No place is. No matter who one is or what cirumstances one finds themselves in there are still those things that I mentioned above that enter into all lives. This life is, to be sure, is sprinkled with moments of joy and happiness, but those moments are brief, they are strong enough to command our attention however. In doing so when we recall the times of our lives what we will recall more than anything else are those good things, those enjoyable things. It only m

Why do you think that it sucks? If one holds onto this life how can one move onto the next existance? This world is not a paradise, and the next one won't be either other than it will at first appear to be so since so much of what happens to us here will not happen to us there ( like sorrow tears, pain, grief, the death. etc.), but the alternative is what really sucks. The alternative is the death. A total loss of everything, including self awareness.

Yes, Paul did write most of the OT, and for a good reason. In order to explain, for the simple reason that when one gives an explanation it is highly unlikely that others will go looking for themselves for the answers. If that doesn't happen then one is unlikely to find the truth. The reason for "faith" (believing that this is the truth) having to be followed up by "acts" (actually making the effort to discover the truth for oneself). One is no good without the other.<

Being "born again" does not mean in spirit after one dies or even before one dies. It means exactly what it says..........born again. The exact same thing that Jesus did, what some call the "resurrection". The leaving behind of the physical body for a body made of finer stuff that is just as real as the physical body is. A transference that takes place I might add without a loss of self awareness.

Why should I not chose to listen to those that sat at the feet of the master over one that did not? Paul could have said anyone including Jesus spoke to him, and there would have been no one to contradict him. He was after all hunting "christians" and it's quite obvious to anyone that he would have been traveling with like minded people. It's not a great leap of imagination to understand that when attacking something from the outside isn't working a change of tactic is in

The whole NT was written about Jesus, the only true teacher. If you think it was about Paul, then you obviously do not follow in his footsteps. Who is your master, the man Paul who was never an apostle, or the man Jesus who gave proof to the world that death can be overcome, and passed this knowledge down to his chosen apostles so that they could spread the good word? A show of humility means nothing other than show. I must say that indeed Paul does speak of hi

"No, the only way we can have the peace and joy and assurance is to believe Christ when he said those that come to him can have eternal life. When we come to him, he says, we can have life more abundantly." Tell me, how are you going to "go to Christ" if he is not dead and you are? Or are you planning to join him while you still live? Or do you expect to be reborn after death? Which sounds a bit like reincarnat

"just like the Holocaust never existed? Besides what Lula said in her answer, the whole world turned upside down as a result of this one man. There's more written about him than any other figure in history in any country. His book continues to this day to be a best seller of all time. Even our calendar changed as a result of his birth, life and death among us." The whole world turned upside down............hardly. This world is pretty much as it

So sorry, I don't know why this posted twice, and the edit button is not working or I'd have erased the other.

How can the scripture describe something that had never existed before? The word church was not in existance. There must have been another hebrew word used that was translated into "church". A word that doesn't necessarily mean church, but has been translated into it in order to give the infant CC the authority it needed. For many years after Jesus's death the only rememberance of his life was celebrated in the homes of indiviudals and in

Jesus never said a word about the catholic church Lulapilgrim. You seem to be making huge leaps of assumption there. There is no proof either that there was an infant church during his time either. It would be just a bit hard to give something to someone that does not yet exist. Jesus did tell Peter that he was the "rock" upon which his church would be built, but that does not in any way mean that he meant for Peter to start a new religion, it could ver

I certainly wasn't speaking of Jesus. I don't believe that Jesus has existed within the CC for a very, very long time. Perhaps at the beginning but as with all things that man creates (the church), it is not all that long before it becomes as corrupt as the men who make the body of it. (Good example the jewish sandhedrin during Jesus's time) He isn't even quoted by most catholics, they prefer instead to quote St. Paul. Why..............I have absolutely no

"Yes, the CC is the Mystical Body of Christ. As to your last question, we don't condemn the whole family if one of its children went wrong. Believe me when I say that when any of the religious (priests, nuns, or deacons) go wrong, all Catholics are hurt...for we are one body see Eph. 4:4-6." Yes, one body, and when part of the body is diseased the entire body suffers, however when the head of that body is diseased the entire body is also. As angry as I'm sure this is going to ma

Is not the CC the body of it's members? The church would surely not exist without them. And if parts of the body are corrupt is not the whole body also? It is after all the whole that allows the few to operate. Where is the evidence that Jesus existed? To my knowledge no such evidence exists. The apostles also got their teachings from Jesus did they not? And who's to say that St. Paul received his teachings directly from Jesus? Were ther

I would like to ask a question since you appear to be quite the expert on catholicism and I couldn't help but notice that you do this thing yourself as indicated in your last post. Why do most if not all catholics quote St. Paul as having the defintive word on what one needs to do to save their soul and not the master himself, Jesus? Has he somehow gotten lost in your religion and simply become god and a sacrificial lamb given to save one's soul and take your sins

Who is to say what is "good" and what is "evil"? How can one take the word of the HRCC for it when the church is known to have done "evil" in it's time and in the minds of many continues to do so. What is "good" charity and love and what is "evil" charity and love? And who defines it? Was he not the one true god of all nations from the beginning?

Your story brought forth very painful memories for me. As awful as they are, I am glad that I bothered to read your post. I can't say that I agree with KFC's post about the young and the old. I don't think that living longer or maturing in faith is any indication of more understanding. Sometimes the elderly are the quickest to condemn, so sure are they in their own ways, and what they quite mistake for knowledge.

Upon reading this discussion, I'd like to ask a question: Just what are "good works", and just who defines what "good works" are?
