Great and everything, but where exactly does making the game fun fit in? As it is now, the game is a huge mess where there is nothing to do early on, and dragging the game on becomes a chore.

As it is right now, the game offers me nothing that I enjoy. On the contrary, I am quite annoyed with the game, because it is completely unclear to me what I need to do in order to move ahead. The game is just a clickfest with little indication if I perform well or not, or if I make the right choices or not. Also the game is very choppy despite having a decent rig. I have heard stories of people asking for and receiving refunds. What does one need to do to get a refund?

By the way, does anyone else have problems with resources like ore showing on the map but being unable to actually improve them? Also I have trouble in getting an army strong enough to do anything at all. If I leave my cities, bandits capture it. If I send out single units to scout, they auto explore in circles rather than going places. So far I am far fromimpressed with this game. :(

So my idea is to make the capitol start with a labor pit. Basically it is the first thing you will want to build anyway, and therefore each and every one of my games started with me selecting a labor pit right after founding an empire. Now I was thinking this god really old real fast, especially since there are no other viable options left.

It's good to see the elemental machine is humming along nicely. :) On the issue of the UI, can we mayube get a warning when there are things that urgently need attention? For example, it is way too easy to end a turn when scouting units still have moves left. Therefore if you forgot a unit, it remains motionless for quite a while without the player noticing it. Also we may want to build something in our settlements, and it is easy to forget that too. Like for example when

Good to hear that I am not the only one who found 3A boring. To me, the system seems too diffused between questing and city building and diplomacy that I barely have an idea what I need to do in order to advance at all. Everything seems promising, but I cannot seem to find out what I need to do. The game is disappointing so far, but I hope beta 3B will make everything interesting again. :)

As the title says. I set the resolution to 1680 x 1050 and that caused the game to crash very soon. At the default way too low resolution the game consistently crashes as well, but it takes way longer. The game is completely unplayable for me, because it crashes each and every time. dxdiag debug.err (Pastebin hangs whenever I post this, dxdiag is fine but debug wont upload, sorry) [removed]

Hmmm. The game is sometimes a bit choppy for me when I try to zoom in or out or sidescroll a bit. I am surprised to see the exact same thing in a video that you guys post. Also I note that your cloth map is actually very much usable. My cloth map is barely usable, because I need to zoom out pretty far to get it and once it shows up, the icons on it are rather small and some of them I cannot even tell what they are any more. I need to zoom in to take a peek, which very much defeat

Quick question. BETA2 crashed for me several times. I did not get to upload a bug report however. because pastebin is weird on my browser. How can I upload my dxdiag and debug.err without posting it in the post itself? ALso, we need either code or spoiler tags so that we can post on these boards inside an expandable box.

It seems to me that calling how much mana a spell requires is moot at this stage because we know not how verything will work out. However, I think we need much more subtle stuff than nuking spells and spells that work in combat. We need spells with an upkeep that are effective as long as the caster maintains the spell. The spell remains effective as long as you keep paying the upkeep. You can then for example enhance diplomatic relations with others, or enhance the rate with which lan

I think the unit scaling needs a bit getting used to, but they are both fine. In the end I think I prefer the pieces zooming since then they are always optimatically visible. On a sidenote, when you zoom out enough you get the clothmap, right? It seems to me that once the clothmap finally appears, the icons on it are way too small for me to make anything out of it. For perhaps these grain icons and such this is fine because I can tell what they are, but there were some little icons th

I was wondering how much of this is placeholder and how much is pretty much final. P.S. Oi... This thread is up for a day or two and it has hit 9 pages. Is there anything to add still to the discussion for those just joining in? I feel that tactical combat should be played on random maps. Premade ones can indeed be more interesting, but it will also allow for moe cheese tactics down the road because you can always exploit the same AI weaknesses that we will find in the same way, over and over again. Random terrain prevents this somewhat. Also with a
