No, the debug.err file is created all the time (except for .802 when it got accidentally turned off). It's the dump .dmp or .zip file that's produced on a crash.
In the earlier betas, at the start of the game your sovereign was always placed close to a tile of fertile land, suitable for building a farm on. In Beta 2 this seems to no longer be the case. In only one of the Beta 2 games I've played has a food source been visible within the vision range of my sovereign at the start, and it was "twilight bees". In that game I founded a city there and tried to research apiary, but crashed out of memory on turn 80 before ever getting apiary
there's a bug which means your dead wife can still get pregnant
Someone around here was asking if there were undead in the game. I told him not yet, but I didn't know about this bug. [e digicons][/e]
If you haven't already, please read the "Beta Reporting Guide" post here. It describes and tells you where to find debug.err and dump files that you can supply to help the developers fix these bugs.
Left the FOW on this time but only made it to turn 80: Debug Message: - Ending Turn 80 - Debug Message: Current Memory Usage: 1475870 KB Debug Message: Cities in World: 4 Debug Message: Units in World: 69 DebugMessage: Updating ZOC. I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and haven't seen this particular crash. But then I get the "Out of Memory" crash every 30 to 40 turns.
Out of curiosity, did the Skath actually attack you?
Can't speak for the original poster, but yes, a coastal skath attacked my sovereign. Quick trip back to my town.
The world isn't completely free of powerful monsters. Rather, the world is free of powerful monsters right outside your starting base.
Well, that was true, but I had to travel a third of the way across the map to find a tile of fertile land, and that put me close to some spiders and trolls.
Reloaded the auto save from the crash on turn 35 and hit the same out of memory on turn 50.
Out of memory on turn 35 on .803 Beta2A. dxdiag is here. debug.err is here. dump is here.
And then on the next turn, I traveled to the witch's hut, found out I had to travel to her sister's hut, and on the next turn the old hut disappeared, leaving the revived land, and the new witch's hut appeared elsewhere, similarly creating revived land and showing it as my area of influence.
Yes, I researched "Harvesting", which I don't recall seeing in previous betas, and it supposedly unlocked gardens, but gardens were already available to be built.
I saw the same thing as the OP. Here's a screenshot:
Public links are available for free dropbox accounts, but the option isn't available until the upload is finished. Check to make sure the upload is sync'd (it'll have a green checkmark in the lower left corner of the icon).
That's correct. I'm using a free account also.
I've been able to crash the game due to this problem in slightly over 25 moves. Perhaps that's explained by the fact that I do a lot of zooming in and out with the mouse wheel. I'm also on Win 7 64 bit.
Don't have a screenshot but I saw the same thing.
Yes, I reported the same thing in this thread.
Please post dxdiag files
The link to my dxdiag and a dump file are in my first couple of replies to this thread.
In a 1v1AI multiplayer game, I moved my sovereign out of my town. On the cloth map she is where she should be, where I clicked: But if I zoom in to see the real map, she appears 1 tile to the south east:
Taking him to my nearest city didn't end the quest, so I then took him to the first city I had founded, and that successfully ended the quest.
The 3GB limit is for 32 bit architecture. You can surpass this by using a 64 bit system/OS.
Which is what I have, so what's going on?
A lot of us seem to be hitting this problem, I think it's been reported in at least 3 other threads.
This was reported long long ago in Beta 1. Of course a number of other Beta 1 problems seem to have made it through to Beta 2 [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e]
Good suggestion.
