I would like some spells with both good and bad effects, especially if they are castable on both allied and enemy units. Of course these are harder to deal with for the AI, so I'd say they should come with some hints for the AI. Spell Name: Hermit Kingdom Strategical Arcane Knowledge: 200 (a lot by mid-game standart) Mana required to cast: 30, is also an enchantment Shards: 2 Earth. Enchan

Reply to Stealth? in War of Magic

I created a new post in the ideas forum. I hope it gets in if it is not in already :).

Are there any plans to implement stealth in Elemental? The term stealth meaning units who can inherently hide in any tile (rogues, assassins, thieves) or in a tile containing a certain terrain (rangers in the forest for example). If there are no current plans, please consider adding it! Stealth would allow for strategic ambushes, different strategies and a variety of new units who depend on subterfuge instead of brute force. :)

Pedro, That is exactly what I mean :). I would like to see general stealth (Rogues, assassins), and terrain related stealth, (rangers, scouts in the forest) etc.

Has there been any mention of stealth in Elemental? Stealthy rogues, assassins and the like? Units who can hide in forest tiles etcetera?

It seems the Devs are leaning more towards what is easy to implement and some of the more zealot SD fans agree. To hell with that! I want complexity! There is something to be said for the replayability that comes from a game with layers of cool stuff going on, even if it is hard to implement or makes your brain hurt to try to get it right. The easy way seldom yields the best results.
Mostly they're from non-beta testers. Some have been from people anxious to get into the beta. Others are people who want us to get to beta 3 (where the graphics are turned on). And still others are people who believe that if we don't release it "soon" that we'll get buried by Civ V and then no one will make a "real" (whatever that means) fantasy strategy game. I still hope for the game to come out in 3rd quarter but if we're not happy, we'll push it to 1st quart

Upon entering another Sovereigns territory, I was given a diplomacy screen to negotiate passage. If you choose the option to leave the territory, the diplomacy screen pops up again over and over making it impossible to take any other game action.

This thread is win. How often does someone make a half dozen accounts to try to get their ideas pushed into a game. These Cylons approve! The best one I have ever seen: A lady needed to remote desktop to her computer in her office from her laptop while she was training new employees. For some reason she was unable to connect to her office computer from her laptop. I went to her office to solve the problem and could not find her computer. I went and got her and brought her to her office, I thought maybe the computer was a small form factor hidden in a very clever place. (I should have followed the monitor

Bogus the Troll bio: I like short walks on the beach, liberating virgins, attacking commanders, sieging castles, going berserk, wearing heavy armor, cutting Hoburgs in half with my huge sword and I need alcohol to get through the day.

Ruh roh the name calling has started. Someone doesn't agree with you; call them a dumb redneck. It seems liberals get waddy-panties when you question their religious beliefs [e digicons]:P[/e] .

It is very important that you all keep in mind that liberals put out a memo on Jan 1st. It is no longer called "global warming". For now on it is to be referred to as "Global Climate Change". Any attempt to call it "global warming" will be met with ridicule for now on. Liberals reserve the right to change the term back to "Global Warming" at the beginning of summer. That will be all. Thank you for your compliance and have a glorious day.

The most important part of the road debate for me is really aesthetics. Master of Magic and the Civ series did a great job of uglying up a map with roads as the game progressed. Whatever the final solution, please at least make the roads unobtrusive, blending into the map as much as possible.
don't buy the game. That's what I did in the case of Dominions 3. I would prefer that not have to be the case with Elemental. That's why I don't want the same kind of ridiculous mechanics tainting the game (Hence the thread.) I don't want another Dominions game.
Most of the stuff you are complaining about wasn't in the Dominions 3 demo. So I highly doubt you will buy Elemental or any game you don't have to. Why should any d

Exploration was great due to world size and randomization. Unique Heroes that you found each game. it was like bumping into an old friend :). Apocalyptic end game spells besides the Spell of Mastery.
Curses are permanent, but No. There is no "but." It's an untreatable affliction. That alone makes it odious to me. In a game where you wield world shaking powers and craft god-killing artifacts, there is a certain expectation of control over that world on top of what you normally expect out of a strategy game. When you take away that control, you are weakening the game.
So what if they cannot be cured? The effects sure can be avoided and cured eas

The Ozar guy is not giving you people the whole story. The developers of Dominions have never come out and given any attitude that would suggest NO, YOU WILL PLAY THE GAME OUR WAY AND NO WE WILL NOT REMOVE THEM QUIT ASKING. The truth is very few Dominions players complain about horror marks, curses and especially insanity, so they didn't change it because the majority of players wanted it left in. They are up to version 3.23 of the game and all the changes are bug fixes,
