This is on ridiculous world and maximum ridiculous AI players. I'm not bragging, I'm not even particularly good at a lot of strategy games. No, I don't use the maximum movement speed cheese. I do take organized, because bang for buck it is the best trait. In fact, I don't really min/max my sovereign other than taking organized. With the outrageous accessibilty and low cost of teleport create a dynamic where one stack is able to defend an infinitely large, spraw

I think the randomized system reflects more accurately the spontaneous nature of scientific discoveries... the administration sets agendas, but the actual breakthroughs can be pretty unpredictable.

In a rare moment for me I will admit to actually really liking something about the game... the technology tree, at least the Kingdom tree. The Empire tree feels a little bit thrown together and incomplete, but I like the mechanics of how the thing works.

Agreed. I've been saying since release here and in IRC that a simplistic two-stat system with such gigantic random die roll range (1-300) with uniform probability distribution is a system that renders strategic play impossible.
Quoting fatindian, reply 124 It's stupid to dismiss independent game reviewers just because they don't have as many reviews as professional game sites. You assume quit a bit about what I think. You don't have the reasoning skills to manage that so stop trying. Its also stupid to put too much stock in someones first review ever on a brand new site with no history. For all we know its the one and only review

The problem with the short sword is that it is overpowered not due to its abilities in melee, but because of how many spells per round it allows a mage to cast.

I heartily endorse adding incest to the game. Also, as was mentioned in the suggestions forum, we need a spell to change the sex of heroes. "Arcane Transgendering."

What is the deal with people posting spam like this and OMG 79000 replies. Dilutes and impedes the ability of the community to bring the (very serious) issues to the developers.
Try winning a game (any way) without researching anything in the "warfare" tree.
See: "without purposefully ignoring cost/effect. Which is what a strategy game is about." But, to let you know, that is imminently possible. In my second game the only conventional troops I had were guarding my towns while my summoned VMs and Sarog blew everyone away in the first turn of combat.

I won my first game ever on ridiculous against all ridiculous AIs. As a strategy game aficianado, its frankly impossible to find a way to play that doesn't break the game without purposefully ignoring cost/effect. Which is what a strategy game is about.

You can easily destroy any stack on turn one with VMs. Once they hit level 5? Or six maybe, they get an extra point of mana, and they will get there by the time you have that 2000hp stack, and they cast twice a round. That's 20 damage to every unit per VM on the first round. Its ridiculously easy to get up to 10 or more VMs, all you need is one level two hero per VM. Now Demons are even more ludicrous. They can cast three or four times each

I briefly alluded to King of Dragon Pass earlier... since its so obscure I'll go into a bit of detail. It's a Viking Clan simulation with very distinctive mythological and supernatural elements based off the world of Glorantha, which is truly one of the most fully realized fantasy worlds I have encountered in gaming. The game is slow, and contains no animation, but the art is beautiful. It's kind of like a (really hard) choose your own adventure. Excep

Sigh. Whatever. Have fun buying and defending the purchase of product tie-in books. Encourage the book industry to churn out more of these crimes against literature. Those of us with taste will be elsewhere reading something edifying.

I'm the one that brought the QT3 debate over here? Interesting. I happen to be a member of both communities, yes, and I know some of the people involved in this. I didn't bring in that drama. This thread is comedy gold.

It's amusing because Bradley Wardell has nothing to do with his banning. Tom Chick does, and it was in response to Matt's behavior over a period of time over several different topics. Once again, for the record, I am also quite bemused at the rancor conjured by the suggestion that a videogame tie-in novel might not be all that good.

I find it hilarious that some people think that the Gallant family is so cut up over being banned from someone else's forum that they are expending any energy whatsoever into an elaborate revenge plot spanning multiple internet sites. This just keeps getting better and better.

JayG, as has been addressed, the quotes speak for themselves. Angie simply provided her own riffs of of them. I even peeked at a few pages the other day in the bookstore, and those kind of sentence fragments interspersed with gigantic run-ons are more than just common throughout the entire body of text.

I don't think you understand the Unamommer site. Her passion is seeking out novels she suspects will be hilarious, and sharing the results with the internet. So yes, she ends up picking up a lot of video game tie-in novels, because as literature, these products are often hilarious.

Ummm, I was responding to your statement. "What do I do when all the good grammar books on subjects I care to read have already been read?" And once again, you guys are talking about the people in the most popular forum for the game development and journalism industry. Please don't join and bring this bullshit over there. We like quality content.

Source: It's buried in the elemental thread somewhere, when the book is mentioned, Angie pipes in and says that sounds like unamommer fodder if I remember correctly.
