As the topic says, units I design do not show up in a city's list of trainable units. This happens on my PC (running Windows XP 32-bit) and my laptop (running Windows 7 64-bit), both using fresh installs of Elemental. Doesn't seem to matter how I acquired the city, designed units simply do not show up to be trained. The auto-designed ones do, though. No, if I have 100 then the sovereign has double mana. Presumably, if it's 100 + (100 * Shards) where Shards is 0 then they'll start with double. I'm using this as a test at the moment, so that if the Sovereign has double mana, the mod presumably works. In the end, I'll take that out so that it only affects them if they have shards.

Ah, ok. Didn't know if it always assumed 100% of essence. I was mostly doing the +100 to make sure that it was actually working. If the sovereign had double essence, it meant that the calculations were completing properly. This is my current Calculate code;
&n

I... do not, unfortunately. I see it used in SpellDef quite a lot, but was hoping it could be used in AbilityBonus/GameModifier, but it looks like it's not possible, as the end "Value" assignment seems to need a target, which is either none, TargetUnit or CastingUnit, and considering it needs UnitStat_NumEarthShards (or the like) it would need a target, I'd assume. EDIT: Stupidly, I think I overlooked the fact that only SpellDef uses targets, as I've seen different ValueOwners used in

I asked in the topic about adding a new sovereign ability, but my question was answered and I felt it was more relevant and useful to others to create a new topic. For example, say a Sovereign has Earth Mastery as one of their talents. I want to give them a 20% boost to essence, rather than just a 10% boost. But I'm not quite sure how to do this. I've tried looking around, but I don't think I'm using properly. Here's what I've got so far. Forgive how sc

I'm not sure which would be more Master of Magic-like. Probably that it should just be the units with the abilities. I'm not sure which, really. I've got it working for all units, I think, so I'll provide the code.
Champion_Talent<

I think I'm starting to see how this works. Sorry about being vague, I've been scouring the forums for tutorials and come up with stuff that I think might be outdated. Been poking through the code for the hotfix mod and trying to learn from it, but not done too well so far, apparently. Thanks for being so patient with me, just having a hard time getting to grips with all this. EDIT: To clarify what I'm trying to do, I'm just trying to double essense at the moment. Late

Oh, excellent! That's done it. Now it's not actually multiplying the Essense. I'm a tad new to this, and I'm not having much fun wrestling with the small amount of resources I can find. Is there actually a tag or have I misused AdjustUnitStat when it should be something else?

I'm trying to add in a few Master of Magic-esque abilities (trying to get the Mastery abilities at first), but they aren't showing up to character creation. I've been looking at the hotfix mods, and have been trying to base my code off that. However, I'm having a lot of trouble getting this new ability to show up in the creation screen. I've got the code below. I'm just trying stuff out, so ignore the values for now.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-

We love you too, Brad. We love you too. On a more serious note, although I might not have contributed a terribly large amount to the Beta, I have enjoyed it immensely. Seeing people get excited about a game, debate the mechanics and ideas and so forth has really inspired me. Out of curiosity Frogboy, you wouldn't happen to have any jobs going at Stardock, would you?

Exactly how I feel, Mike. Percentages make me sad, to be honest. I don't want to be 10% better at X than my opponent. I want to meet another player who has a totally different skill set from mine. I'm a superb enchanter and my towns grow really quickly, meaning I have heavily enchanted bastions of magic. The first opponent I meet has units that level up faster than mine, but cost more. If there's going to be +% talents and such, at least make them interesting, and huge

I've not noticed any fewer crashes. I'm a turtler though, so it just crashes out of the blue on me, usually when I'm building stuff or clicking the End Turn button. And also, I've not had a child in any of the games I've been playing so far, since the 1Z update. Or a wife, for that matter.

This can only be a good thing. Looking forward to the update. I've not contributed much in the way of bug reports, as whenever I seem to get one, someone else has beaten me to it. Should I still upload the save, debug.err and such?
I take it you aren't a programmer. A full, working version probably only gets put together and compiled once a week, if that. I think you underestimate how many things in a game obey Murphy's law. With a daily build you would be lucky to get past the loading screen w/o it crashing spectacularly.
Pretty much this exactly. Getting a nightly build at this stage would be unlikely, and the degrees of working things would vary

I'm not sure about quotes, but a practical (from a programming point of view, I suppose) would be to simply take two or three of their strongest attributes, compare it to an XML file (or whatever you'd like to use so players can make their own suggested names), and grab a name. So a unit with the best armour and high attack might be an "Iron Soldier", or something similar. A ranged unit with high attack and high speed, could be "Swiftfoot Scout/Ranger". You get the point, anyway.

I'm getting this, too. Sometimes it works fine, but it'll suddenly blur from time to time. I've got a slight problem. My wallet was stolen last week, and I only just got my new card today, so I couldn't change the details (I honestly don't know who to contact, either). Am I going to have to wait until next Beta? I've been excited about this game since its announcement, but I can wait if need be. Just got an e-mail that told me the transaction failed.

Thank you, Elemental Team. You've made me very, very happy. Don't change a thing. I'll be making my own modifications to this when I get the chance and have the time, as many others will. But this is going to be a great game from the get-go. I'm in Uni at the moment, and we're taught to make games we and our friends would enjoy. If it's a great game, it'll sell itself in a great deal of cases. Make something simple, polish, polish, polish. No point in making a huge gangly skeleton.</p

Ah, my favourite game of all time! Vastly diverse magic schools Not too complex, but not too simple city building and resource management The races were somewhat unique, in that each one required a different strategy Wizard customisation The exploring! Random maps == win The terrible AI. :P

Ah, Master of Magic. My old friend. I still play that daily, almost. Admittedly, I use the CD version, rather than the dozen or so floppy discs it used to require. Really looking forward to Beta 2. Going to get a nice LAN party going for it, when I can. First semester of Uni should finish up just as Beta 2 comes up.

I'm pretty certain Ultimate also has 'XP Mode', which does exactly what it says on the tin. Unless you've got a ludicrously new graphics card, it won't deal with DirectX 11. I've got a GTX 260, and as far as I know, it only gets as high as 10, but I'm using XP, so it's not a big deal. I'm waiting until I can push my RAM above 2Gbs (should have had 4, one of my sticks fried the moment the warranty ran out) to upgrade to Windows 7.
