OK, I tried searching the forum and wiki for answers and it's really not clear how you start making a mod. From what I have understood so far: A- You place your modified XML files in the various folders of your elemental user folder or create a mod sub-folder and place everything there. B- You activate the "use mod" option on the config screen. C- You delete the data.zip file or use a command line parameter option to force the XML compilation and it shoul

Well considering that the designer expected that you need to create a dynastly to have a successor, if you age much slower, there is no need to have kids anymore since you do not have to fear dying from aging.

If I remember well, I started the game around 20 to 25 years old. Now I am about 30 something but my first kid, which did not appear before turn 250 is now 20 years old. So he age faster than me.

I had this situation where there was a stack of units with a strength value of X. I attack them and kill them all. After the battle, there is another stack of units with a different combat strength on the same tile I attacked. From what I understand, they only showed and calculated the strength of the 12 first unit and hide the rest of the unit under the stack. There should be some sort of information on the screen that shows that there is another stack under it with it's combat value
So why would you have the option to turn the random nature up?
One of the reason is that it allows weak units to have some chance to kill strong units. It might give more hope to the weaker players. It really depend on how you want to play. I am sure that there will be players in both camps.

If a player play in cloth map only mode and skip all tactical battles, there are probably a lot of things loaded in memory which are not used by the game. For example, building models, terrain texture, some unit model and texture (still need something for the pawns). I was thinking why could there not be a mode, activated in command line parameter for example, that would force the game to play in cloth map mode only and auto-battle the combat. You would not be allowed to switch back i

I came up with an idea that could be interesting for replacing the dice roll in combat that some people wanted to change. The concept would be to use a very common dice rolling method that I call the "white wolf" method. Here is how it works. Let say you have an attack value of 12, roll 12 dice and discard all dice of value 1. the number of dice you have left is equal the number of damage you make. Which means in average, 1 dice out of 6 will be discarded, so you will roll in

If you have a hero in a battle, you win the battle and the hero raise level. When you only resolve with auto-battle, first it shows you that your hero increase in level and then in shows you the victory screen. I think it's more logical that you first see if you win the battle and then if some heroes level up, you show the level up screen.

I have used a software called "shift window" for playing Civilization IV. The only difference is that I think Civilization IV runs even if you do not have the right resolution. So using shift window to actually see what is missing can work. I have not tried with elemental, but since it prevent the software from running if you do not have the right resolution, shift window might not work.

By glancing at the threads of the mod section, it seems that people have starting their modding. There seem to be a lot of interestnig mods like the dragonlance and MOM mod. But there does not seem to be any centralization of all these mods. The idea is to be able to easily see what mods are available and at which version. So I was wondering if one day we could at least see a list of these mods on the "mods" page of this web site if it does not get integrated to impulse-reactor system

My girlfriend got stuck in a battle she could not win, she tried to retreat to the glowing area around the battlefield but it does not seem to work, she can't simply enter the glowing area. It would also be interesting to have a retreat button for resolving auto-battles.

When you gain new technology and can design new units, it could be interesting to be able to refit your old units according to new unit models and pay the difference for the extra equipment.

I have discovered yesterday a shocking truth : the earth is flat in elemental. Could it be possible to have simple wrap around maps on the sides and the top and bottom. It does not matter if the proportion simulate a real spherical world. Wraping on all side could also be logically explained by the north pole being in the middle of the map and the south pole being all around the map. Only the distances does not match. <

I tried it, and it does not work. The software really limit the resolution according to the monitor. But if I use the 1024x576 resolution on my TV, it works, but it's very ugly. So I think the software check the monitor capacity and if it can't be lower than 1024x768, it stops.

I can't unload troops either. I thought it was like in a city, select unit and right click, or click on the small arrow above the unit circle but they both not work. Is there a disembark command or I am missing something in the interface.

I tried changing the resolutin in the ini files. I did not find any prefs.ini file but I found the same entries in the default.ini file. Elemental still keep saying that the minimum resolution is 1024x768 and My netbook does no support the 32 bit mode. I only support 32 bit on my TV. But strangely it still run in 16 bits, but I get 2 large ugly yellow stripe on the screen. So I guess it's external monitor only.
