They should make it exactly like MoM. All attacks were simultaneous and only units with the "first strike" ability could attack without chance for counterattack (I think Paladins and some other mounted units had this ability). Bottom line is that MoM's combat system worked and scaled well. EWoM's does not. I don't care if it's the same as MoM or not, but I agree with the poster who said they shouldn't reinvent the wheel if it wasn't broken to begin with. Creating a c

I think you nailed it, Norhg. While the basic units should improve with those techs (squad size and training), a direct multiplier is ridiculous. Thinking of MoM, a unit of hammerhands for instance (dwarven unit), could be improved with mithril weapons if built in a city near mithril. They could achieve elite status, etc, but there was nothing like having a unit's attack multiplied by 36. That's just crazy. It was a solid unit when you could finally built it, and

I like the idea of switching the points per level from 1 to 3. That may help somewhat. I just remember heroes from MoM being really cool, especially "The Chosen" (from a life book spell). Those guys rocked. I also feel like heroes and your sovereign in particular are the stars of the show in an rpg strategy game. They are the "rpg" part. The fact they take a back seat in this game doesn't sit well with me. Right now, one experienced big group of dud

This has been discussed before, but I want to chime in with the fact that sovereigns are incredibly weak compared to mid-to-late game units. They suck basically for everything except as a taxi driver. Please fix this. This is one of the primary shortcomings of this rpg strategy game. Who wants to be a sucky character in a world full of units that can easily wipe him out?

I have the exact same problem. I have shards spawning all over the place, and it has nothing to do with research. In fact, at one point, I had a Lost Library get replaced with a shard. It was weird because the Lost Library image was on the map, and some game elements thought it was still a lost library (like the exclamation mark that told me I could build on the Lost Library), but whenever I hovered over the tile, it said "Water shard". I could never build the Lost L

I had this same bug in 1.05. I had a save right before fighting the spiders and no matter how many times I loaded and beat them, I never saw the armor. I even tried emptying out my sov's inventory completely before the fight, and still no armor. I even checked the inventory of every unit in my army. My sov is kingdom of men, btw. It simply didn't exist anywhere. I've yet to actually see it. I believe the same thing happened with Moriah's lost spell

I agree that shards are useless right now in tactical. I have three of every shard type with 16 intelligence, and I don't think I've ever seen more then 20 points of damage done by my best spells to even guys with 0 defense. Something needs to be done to fix magic right now because it's whack. I focused my sovereign on magic and he's probably the weakest character I've got, especially since the quests are so bugged. Never received Alzor's armor after completing the q

When I click to place a new building in a city, often the game immediately moves/shifts my perspective and places the structure in a totally different place. It's like the game tries to center the screen on the city or something right when I click, then it builds the structure at wherever the mouse happens to be at that moment. This is incredibly frustrating, and it happens a lot. I've had it happen when I'm zoomed way in and when I'm zoomed out. I think it happens l

I had a party of 4 advanced observers (the logistics warfare tech that let's you make an army comprised of 3 or 4 guys - I can't remember exactly how many). This little army unit was doing a good job cleaning up my lands until after re-loading a save game when it got transformed into a single advanced observer. The unit was full health when I saved, and they were basically parked in-between several cities where my caravans traveled. They were just sitting there keeping the p

What is the result of completing this quest supposed to be? I completed it, and it said I could research new spells as a result. I see no new spells. Will they have "Moriah" or somesuch on the spellbook name? Can someone give me a spell or two that is researchable as a result of completing this quest, so I can check? It certainly didn't look like anything new popped up. Or does it do something completely different? Basically, I can't discern any res

Well, I tried this last night. I gave my midnight stones to another champion and offloaded a couple more items, but it didn't help. There's still no armor in sight. Has anyone successfully received the armor? It's a pain to go through all the hassle of finally getting an army that can defeat that powerful spider force only to be greeted with a fresh, heaping load of jack squat.

I didn't have what I'd consider a ton of inventory. I had maybe four midnight stones and about seven total other items. I will try that though to see what happens. One thing of note, however, is that I did jump into that dungeon when I first was able to, only to run for my life. The battle I spoke about above came many turns later. So... is there a bug that causes the quest reward to not be given out if you enter then bail on a dungeon and come back later? It

I beat the spiders, got the window that says I found Alzor's armor, but now that the fight is over, the armor is nowhere to be found. I've looked in everyone's inventories and walked around a bit. The armor got sucked into the void trying to make it into my game.

As far as merge units causing the problem, this happens at the very beginning of turns. My army will be together for awhile and this will happen turn after turn. Are there really movement penalties? Can someone confirm this? Exactly what terrain has penalties? This is the only thing that could explain what is happening other than a bug, but I thought I've seen other units cruise through the exact same squares without penalty before. I'll look for that as

I tried it again today after the pre release update, and it definitely bugs out frequently. I haven't tried the very latest release build (I'm downloading it right now). Sometimes my army travels at the speed of my sovereign, but most of the time they do not. His army starts with four movement points then goes down by two each square traveled (several turns in a row). Sometimes I can fix it by exiting the game and re-loading. This is pretty frustrating.

Excellent feedback. I think I agree with everything you've said here (I'm a little tired to be sure). While Elemental is a great game, and is getting better, I think they succumbed to a very common gaming interface plague - they made an interface that "looked cool" then they tried to give it function. UX design should always start the other way around. The interface should be made incredibly functional, with consistent patterns for things like actions, statuses, desc

Hopefully I can help because I had the exact same question and didn't find any real help in the forums. Several people who asked the question, later responded that they "kinda" figured it out (you have to research in the Adventure branch), but they were very vague. It's very nice to post the answer to your own question if you do figure it out, otherwise it will be asked a thousand times. Hopefully, someone can respond with exact detail, but I at least have enough info to g

I wasn't in the beta. I downloaded just this morning. I'm pretty certain I let my sovereign's army (just him and the summoned bear) walk from one city to another over several turns, only to be shocked at how slow they were getting there. If I recall, my sovereign would read as having 4 movement points at the beginning of the turn, but as soon as I moved one space, it jumped down to 2 points, then down to 0 after the next space. For awhile I thought, "maybe there's so

No matter what I try, whenever I add any unit to my sovereign (who has 4 movement), he gets slowed down to the slowest unit with him. What gives? While I love the potential of this game, it's incredibly buggy currently. Please fix.

I trade stuff with other factions, say I want gold for materials - they take my materials, but I don't get any gold. What's up with that? Basically, anytime I've traded for gold, I get none, even though they "accept" and everything looks like it went through ok.
