[BUG] Party unit transformed into single unit after loading game

I had a party of 4 advanced observers (the logistics warfare tech that let's you make an army comprised of 3 or 4 guys - I can't remember exactly how many).  This little army unit was doing a good job cleaning up my lands until after re-loading a save game when it got transformed into a single advanced observer.  The unit was full health when I saved, and they were basically parked in-between several cities where my caravans traveled.  They were just sitting there keeping the peace, but several of them got assassinated by the loading mechanism.

Has anyone else seen this?

Yes, also when units go into a city with defense structures the added hitpoints are counted as damage or something, because sometimes you loose half your troop (eg from 9 knights to 4).

I've seen two different situations crop up:

1) Units don't seem to save their group size properly, so a Company reduced to 5hp (1 man) when loaded from the save game is turned into a single troop.

2) Units moved into a city (and possibly other situations that grant bonus HP for defense) get their size recalculated permanently.

It seems like there's some shortcuts being taken in tracking group size.  Somewhere the game is calculating number of troops in a unit by dividing unit HP by troop HP and rounding off.  That would be fine except for one big problem: in some critical places it's using current unit HP/troop HP where it should be using max unit HP/troop HP.  This is especially noticable with cities, where it's exacerbated by the fact that bonus fortification HP are added to max hp but not current hp.

This is more a symptom of the bigger issue with how groups are handled: rather than being sets of discreet units (like, say, MoM), they seem to be just a big monster with stats equal to a base trooper times X, and the calculations for stats vs. X go both directions, causing all sorts of mess.

I've mentioned this is another thread, and it's very annoying.  The most irritating part is when the game recalculates the number of units based on percentage of max HP, then recalculates max HP based on the number of units, so you end up with a team of Umberdroths reduced to a single one without ever taking a single point of damage, and no way to increase it again since the game thinks it was only ever one!  This also can occur when a group of units levels up, particularly if they level-up multiple times in one battle or if there are a large number of troops in the group.

Just wanted to ditto here - I experienced this bug in my campaign and don't really think playing is worth it until this is fixed, I hope it's highest priority.

I have exactly the same issue. Every time I either reload a game (even if the units ar not stationed in cities) or let my parties/squads etc heal in cities their number crews up. This makes these techs quite useless... on the other hand when and as long as parties work they seem quite overpowered.
