Wow, impressive! I gave it a go and it worked fine. SD should just implement this app into the game. :)

In the betas you had to build a structure ("training grounds" or something) before you could train units. They removed it because it made the early game quite boring. I think that was the right thing to do.
Because saying the way to fix elemental is to clone a different game is ridiculous?
Is it? To "fix" Elemental they need to make improvements, new features. Features that already exist in old games and that have been thoroughly tested. Take these features and improve them and behold, one game to rule them all. Reinventing the wheel however would be ridiculous.

I support any company that decides to make a fantasy TBS game. It might be Stardock, EA or some obscure russian developer, it doesn't matter, they deserve my money for even daring to produce a game of a such silly, narrow genre. I have no prior experience of or attachments to Stardock. I'm a bit baffled with how such an obviously unfinished product can be released because of one persons stubbornness, but also impressed with the total openness from the same person. Asking for r
To fix Elemental SD needs to take a closer look at these games mentioned above. What makes them fun and special? Example: My favorite, AoW:SM, has awesome tactical combat. Just copy it and make some improvements, or add a special Elemental twist to it. Triumph studios included a lot of suggestions from the players to SM, so in a way they already did the job for Stardock. I don't see the point in SD recreating something from scratch when they will in the end come up with the same solut
New version 0.12 is up. Download link in main post. :) Changes in 0.12: * Added race descriptions from AoW * Gave races proper terrains (Snow for Frostlings, Desert for Azracs, Fallen for other evil and Grass for Good races.) Todo: * Rebalance race traits * Create new sovereigns based on wizards from AoW2/SM Not sure I want to create new AoW-based sover
About minor factions. There should be some point in having them around instead of conquering them. Say, one minor faction is very good at taming horses/wolves, and if you trade with them you get mounts for your troops. If you conquer them, the mounts are gone. Or maybe if your territory surrounds the minor faction you get a bonus, or access to a rare resource.
The spellbook points should be separated from the rest of character creation, like in AoW where you get a number of "spheres". You can put all spheres into one spellbook and get really powerful spells, your you can distribute them over several books and get less powerful spells. And summoning should not be a low level spell.
ModelScale (e.g. 0.5000 ) in the unit xmls works (at least, it does for sovereigns and champions). I haven't tried using UnitScale in the Race/RaceType xmls, but if that isn't working, I imagine you could modify ModelScale for the actual units (assuming you're copying from CoreUnits.xml to make your own).
Very interesting, thank you!
Wow. This seriously limits the use of the map editor.
Bump. Anyone?
Quoting Magog_AoW, reply 9 Quoting _PawelS_, reply 7 Is it intentional that the Azracs have no special abilities? No... I'll fix it. Just have to get rid of an annoying jetlag. When you have some time, I think you should also create custom sovereigns (AoWSM wizards) and make them the leaders of these custom factions (not sure who should lead the Lizardmen). I believe such things can be done by X
Tried it out and 'fraid I didn't like it. Your choices seem a bit random to tell the truth, and a bit overpowered. I don't remember the AoW races the way you've recreated them here. You might be better off creating entirely new custom races without any "baggage" so to speak. Especially since the models and textures are so limited at the moment.
Thank you for trying it out!! This is version 0.1, I made it much for my own enjoy
I made new races that resembles the ones in AoW1. Or to be precise, new factions... Download here: www.shell.linux.se/dsk2293/other/ewom/Magogs_AoW_Races_for_Ewom_0.12.zip And put the unpacked files in your My docs/my game/elemental/race directory. Feedback is welcome. :) Changes in 0.12: * Added race descr
So I'm making some new factions. I want to make halflings and dwarfs, but for some reason the "Unitscale" tag in the XML seems to do absolutely nothing? Or am I missing something?
During one such exchange with my friend Ben Sones, I angrily responded with a statement “Ben, please stay away from our games in the future. I consider it ready for release and if others disagree, don’t buy our games.” This comment was totally out of line and I apologize for it. The main question, if EWOM is an AoW:SM killer, is for me about how much the tactical combat has been improved from beta. Or will be improved later. And while I agree with PawelS about the lack of interesting races, this is something that can be modded. My guess is that EWOM wont be killer of anything at release. But it could very welll be the fantasy TBS a year from now.
I have been looking forward to

Hey Brad, I want to buy a digital copy of the Heirgawhatever. Downloadable from Impulse. Please. :)
I haven't been in Stardock betas before so I didn't know what was coming. But I agree with other posters, what we tested was an Alpha rather than Beta. The Beta will be the release version, and six months after that the game will be complete. If that is the way Stardock do things I suppose it is ok. It was fun to be part of the process. However. For testing to be more successful the builds need to be more stable. If you can't run the game you can't test anything, simple as tha
If a game is available on both Steam and Impulse it seems to be always cheaper on Impulse for me. Steam converts $49 to €49, while Impulse converts it by using the correct exchange rates. Impulse need to have more titles available outside the US though. It is not very fun to find a cool game and then get "not available in your region". [e digicons]:'([/e]
