I am curious how you make new magic shards to use with new spell books. The XML files I modified are as follows: CoreResources CoreShards I've made several random maps and I cannot get my custom shard type to spawn on the map. Are there any other XML files that I need to modify?

Ok, I've got the music partially figured out. I will use Tarth as an example here...
Theme_ForestRefuge_BG 100 Theme_ForestRefuge_MG 100&l

I've been spending quite a bit of time this week on modding, learning the ins and outs of adding a new race and faction. Everything has been going great except I have run into one little snag. Try as I might, I cannot make heads or tails of the layeredmusic XML. It looked pretty straight forward when I first opened it. To add new music seemed like it would be a simple matter of creating a new layeredmusic group and then calling to it's ID in the faction configuration. </p

I'll check which items, I wanted to mention before I forget, sometimes when the centaurs die, they have female death sounds even though the units are all males. Items without weight (Some of these are vanilla I think): Humming Bird Pike Spectral Chain Shirt Sacrificial Dagger (Pretty sure this one is vanilla) Dancing shoes There were a few more that were on the guy that went to Avalon, but I

Some of the centaurs are scaled different than the others. I think it was the riders were smaller than some of the other ones. Also, not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but Drota stables produce quite a bit of food, 25. The Drota city was up to nearly 600 population early-mid game while everyone else was doing good to be at 250. I love the mod, I am doing a play through as a custom elf faction.

Originally the idea was to have them as the super-dark faction that would turn all passive attacks (fire, attack, cold, lightning) into a special kind of Chaos damage (rendering all magical resistances useless). Great spellcasters, causes insanity, that kind of stuff. Inspired by the R'lyeh

If the vanilla game is going to have permanent deaths, then the AI needs to be ready for that too. But it is not reasonable to expect AI changes based on a very small mod like this.
If by saying "Preferably by not getting them" you mean the AI should proactively avoid putting their champions in situations where losing and gainin
If this messes with the current AI setup, then maybe the AI setup needs to change?
Exactly. When the AI has been panned in the past, the battle cry around here has constantly been that the AI will be worked on towards the end. If that is the case, enabling the AI to deal with heroes with many injuries will probably allow it to deal with death as well.
I haven't had any problems with that. Edit: Actually I can't think of a scenario when I used multiple prereqs (of the same type). So I really don't know.
I was thinking of using it for racial and base class prerequisites among other things. Base classes would be rogue, fighter, healer, mage. These base classes would unlock generic traits and then the player would choose a promotion class

This would be handy for assigning Dominions type injuries that are based on the creature type, number of limbs, heads and any other oddities.

Can we assign more than one prerequisite now? I recall this being an issue in the past, I was wondering if one of the latest updates resolved the issue. I would test it, but I am at work atm.

A thousand times yes. It's things like this that add to the longevity of a game.

Make it so that the walls cannot be attacked by anything but a spells or a unit with the "siege" characteristic. This wall could go around a tactical map area, or just be in the middle, a-la Dominions. This wouldn't have to be a terribly soph

Upon completing a very simple quest, I was awarded with the spell "Confusion". The description reads that the spell causes targets to attack themselves. The spell targets a 9 square grid and does insane damage to low, mid level and high level opponents unless they resist or have low attack values. The spell only costs 15 mana and can be used by ANY champion, including henchmen. Once I was awarded this spell, there was no reason to cast any of the other damage spells and it could be sp

Excellent. I can think of some awesome ways to use this [e digicons]:andrew:[/e] . Dwarven Defenders with defensive bonuses based on the number of earth shards if they pass a turn for example.

Could you elaborate on using it for multiple abilities in the same spell def? Would it be a simple matter of creating booleans like "Is_Monk = 1" and then for example, have passing a turn modify dodge as follows "5 * Is_Monk" on down the list to capture all the abilities you want affected for different classes/unit types by passing a turn?
I use it, but I rather use Impulse/Gamestop, I dunno why, but it seems more user friendly. One of the main reasons I do know, is that Steam makes you put money in your account, and THEn buy the game, unlike Impulse where you simply gave it your card info and it was done. I recently bought a Steam game for 11 dollars, now I have 4 dollars sitting there for no reason other than they allow me only to put money in my account in numbers div
Yeah, dropbox doesn't have direct image URLs, so imageshack was the answer. Thanks again Kongdej!
Sure it does. Put the pic in the public folder, right click and choose "copy URL", then paste it in the forum. You can do this from the other folders as well, but you have to set the permissions first if you want people to see it, a lot easier to just do it from the public folder.
