I was under the impression that magic would be a scarce resource, especially after the cataclysm. It certainly doesn't feel this way right now. I feel like I can cast anything, anytime if I really wanted to. It would be nice if at the start of the game, for example, the player started with only a couple of spells and only got the chance to add more to their spell book by capturing shards. Right now I just don't feel like magic shards are all that important which is unfortunate because I assum

I think you have this forum confused with someplace else...
quoting post One of my favorite shows on TV is Avatar, the last airbender (not to be confused with the recent movie). One of my long term goals with the AI is to be able to have the AI in tactical battles be able to give the kinds of battles back and forth with players (as well as eventually in MP as well) that I see on that show. Of course, such an AI will take probably years to reach that level but we have the luxury
I have an Intel X-25M 80GB SSD I've been using since December and I love it. All my apps and important games are on it and the speed difference is huge when compared with a mechanical drive.
I agree with you. It seems the terrain is littered with too many "goodie huts" and quest locations. With so many all around you. it sort of cheapens their existence. I am afraid, however, that the reason there are so many of them there is because SD doesn't really have anything else to make the land more interesting.
I think the game has evolved to the point where building cities is a core part of the game. In fact, I don't know how you would find it fun to not pursue city-building since the current questing mechanics are generic and uninteresting.
Good post. I think what is causing a lot of people like you and I to choose this game over "ol'reliable" Civ V is how much potential Elemental has. To be honest, I don't think Brad realizes just how ambitious Elemental really is. If SD can make questing, city building, and strategic combat actually work then Elemental will be game of the decade.
That. Looks. Amazing. Porcipinee looks like a real woman now instead of a blow-up doll :P
Quoting Frogboy, reply 4There's going to be major additions in the 1.x version. The horrible reviews do have a silver lining, we (you guys and us) have the opportunity to do some major good stuff that would normally raise eye brows in a non-sequel. Please lets not restart the cycle of hype. Can we just work on getting Elemental up to a reasonable release standard, before worrying about awesome eyebrow raising?
I agree with this. The most jarring issue for me is, as you said, the availability of increasing my combat speed when my sovereign gains a level. Your solution of having CS automatically increase at a fixed rate is exactly the one I was throwing around in my mind. Good stuff.
So has anyone else noticed the weird point costing system in the custom sovereign creation screen? What I am talking about is how individual stats (like strength, dexterity etc...) cost 3 points but end up costing only 1 point if that point is your last one left. Wouldn't it be more intuitive to have stats always cost 1 point? That way if there are any points left over they can simply be dumped into the stat section. This is one of those things where I am not sure if this is a
Good to have you back boss :)
I agree with the OP. Having units move at the beginning of the turn is a little unintuitive.
So this essentially means I won't be able to get any further updates to the game without resorting to either impractical or outright unreasonable means, like re-downloading the entire game everytime an update is released or visiting my neighbours to use their internet connection instead.
Unfortunately, at this point, it seems you have no choice but to enter the 21st century.
Maybe next time don't pre-order a game over a year in advance? I'm surprised Stardock's policy gives you 90 days. Most retailers give you 30 days at most to return unopened software that you "don't like".
Do you have a debug.err file or dump file you can post?
Updated with info on how to reproduce bug.
I had just updated to 1.07 and decided to start fresh with a new game and new sovereign. Once I had finished customizing his traits and equipment, I came upon the final creation screen where I was presented with the 'cancel' and 'save' buttons (I believe this is the screen where you choose the background and motto for your sovereign). As soon as I pressed 'save' Elemental crashed and I got an "Elemental has stopped working" message. Debug file: htt

Can you post the dump file from the time of the crash? The file is located in C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - War of Magic (ProgramData is a hidden folder, make sure you can view those) You can upload the file to a free file hosting site or www.dropbox.com Also, can you post your dxdiag file by uploading its contents to http://pastebin.ca/ ? You can do a Direct X Diagnostic by going to Start -> Run -> and type "dxdiag
