Would prefer that newly trained units would stay in their home city, rather than what happens currently in .85.
There's a gameplay option to allow you to do that. Check "Auto station new units".
Auto-select next unit is so annoying. It often jumps attention to another unit right as the unit I was moving finds something important. Makes the experience really jarring.
Agreed. You move your army to attack, and before the tactical battle screen comes up, the focus is shifted to some other unit on the strategic map even if your army has move points left. After the battle you're looking at some pioneer unit wh
Looks like the same problem I posted about in .77 when I had fire elementals spawning in the ocean.
I'm wondering if this is worse in .85 than it was in .77. Several times I've tried to move a single unit (pioneers, spearmen, etc) from one side of an undefended town to the other. In .77 they would go through the town, in .85 they go around, which is very annoying when they have to go through forests or even worse, cross a river.
The monster AI clearly needs some direction on when and when not to use spells.
Agreed - I attacked an unrecruited Empire champion, and he spent his first 3 turns casting buff spells on himself while I moved up my melee units and killed him. Even when he had a chance to attack my spearmen, he just cast another buff spell.
The "Way of the xxx" are still there, but in 0.85 they become available at level 4 instead of level 2.
This thread: https://forums.elementalgame.com/418123 reports that all bows do zero damage when autoresolve is used.
I reported the missing tech level in the message in this thread. Derek said he's fixed it in the next build, but from my game as well as your observations, it seems the tech levels required to hire champions at various levels have changed in 0.85.
The name of the tech that is required to recruit this champion is missing:
Actually, on second thought, it might be kind of cool if the flame elementals spawned in the water were to disappear in a cloud of steam.
Nice meandering river in the back.
True, but the land is almost all swamp. It was one of the quests where you clean out various packs of monsters, with the promise that the land will be valuable when you finish. In some cases it has been, but this one, phui (as Nero Wolfe would say). The best buildable tile was 3/3 with one plains tile next to it, surrounded by swamp that can't be built upon or cleared.
After doing a quest (sorry, I can't remember the name, I think the hut was labeled Ancient Dungeon) which involved defeating a bunch of fire elementals, a number of fire elementals and ignys spawned on the map, several of which were in the ocean or on inaccessible tiles:
Another issue I have is how mountains sometimes make clicking on a square I want to go to impossible unless I do it on the cloth map.
Yes, it can be very annoying to click next to a mountain and have your army move in an entirely opposite direction.
What release of Windows are you running on? I've had several crashes, but no OoM crashes, unlike my experiences on EWoM, where they were very common. I'm on Windows 7 64 bit.
I've seen maul work, typically only allowing 2 hits, but sometimes yielding up to 5 hits. My current army has one unit with a sword that has maul, and one that has an axe with maul. It's fun watching them chew up an enemy. Unfortunately my laptop died yesterday (I think it's the video card), and I'm having to borrow my wife's laptop to see these forums. I'm on a trip and won't be home for another week and a half, so it looks like I'm o

There are not nearly enough benefits.
I would agree with your analysis. I'm happy to hire a hero with this trait, but I have not seen enough benefit to spend a level up on it.
Properly implemented it can keep me coming back to a game over & over to see if I can beat my all-time best.
Yes, good point.
I've seen the same problem in 2 of my games.
I've seen scores as high as 60, from conquest and alliance victories. Maybe the spell of making always gets a score of zero? The scores I had were never posted to the high scores list, so it does seem like this part of the game isn't finished.
I've seen it too. Not sure if it's a bug or a feature (maybe a feechur?) but it does seem wrong that Empire can use Kingdom troops and vice-versa.
I hit this crash on turn 21, medium map, autosave every turn. The crash occurred a few second after I hit the end turn button. zip file is here. debug.err is here.
If the champion casting mass curse is Csilla, this has been reported before, and one of the developers said it was on their list to fix. The problem seems to be unique to that champion, and happens wherever you attack him (or he attacks you).
EXCEPT that if I load a game within the game it acts like you describe.
Ah, so that's what was causing it. Thanks.
I like this idea. The case where the tactical map comes up with all enemies off the screen happens too often.
