Wow. A global mana pool like in MOM or aow is great. The problem is that EWOM already has its own set of variables.. Confusing like heck.. But i think almost everyone agrees (a) imbued champions should have some limit to the amount of mana they could throw around each turn. Problem though how do we square that with the MOM type idea that Brad confirmed will be in that you can cast overland magic? I think perhaps overland magic can be unlimited so you coul

Yeah shards should do more than just +1 . But it still retains it's damage multiper effect right? But i agree.. need more..

And for the record, Stardock doesn't ship products, it uses a fulfillment house. We have taken the issue of duplicate shipments up with them. I can think of plenty of forums you can visit and express your endless rage. If this thread turns into a flame war, I'll
Because MoM did it does not automatically make it a good idea. I don't see the logic in that at all.
"Logic:" lol.. easy to "explain" why getting spellbooks would give you increased regeneration.. In any case just because it is in MOM does not automatically make it a bad idea (the idea here is to make choosing spellbooks more useful), which seems to be the stance of EWOM , and look
Quoting Frogboy, reply 81 The second one (overworld spells) is precisely why we have to change to a global mana storage system rather than per unit so that we can have, big, powerful spells like that. Brad, I think the lack of spells is a problem - can we have a thread where users suggest spells they would like to see, this way we'll get many different ideas for different elemental spells, different books, far more
Want to make select of spell books more important in soverign design? Each spell book you select gives you +2 regeneration.. This is like how "the game that shall not be named" handled it..
Well, some obvious changes I think need to be made That +1 mana needs to be +10, +12, or +6 to allow for fractional uses. Not all summons should have the same cost. Book of summoning summons need to be more effective then straight elemental summons. In that sense, I'd like to see the magic tree changed- make spell books a lvl 1 magic tech, make the books the
Why? Because Stardock doesn't make the same kind of games that Simtex does. The same differences between MoO and Gal Civ apply similarly to MoM vs E:WoM. The gameplay is similar but the player focuses on and enjoys very different gameplay mechanics in Stardock's games. I personally don't like the way SD does game design, but thats a personal preference. I can say that with its own power, as far as I have seen, SD alone cannot
Quoting Gwenio1, reply 40 Out of curiousity, what was complicated about AoW? As a note, it can be fast depending on how you play and the map you are playing (At least in Shadow Magic, only just got the others). Well, every units have their own unique role (with unusual traits and skills), every race has their own strategy, every magic has it's own purpose. It is complex. A good game, I say. But, I can't stand with th

But you certainly did not hesitate to interpret it how you chose to and flame him. His point regarding: Saying EWOM has "power that surplass" MOM despite being weaker in MAGIC system is really insane The word he is looking for is "potential." Elemental has the potential to surpass MoM.&nbs
You are welcome to like or claim to like anything you want of course. But your post has no other content beyond asserting your right to like the game (i assume you don't disagree that magic and TC are most important in games like this), so I have no other comment.
I get the sense, SD is saying they probably won't add that much content until C. That means C will probably add unique tech trees and differentiate the races more. Probably more soverign design choices and special abilities. And spells of course.. B would make some major changes in game mechanics , I'm guessing Tactical combat. Since C is like at least a year later, I hope modders can save the game by modding in fun spells and abilities/traits that make&n
I just played MOM and say that Elemental is very different than it. I think, AOW has more similarity to MOM than Elemental. But, I say that Elemental has power that surpass MOM. the only weak point of Elemental comparing to MOM are it's magic system and the combat system. Honestly, between AOW, MOM and elemental have their own strength and weakness for me. AOW is too complicated and
Ideas are just that, ideas. Yeah, there has been a lot, and sure, there are many threads worth looking over. But I don't recall any of them ever coming up with a unanimous conclusion that something should be done so and so, nor do I expect them to. Most of the times idea threads are brainstorming sessions. We throw things out that seems like it might be interesting, then others do the same, they are pretty much always conflicting. The hope is to have
SD games have always being slightly boring. With galciv2 it was fine.. as it was based on the equally boring Galciv (to be fair the expansions spiced it up a bit) But the problem here is they promised more.. they promised "EPIC".. they shameless rode on the MOM name.. did they ever stop people, magazines from calling them "MOM's spiritual successor" ? of course not.. it would hurt sales.. I know the 1dN thread you are talking about. They even responded with a one-lin
global pool of mana is a no brainer. But this imbue thing is confusing issues.. Mana global pool is determined by improvements, shards, and wisdom/essence of soverign. Maybe even spellbooks taken or level achieved. Early game it would depend heavily on the sovereign (as other factors like shards dont come into play yet), so stats like wisdom/intelligence, spellbooks taken would heavily influence how much mana you get.. That way, you could have a warrior type soverign but
Did you expect otherwise? Told you not to get your hopes up.. Similar with so called free "expansion level" packs.. be realistic..!
Ha! Looking at 1.08 changelog, you specify min and max values , my guess was right! 1dN+X basically.. [e digicons]:|[/e]
In MOM it worked because the so called "global pool" was actually source of power channeled by the wizard.. which you always could use (limited by skill) plus whatever magic power/mana your hero had.. In EWOM, your sovereign is on equal ground with champions hence this problem..
actually gaining abilities is also far more interesting then levelling up stats.. or even better like AOW1 have a point system.. you could either buy a stat increase, or buy a special ability.. Maybe even allowing you to save points to use together for future levelling up.. To prevent abuse.. your "class" or "type" determines what abilities you could buy and/or how expensive it would be to buy them.. So a barbarian type would find it less costly to buy melee type abili

I like global pool and upkeep as in MOM But the main thing is this... in /MOM, the global pool is a resource that can be stored and accumulated. How is it going to work in EWOM? Do you simply add everybody's mana together? if so how is it renewed?
Nice. But can the AI handle this? so complicated with so many diff effects..
NO TC.. Any real successor to MOM must have TC.. What's the point of having so many fun spells if you can control in TC?
