These people are there 24-7 to post immediately if you post a dissenting remark. Most aspire to work there, are beta testers, or other types of coders. I found one guy who was actually a beta tester there. His name is Dale. He can say whatever he wants to you in response to your post, but when you reply back even briefly it is t
Ah the old "fun" argument. That's great. I mean, great that you are having fun with your toy but it's incredibly boring to those of us who like to be challenged. In this case, the broken gameplay mechanics mean that theres really not much room for strategies; it's all "infinite city sprawl." This in turn has gutted multiplayer because it turns into those who know the strategy and win and those who are "just having fun" and
No offense, but I and a number of other SD game owners I know are not happy about this. Civ 5 was (in my own opinion and plenty of others) watered down to the point of embarrassment and effectively killed the Civ series for a lot of old time Civ fans. Alot of us came to Stardock games since they are still one of the few studios making strategy games that require a bit of thought. Civ 5 is by all appearances a big com
Thank you for your post, it's good to see some optimism here
Indeed. With the all star team of talent that Stardock has assembled to improve Elemental, I am very optimistic for the future. [e digicons]:bebi:[/e]
Just started a game where I had fertile land, a crystal deposit, an iron deposit, the +5 tech thingee, +5 arcane thingee, a water shard and an air shard. All close to my starting city. Fun. [e digicons]:bebi:[/e]
You can raise land with a spell. [e digicons][/e] It wouldn't be an island anymore though... I do hope that they have all kinds of ships, harbours and maritime stuff in the expansions anyway.
Quoting brycex99, reply 141Okay, this is kinda confusing to me... Civ 5 has been out for awhile now right? Thing is, I've only heard good things about it. Where is all this Civ 5 hate coming from? I actually haven't played the game myself so I have no way to judge, but is it just a few people that loved Civ 4, so no matter how Civ 5 played it was going to be bashed by these people? Or was it one of those.. 2 months later
I quite enjoyed playing GalCiv II with all its expansions. [e digicons]:inlove:[/e] I've also heard good things about Distant Worlds. May have to check that out sometime.
I am personally hoping for that old school fantasy standby, chainmail bikinis myself. [e digicons]:D[/e]
Bah! Young people with high metabolisms! Age will fix that. [e digicons][/e] Hee hee...
All the cool guys/gals are coming to Stardock/Elemental. [e digicons]:bebi:[/e]
Sadly I don't know who this third person is. [e digicons]:'([/e] However, it sounds like another positive step for Stardock. So welcome back, old employee person.
Glad to have another talented person hired by Stardock to improve Elemental. [e digicons][/e] I wasn't happy with Civilization 5 but I think 2K Games deserves a lion's share of the blame there. Also, no one is perfect. Lord knows, I'm not. So welcome Jon Shafer.
Elemental is awakening indeed. [e digicons]:inlove:[/e]
Personally, I was extremely disappointed with Civiilization 5 but that's no reason to be rude to Jon Shafer. The lion's share of the blame with Civilization 5 has to go to 2K Games and Firaxis in my opinion for trying to appeal to the mass market and dumbing down the game. I'd wager that that certainly wasn't Jon Shafer's vision. I for one, am happy Jon Shafer is joining Stardock. I am positive he will make Elemental very mod friendly and will also be a
Definitely agree that they have to do something about water. They need resources in the ocean to make it more useful.
The specialist system sounds good and the building maintenance should cut down on city spam to an extent or at least early in the game. The new global magic system I am not so sure about. I guess the proof will be in the pudding/patch.
Maybe I am missing something here but is the above poster having an argument with himself??? [e digicons]o_O[/e] I like lots of lore myself. I loved the story behind Fall from Heaven and all the work Kael put into it. I also like the story behind Elemental. It definitely could use some more fleshing out though. I would definitely like to see a well done mod with Dwarves, Elves, Halflings, Orcs etc as well.
Having played all the Civs starting back in 1991, I can definitely say I do not like Civilization 5. The combat system definitely is improved but the problem is that the combat AI (and much of the rest of the AI) is so abysmal that it ruins it. Firaxis has a lot of work to do. I quite like the Elemental combat system. It does need some more fleshing out and balancing but it's a very good base. :) I also loved the way Age of Wonders handled combat. [e digicons]:inlove:[/e]
Very well written. [e digicons]k1[/e] I too loved playing the Age of Wonders series and Master of Magic. True classics. Elemental has enormous potential and so much room to grow. Glad I'm on board.
I'll admit I found it strange when I met another faction who had a much bigger military than I had. So they declared war on me. A while later, that faction (whom I am still at war with) tells me this other faction (which I have never met) is getting too powerful and that I should declare war on them. [e digicons]#:([/e]
Hee hee. I see there are many people I recognize here. Anyway, I bought the Elemental WOM special edition last month and I thought I'd really get into it now. Cool to see you here. :)
I too find Civilization 5 to be extremely dull. Extremely disappointing game. Elemental is a breath of fresh air. It's not perfect by any means but I find it fun now and it's just going to get better. I loved Master of Magic, Age of Wonders and Fall from Heaven II. If its a blend of those games then its truly going to be fantastic. [e digicons]:inlove:[/e] I also must concur in that it's very cool to
