Hit Control-U to remove the fog of war and see the whole map.

All true, Flarelocke, and good information. So far I'm finding it easier to capture someone else's cities than to build a lot of my own. That will of course change as the game development progresses [e digicons][/e]
If you level up your sovereign through combat you'll get extra essence that you can use to build more cities.
I haven't been keeping count. I've lost a few games through getting my sovereign killed, but never won one, mostly because of CTDs.
I've seen those attacks on 0/0 units also. I think you're right about them being caravans.
Here's an opponent walled off from the rest of the map by mountains. Debug Message: Map Random Seed: 1253986747
This has been reported before, and in most cases it seems that waiting until the next turn allows you to attack. But I've run into a couple of cases where it seems like you have to wait until the sovereign leaves his own territory to be able to attack. Nothing I've been able to pin down and reproduce, though.
I think there's some progress being made here. I just started 20 games, used Ctrl-U to remove the fog of war, and didn't see a single bad starting location (other than the river problems which you've said you don't need any more reports of). Either I've hit an incredible run of luck, or things are very different from a day or two ago. [e digicons][/e]

.23 build again. I don't know if the devs consider this a bad starting location, but just in case - it's right next to a troll - this is turn 1. Debug Message: Map Random Seed: 1253854550
If you right click on Elemental in Impulse and choose see history, it will show the changes for .23. I'm not Stardock, but I'd guess that anything listed there as fixed that still doesn't work for you should be reported.
Kryo just said on IRC that the save/load game issue will probably be solved sometime next week.
Road building was said to be fixed in .23, and indeed it seems to be working much better. [e digicons][/e]
I should note that if I hit the next turn button, the turn counter increments OK. But if I have autoturn turned on and am just moving my sovereign around, it does not increment.
I hadn't noticed this before the .23 build, but I've got to admit I hadn't looked closely before. The turn counter above the minimap (and I know the minimap isn't implemented yet, but I thought the turn counter was working before) is incrementing only in big jumps, not on every turn. For example, I went from turn 69 to turn 97 with the counter not incrementing in between. Now it's been stuck on turn 97 for at least 10 turns.
With the .23 patch. River flowing too far into a lake: Debug Message: Map Random Seed: 1253838308
Yes, in this beta it seems that loot owned by a defeated enemy is lost. I killed a sovereign that had just defeated a troll leader, which normally yields a ring of power, but got nothing from defeating him. Hopefully this will be changed in later betas.
Rivers running too far into the sea. Debug Message: Map Random Seed: 1253764696
Again, opponent pretty close. This is on turn 2. Debug Message: Map Random Seed: 1253762546
This screen shot is from the 1st turn, I have an opponent right next to me. Debug Message: Map Random Seed: 1253762105
Glavius, I agree. I think they do actually have travellers, as I've seen (1) expanded areas of vision moving along the roads and (2) an attack by a spider on a "caravan" of mine when the spider was on the road. I have no idea what the "caravan" was doing (it was nothing that I explicitly created), but I expect that it will be further developed as the beta progresses.
I'm not entirely sure that this hasn't been reported before, but I don't see it on Kryo's bug list. I hit a CTD when clicking on the "build town" button. dxdiag, debug.err, and memory dump sent to fogbugz.
Is this too close to an opponent? On this map I also started right next to a spiderweb. Debug Message: Map Random Seed: 1253751923 Edited: It's worse than I thought, I explored a few more moves and found another opponent close by. See second screen shot. <img src="http://content.screencas
I hit this for the first time today.
I took your latest survey, Sammual, but I had to leave the questions about hangs on victory unanswered - I've never been able to win a game, since I'm always stopped by the crash on next turn bug. [e digicons]:S[/e]
