I love your analysis, and i agree with you. It is right on the spot. I would love to have different units in my army and search for perfect harmony of troops, or even have specialized armies to deal concrete dangers.I would love to have also more troops than 9 in army, but that's another topic. Right now I can go through game producing basically only one type of units, and this type will auto-update itself with time. Furthermore, spread of techs around does not allow diversity, ei
ai's are defineately doing quests, but they are still not using gear very well. This is probably why you couldnt find very many if you spent a good deal of the game stuck in a corner. Not sure what impact this will have on the master quest.
i had under my control good portion of that corner, with 10 cities in there.
Not all factions should be able to create a ton of metal clad troops. Gilden gets a 50% discount and light plate costs less metal. Try going for that and rushing the Iron Works. You will never want for metal. If you are talking about 20+ cities, you have probably won the game or are playing on a massive map. Metal is about right for cities when you have 8 cities. The endgame is not entirely fleshed out, but if you are in a good war, you have to manag

I played ridiculous for world and expert for AI, large world with 4 AI (to have some space in the beginning). Having 20+ cities i am pulling +28 metal/turn, with my heaviest cavalry costing up to 130 metal. My fort-city has all updates speeding up production, and i am playing Gilden with -50% to cost in metal of armor and weapons .... I think also some upgrades, like War College, should have metal cost reduction, not only labour. But, what really worries/concerns me, is

Couple of interesting remarks/statistics regarding my last game: - I did two quests all game through, one on easy, and an epic one. Have no clue what happened with other quests (since the beginning i controlled one corner of a large map, had seen and discovered many quests, but when my army was good enough to handle medium/hard ones i couldnt find them anymore) - have found no interesting items (nothing you could not buy), everything i used as equip for my sov/champs was in th

Dragons do not use effectively their most powerful skill: fire. They use it rarely and when they have a choice between attacking a group or single unit, they go for the single one way too often. It is possible that dragon burn his very self, and i saw it happened. Also once i fought 3 dragons and one finished other two ...

Another nonsense: in fighting a big fights in the cities with lot of enemy units, most of defense forces do not move at all meanwhile their archers/melee troops are slaughter.. I can send all troops on one wing, kill archers and one -two troops of defense while their center, other wing just watches ...

- death ward (or something like that) Spell that supposed to protect your sov/champion from dying does not work - champ dies but is not resurrected after battle. Instead gets afflictions and spell is still shown on info about champ. Right now it does nothing.

- Saving/loading problem: still there. Once a game is saved all the moves are done on load. In other words, game kind of hits end of turn and moves all units at loading, so you can screw yourself up easily if that's only/recent save you have. After couple of save/loads game becomes messed up - usually the marking square around active unit is gone and weird things start to happen. - move/attack problem: still here. Appear if: My army runs out of movement points a sq

I will be very interested in what you consider overpowered as possible custom race :) I also always enjoy your play-throughs. I was thinking that after a couple of games will put me back into game, and once a game is released, we can do kind of challenge/race/test. The challenge goes like that: let's play from identical condition (same save file, same rules) and see who makes it further :) Like that we can share every 20-30 turns our situation, strategy etc. Not t

I am now coming back to play, unfortunately, all my old tricks are not working anymore .. I need some time also to learn mechanics, spells, etc. but i have to wait for stable version first (with loading working - when i play seriously, no loading, but for testing I prefer it). My impression is that a lot depends on the initial conditions: how many cities you can manage in the shortest time, drops (weapons, armors), first hero employed etc. Bad luck means quick game over.

No crushing here, but mess nevertheless after re-loads.

"Nut you say that you play with a no magic sovereign." As I said i have to re-learn couple things :) Actually i think it would work if i would get good second hero, since i got pure melee second hero it made my life way more difficult ... Still, i got this bug with hero walking by itself after re-loading and walking toward monster i tried to kite, b/c enemies army was approaching my city. Game over right there, good bye sov, good bye city. I will play couple games once a full

Very nice. Quick question: do you win most games? I have recently attempted to play on similar settings (but i did couple of reloads since i had not played some time, and there is a good number of changes), but a game got really badly bugged after loading ... I played no-magic sov and i have to admit it was hard, really hard on ridiculous. I have feeling, however, that a lot depends on your initial position (how fast you can find a good spot for a city) and AI (in one game i h

I agree, something should be done, yet, i do not think it will. In most of my games i do not even longer bother to train any troops, and only time i ever trained them was long time ago when monsters were randomly respawning close to the cities. I regret that the game choose this direction: limiting number of troops by both production (either a troop or a building, length of training) and usefulness. I would love to have great number of armies only enhanced by heroes at crucial p

Just started to play FE again after quite a long break, and changes of balance took me by surprise. On impossible the amount of hp AI and monster have makes early game spells totally useless. Power rating of AI is also enormous - after 90 turns i have 88 to 800 of AI on average, and one guy has half million (sic!) due to 300k of gold income per turn. Generally speaking, I was not doing well, but i have feeling that it is bc i played a mage. My questions are: - can you

I loved re-spawning monsters, and liked it as it worked in War of Magic ... Right now there is no initiative whatsoever to defend your cities ...

Fortify does not give you any bonus - there is no information on the unit screen, and bears maul you all the same. But the way, if you hit auto-resolve bear never mauls you.

Just one remark: freeze, water spell, can be really deadly if used together with a spell that creates an outpost. you cast outpost so enemy is in your control zone, then you cast a freeze, which enemy cannot resist and you have an enemy army's movement reduced to 1. Last step - attack :) . Actually it is totally overpowered combination, with a decent army and a strategy - hit and run - you can beat way stronger enemy
