Do you use a firewall like ZoneAlarm? Each time Elemental updates, zonealarm considers it a new program and I have to give ZA permission to let Elemental proceed (yes, even for a SP game, Elemental is trying to connect to something). I have to ctl-alt-del out and give ZA permission, then Elemental continues and starts up. Dunno if that's your problem, but check if you have a firewall.

[/quote]So, in the current release, the effect of localized resources is seen in 'modifier buildings' (that modify, say food production) modifying that cities' produced food (and not modifying the global food total)? How would customers of said software react should the software be released in a condition similar to Elemental's? For whatever reason, customers of computer

The idea being that the government (your Sovereign) makes an initial investment (the Caravan unit) and then once it arrives "private industry" takes over and somehow generates extra resources out of "nowhere" (presumably by making the whole process more efficient and cost effective than the government can by itself). A given city with a farm can produce a large amount, but it can only physically use so much of it, and a lot of it, theoretically, goes to waste. Caravans that are linked from a non-producing city to a producing city make less of it go to waste by transporting it to places where it can be used before it goes bad. This is represented by the ou

I got jumped by a foe with much higher power rating. I kicked the crap out of him, captured a dozen or so of his cities, decimated his forces. He was down to only a few cities and forces, and still wouldn't even consider a cease-fire. His perceived value for a non-aggression pact and peace treaty in the diplomacy screen (~3000 or so to my ~300) had hardly changed from when the war began. Seems to me that getting one

Falcon 3.0 came out in '91, Mig 29 musta been '92 or so. They were cutting edge at the time, and a lot of fun to fly against a friend instead of a computer foe. Add in the old Thrustmaster rudd

I think the released version of Elemental lost a lot of the 'vision thing' that was proposed early on. We did see very major changes to basic parts of the game, right up to release, and it sounds like more are to come. Maybe I'm wrong, but if I'm right, perhaps one of the reasons is that the vision got 'diluted' by player feedback. I'm not saying all player feedback was deleterious, or that some player feedback wasn't beneficial. Just saying that the 'vision thing'
