Isn't the Moon already made of cheese though? So calling the planet something named after a cheese would just sound....cheesy...

100 turns too LONG for that little? Are you guys nuts? In 100 turns you should barely be starting your second city, with a population of maybe 50 people. Give us time to explore, learn the lay of the land. Remember people this is a tiny map - On a gargantuan size map, you should hopefully not have even had a chance to discover how big your landmass is by that point. Frogboy- will it be possible to maybe add a scale to the game (slowing down building, research, populatio
Nice picture though. I like the huge dragon on the horizon.
Yeah that's the best looking dragon I think I've seen since "Puff". Are all dragons going to look like that, with the wings shaped like that? Or is that a special dragon?
Anyone know what time (first thing in the AM, right before they leave for the day, etc.) they generally release stuff?
Quoting strager, reply 29I think that there should be a minimum distance that requires at least one tile between the maximum range a city can build into- this way you can still turtle (you'd have to put an army between them or something) but it would make it much more challenging....just my opinion of course I don't think you'd want to build them too close to each other anyway. I'd put a minimum distance simply to prevent newbies from

Well as long as unit upkeep isn't exponential, it's not a big deal...early in the game upkeep forces you to choose between sending large forces to war, or guarding your resources..... later in the game however, a group of 10 guys to guard a valuable resource shouldn't cost much at all....
You will get in when your order is processed and charged. Right now we're expecting to do this Thursday for beta 1Z, then again when beta 2 begins.
Thanks for the clarification Kyro. That should put some peoples minds at ease :)
My goal is to make my territory very defendable. My second city is 4 tiles away from the first one (city center to city center). My strategy will be to have the two reach out to one another to build a wall to keep other players out.
Shouldn't there be some kind of disadvantage to doing that? Otherwise your going to see everyone linking their cities instead of expanding outwards...
What does Seamanship give you? I have a different post on a similar subject, but I was curious what the Naval System was like.... Are we going to be able to colonize islands, other continent's, etc? Or is everything going to be on 1 landmass? If we are going to have a real naval system can we design our own boats like we do units? EDIT:
BTW, if anyone is thinking the cloth map is ugly, it was actually
Looks like they are going to have some kind of Naval System... check out these screens from Frogboys latest Journal...Seamanship and Harbors!
FFH is Fall From Heaven 2, a mod for Civilization 4. And there are dwarves and the like in Elemental. Just read the civilization descriptions. It even says "In another world, these people might be called dwarves." So while they aren't called Dwarves as such in elemental, for all intents and purposes, they are dwarves. Though I guess it might just be a placeholder description that's ironic, who knows. But anyway, I agree that

Alternatively, having "Legendary Battle" flags automatically pop over sites of close battles or huge battles would be cool as well. So I've been thinking.... bad idea (me thinking) I know.... Are there currently any advantages to building cities along the coastlines? It would make sense that there would be some unique city improvements for being along the coast.... for example: Harbors: Brings in extra food, allows boats to be built (if there is going to be a naval system at all...which I haven't heard anything about) Fisheries: Brings in even more food Boat-Ho
Awesome! Can't wait... are we still looking at Thursday for the 1Z invites? EDIT: First! (ahem.... couldn't resist)
If we get that - chances are either Elemental or Civ5 will be delayed into next year - neither developer (you or Firaxis) is in fincancial trouble (meaning you MUST release or risk going out of busniess like many developers have to), and both are committed to putting out a good game. Thats why I hate release dates - they get you all excited, than they get pushed and you get all depressed. It wouldn't be so bad if there were more than a handful of decent games a year.... But these days, it's a
From a commercial standpoint, MOO3 was a success. It sold a lot more copies than GalCiv did.
Frogboy - You should try to acquire the MOO licence. A competent developer (such as yourselves) really needs to get their hands on it, before Moo3 becomes the only thing people remeber about one of the best series in history. EDIT: Plus it would make you oodles and oodles of money!
Is building your city in the middle of a forest really a good idea? As an evil player, I hope I have the ability to burn down said forest destroying your city without losing a man- or at least causing signifigant damage, allowing my troops to roll in once the fire dies down and roll over it without much trouble..... EDIT: And based on the screenshot even better- your up against some mountains - If I start the fires in just two directions you'd be completly trap
It's likely just an authorization. If that is the case your credit shouldnt be deducted unless you use a debit card (the bank will hold the money in escrow if you did, until you are either charged or the authorization is lifted)
What about Soverign Crowns - That way you could differentiate between your ruler and your money....
Champions - If your playing an Evil faction a Hero wouldn't work.
