugly but the environments looked great. I played in two sessions of six hours each... so I had zero problems with the save system. Unlike most games... I had no reaso

What about games like Dawn of War or Empire at War? I like those games because you can just focus on economy and map control. There is a small unit cap so you don't have to worry about micro so much, mostly just reinforcing squads and occasionally activating an ability. Also, I am pretty sure there are custom maps like "Macro Wars" that purport to alleviate this problem... maybe you could check some of those out.

You shouldn't make assumptions about the quality of the game before you (or any reviewers) get their hands on it. Age of Wonders came out a LONG time ago, many of the employees at Triumph Studios are probably completely different, and they have been working on this game for several years now, using modern technology and methods. I liked AoW but it was lots of diversity in units with little tactical variety for using those units. The whole line of fire thing with archery was bri

For a second I was thinking you meant the torment of using "Kali" in MoM... head scratching moment. I think its great that PC Gamer still exists, and that you got an 85... but that article is a little sparse. I guess its the equivalent of a 2 page spread in a magazine, which is not bad, but after reading so many wall of text posts by players and devs in the forums I am spoiled.

I don't really think we are anywhere near the point where you can sell an idea. I think Jon has a big advantage that he is associated with the Civilization franchise... I doubt it would get anywhere near as much funding without him. That being said it looks like the project will get funded and it is has all kinds of things on the Three Moves Ahead wishlist for strategy games. Speaking of which... it seems like they have an <a title="3MA Episode 204" href="http://flashofsteel.com/index.php

I really liked the movie. I don't remember the book at all, or the animated movie very much. I liked how Gandalf had a pretty large amount of tricks that he used. It also helped that I read the wikipedia page for Gandalf before watching so I knew more about who/what he was. I found the 3D to be distracting in a few scenes, mostly because of foreground objects that were purposely out of focus... it looked TERRIBLE. It totally broke the immersion for me. Most of the time it wasn&#39
