strager, I hope the system you envisage will be capable of representing gods and goddesses. Much like the Deities and Demigods from DnD. So not only could you be worshipping a cult figure or a abstract religious principles but you could also have the manifestation of a deity/deities or their representatives evolve in the game. Early religious techs could be something like- Founding the religion=receive 2 essence, Prestige.

Cool pic Wintersong. Raven X, that has happened so many times to so many people it ain't funny(not having a the "one" chord or cable attached). Now when it's one of you techies that makes it even more frustrating(for you). I bet everyone here who uses a computer more than a few times a year has done that least once in their life. Glad your back up.
This has been an interesting read, topic and discussion. Gonna throw my hat into the flames. I had a chance to visit and go to school in England for a time. Of course, enjoying fantasy and all that stuff I really loved exploring the castles and keeps. The town I stayed in had a very small tower keep in roughly the center of town. This is in Guildsford. It was placed there by William the Bastard AKA The Duke of Normandy AKA William the Conqueror AKA Wi
Ty TCores for bringing this up. It would be nice if the trading technologies were allowed but not like GC2. Would be better if the technologies traded don't receive benefits immediately via the trade. Think there should be very strong restrictions on trading in vanilla campaign. I want them to be allowed but just to have less influence of the overall game than they were in GC2. Maybe a mechanic where you can only have one technology trade for x amount
Not a fan of metropolis either. Yes were nitpicky it appears. I agree with John_Hughes for the most part and this small detail can be fixed/altered later and is not a part of debuggin atm. Even if its only something you will see or read about in the manual. Currently(just for giggles) I name my world Oerth. The first city created is Greyhawk and the faction that I use are The Men of Blackmoor. I just love being able to zoom in an out o
ty BoogieBac, think I'll be using WinXP for a while still. Think there are still quite a few of us :) [e digicons][/e]
Heya GreenIsles. I believe the answer is Michel Van Den Bos. You can check out this thread where it was talked about- Tiny coincidences
Here we go and adding the notes- ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 4/23/2010, 11:27:22 Machine name: MAUKTANTRIL Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.100216-1514) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.&nb
Just want to say this is not a historical game nor is it based on anything historical(unless its another pc game). The vast majority of fantasy literature has all kinds of witchcraft, superstition, cults, religions, demi -gods and gods. It usually adds depth to storylines and plot development. Many of the 'monsters' and other fantastic beings/creatures that were created for literature and gaming do come
Yea this is really funny. It was in the post that I quoted- Elemental: Rebuilding a civilization that has Frogboy's responce to Raven X question about the name. I apologize for not remembering. Still think Raven X is right about the name convention being inadequate for the lore
Oops, I thought that was sarcasm. Frogboy?? I did read that also but I thought it was a placeholder name. Gonna track that down..
I guess you could call it a focus tool gmc2. So you can concentrate on a particular subject. Basically a tech tree in the direction you point it.
Well I have this idea stolen from Aractain in an earlier thread, Elemental: Rebuilding a civilization &nbs
Mike not sure if your in beta but the soverign character creation screen allows you to put the points you receive where you want. What I'm saying is that is already in place. You don't don't have to do too much if you don't want to. For players who want lots to tweak their characters its important to have little variations as well as big ones. I think flexibility is gonna be one of the big draws of Elemental. Its already headed in that direction.
Just went through this whole post again and a couple people had some good suggestions or points. onemastikon says "I like most of the quotes given here. Just a note on NAMES. I do not think that many players will be happy with random names, because most players will want to designate their troops not as single individuals, but as exemplificat
Well since you like rpg as well as strategy and you didn't list DDO, I recommend that MMO. It's currently free to play. The graphics are nice if not particularly special. The strategy part is definitely in how you role with a group. You can solo play but it becomes very tricky as you level up. Most of the strategy involved is about team-play based mechanics. Many quests and dungeons with a decent amount of content. The game is based in the Ebbe
The inventory management will be good to change . Think all the heros/champions should have the paper doll inventory. I would like to see that once we equipe an item on a hero that it shows up on the figurine. With the equipement and figurines being painted. The bases should have camoflouge ability to blend in with whatever tile they are currently on. I'm sure they will change the sound for books at some point. Having multiple cities under
ooh very good idea![e digicons][/e] Customized sounds for your units at creation.
So far you can customize your Soverigns/Channelers, factions, background stories and units. This is early in game development though. The map tool/editor will probably be something we will all(rpger's) enjoy. You can preorder the game and get in on the beta. Lets you see how the game develops. Wintersong has a good thread called <a id="ctl00__Content__RepeaterStickyPosts_ctl00__PostTitle" class=" bold" title="Elemental for dummies (2010/04/11)" h
"My kook room is stacked with MREs and I can assure you, they don't last particularly long. [e digicons]:)[/e] "-ah Frogboy you burst my bubble; you need help, probably psychological but most definitely in home economics. Please I know you can afford fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy and meat. There must be a store somewhere there in Michigan that still carries those things? MRE's should only be used as an emergency measure and not as a permanent way of life. Tip for you-
Very nice strager! I personally think its just a big compliment and also a certain level of dedication to a game that you can critize as you help create and add more content for it. It is also fun to see a possibly addicting game get some (early mod love). Lots of good ideas for games and not all good ideas can be in the same game. Your website looks professional. Never played Magic the Gathering; in MoM Blue is school of enchantment. It has spells like Spell Blast, Fly, Time Stop. Wanting to add to op and not detract from your idea. I think I would do something with Runes, Sigils , Glyphs. Each one could be made up of 1 or more schools of magic. Schools of magic(pretty much all the old standards from rpg's /books). </span
KillzEmAllGod-"shouldn't pikemen need secondarys?" Short answer is yes. What kind? Short Sword, Mace, Dagger(light melee weapons) For the longer answer from wiki is Pikemen . edit* I didn't check on lengths of swords that Pike units used but taking all the other weight factors into account-armor, pike the swords couldn't have been too heavy(opinion). Some Pikes reache
Heya Sethfc . Many of the testers here have already done just that. There is a post laying around about DosBox and MoM . I agree with you that it is an excellent place to pick ideas from. I haven't played Age of Wonders 2 yet. I played the first one. I understand both Age of Wonders 2 and the Fall from Heaven mod from Civ 4 are also good places to borrow ideas from. I haven't played
There was a point in time when I enjoyed getting the latest and greatest pc games. Now I am older, less likely to jump on any game hype bandwagon and tend to buy games that have been released or been out for some time. Much like the old days, its 'caveat emptor' or "buyer beware". There are currently so many choices from the past that are excellent titles and are fully patched that I still want to play. Most of these are far cheaper and fun to play than trying to
