Archers are extremely powerful in early game, some say they are overpowered. I wouldn't go that far, but I do think they need some balancing.
Logic... Overpowered/Underpowered = unbalanced How can something need balancing if it is not over/underpowered? (rhetorical Q) I do agree with the rest of the post however...

A General Purpose CPU can solve an O(N^3) problem much more effortlessly (and especially through brute force methods) than any human being can. I cannot state the same for an NP-Hard. I agree with Storm's Statement as it being only half the AI problem as well. Adding Patches that make nonsence out of the tech trees is not helping... (Proof: Look at Kingdom Maces and then Warhammers... o.O) It could be successfu
Yes, I get a bit pissed about this but then depending on the caravan I just RolePlay it away and I can say I've fought a few wars over illegally parked caravans. The offending traders stop once executed and war is declared... I know its a harsh solution... although it works... :P
The biggest problem is that most weapons for empire and kingdom are same (same stats), but the way they are researched is completely different. Kingdom gives better and better weapons every few techs, so you would expect those weapons to outperform/replace previous ones, and that getting all those extra techs means something. On the other hand, empire lumps one set of weapons all at once (for example same tech gives mace and all 3
Generally it looks like somebody is trying to "balance" weapons by looking at each one in isolation instead of actually balancing them against eachother.
Agree 100% - It sure looks that way or QA is not looking at what changed and why... We are getting no explanations...
I'd be satisfied with an explanation if it is a bug and target fix ETA... This would also acknowledge it as a bug.
No. What you advocate is basically the outsourcing of QA to the customer base or to be more specific that part of the customer base that is willing to do anything to have the product/patch a little bit earlier than otherwise. And while this may be a win/win situation for this group (gets to play earlier) and the company (saving money) it will most likely be a big loss for the overall customer base ... and if other companies or even indu
Stardock, Frogboy, Are you aware that the warhammer now does 5 damage whereas the mace (a lower-tech weapon) does 6 damage? is this behavior in the latest hot fix/patch of 1.08 intended?
I, too, would like to know...
Wow....what a confusing situation. Honestly, short term, the only major issues I have are the bow problem and the mana loss problem. I haven't run into any other game breakers in the latest version. I'm glad Stardock is working hard to get updates out as often as possible, but we are definitely seeing some community confusion as a result of the way this is being done. Not sure why this ha
/agree with Redwind and Klydon... ESPECIALLY the part about researching advanced weapons... I mean Cmon SD WTF? at least be honest about what happened or why?
[1.08] Mace 6 Damage next higher tech weapon -> Warhammer 5 damage Please acknowledge this is correct or not and that it will be fixed... Suggestion SD/Frogboy... create a Bug forum that we can post silly crap like this and have a SD QA person then check and confirm it's a bug acknowledge it or explain it is as designed.... I get it if it is supposed to be this way... wait... no I don't if it's supposed to be this way... why? Tell me w
Quoting Frogboy, reply 2 Fixing the bug in monster loot necessitated a review of the cost of weapons and such. Our primary game play changes are actually in a separate branch that will show up in v1.1 (new UI, new spell system, etc.). But having monsters give 2000 gildar loot was game breaking and was never the intent. Fixing the loot from monsters is all well and good, but
PEACE through STRENGTH... Ronnie Reagan Them were some good years! Ofc I was in College during the 87 recession but that was just a few years impact not like today's market... Anyhow if the AI is giving you the beat down then change how you start so that you can have enough might to balance the AI's assessment of your strength and you'd find the AI to be as peaceful as ever. The Game Start(first 10-20 turns) are critical though! Good
To be completely honest, I have not had yet with 1.08 a hard time generating enough Gildar, Ive two towns with two Gold mines each, Ive one with 4 That's FOUR gold mines and half of the rest all have one gold mine... gold or gildar is not my issue, and for those playing ridiculous difficulty and complaining that the game is ridiculous ...I laugh because you're being ridiculous if you expected something else... But what get my
Fix the Warhammer!!! It shouldn't be doing 24 as it was in 1.07 but it should not be doing 5 damage when the mace is already doing 6 damage in 1.08, should it?
Is it me, or does the weapon balance in idea make sense from 1.07 but in 1.08 what is the reasoning to have a Mace do 6 damage and a warhammer only do 5 damage? Am I Missing something? Why on God's good earth would I want a warhammer now? You'd think a Warhammer would at least do 7 or 8 damage? Didn't anyone look at the numbers? Fire your QA department SD you need ppl with a sense sense of attention to detail.... Also WTF is with 2 and 3 shards spawning
1. it's a game 2. the game mechanics operate as Stardock intended....hopefully 3. Still the OP makes a strong arguement for an experience that would be more intuitive and ultimately fun I think. here's looking forward to patch 1.08 !!! Note ATI released a new win7 64 bit driver package for the HD radion series GFX cards. TODAY!

I'd love a few "Umber are nearing completion of the Spell of Making" type messages or " The other Kingdoms are allying against us", things to force our hand. I think eHandel forget what his/her first game was like with auto-turn enabled I did not even realize the turn count had ticked over 50 w/o having built my first town. I'd recommend turning Auto-turn off so you know when the next turn ticks over. That right there will help slow the pace down a bunch. Int eh current implementation there are 4 ways to win, only one is a military takeover of everyone. there is the Alliance/Peace rout and the Spell of

so why haven't you increased the pacing setting? I'm trying a medium map on hard with a fast pacing to see what happens if you will... In 4x games as well as RTS games the early game matter a ton going into the mid and late game era's since these games are essentially economic or population growth games they are geometric or logarithmic growth sims to some degree and the faster your growth engine the less handicap or greater strength you'll have ... fundamental trait to th
Increase the penalty for focusing on one tech even more than it is today, this would be a simple and yet effective tool to persuade folks to level their research across each of the tech areas. just my 2 cents...
