No beta. No demo. No steam forum. No previews of the game. No recent gameplay trailers. A lack of anything resembling good press about the gameplay prior to release. New dev team + franchise advertising to be able to 'take down' stable game with multiple released expansions (Sins). Last minute push-back of release date indicative of a rushed development team begging a publisher for more time. As an experienced 4x gamer who has been met with a lot of disappointm
When is Beta 4 coming out, this Thursday soon, or soon like a month or two soon? [e digicons]|-)[/e]
I've been following this game for a while and am interested in it. However they have shown very little (their very few videos show much the same footage) and the concept of advertising (at least over in the states) seems unknown to them. With no signs of a Beta happening I am almost certain this is going to end up like another SoTS2 or Elemental, an unfinished game with 'lots of potential'. I am hoping for the best but I will definitely not be tricked into another day 1 purchase.
None of these ads offer me money or free iPads...where is my incentive [e digicons];P[/e]

There are some fears that I have should the Steam service ever be discontinued (I have about 100 games purchased since 2004) but it is a great service and gives me access to great games at competitive prices. Sins of a Solar empire was the game that got me to install Impulse, and despite the transfer to Gamestop, so far they have run the service adequately.
According to a recent dev blog Jon is working on the latest GalCiv. So far the only confirmed info is that the sequel will be in the new revolutionary massively multiplayer online first person turn based roleplaying shooter strategy genre. It will use a combination of Games for Windows Live, Origin, and Steamworks along with the usual TAGES drm to keep your purchase secure.
Can anyone think of any free 2 play games that aren't really pay 2 win or freemium games?
All we need is a little experimentation. Lose a limb, doctor/mage gets to add a new one.

I offer this opinion based upon my testing of the beta's of the mess and the overwhelming set of opinions in various locations in the web as a comput
I think it would be a bit unfair to those users who aren't using 64-bit and likely lead to a lot of confusion down the road where people buy dlc to a 32-bit game that they can't play. Personally I am using Win7 64-bit and I recommend MS users using an older version to upgrade as soon as reasonably possible if they enjoy gaming, especially if you are using something ancient like Vista or 9x versions (I'll let XP pass for now :P). I'd love multiplayer but currently the game doesn't stay sync'd (item/stat duplication etc) for single player saves so I'm not sure how it could survive multiplayer ones. I mean who could play an epic strategy game in a single sitting thats quite the task and time commitment! I don't really expect games that have multiplayer tacked on later to have multiplayer worth playing personally and have yet to be proven wrong. The tactical battle parts alone s

[quote who="mastroego" reply="32" id="3145633"] Technologies in one branch don't require technologies in another branch. Awww, ok Thanx for the info. I don't know why they keep designing tech trees this way. It's not like you can develop a high tech auto-homing missile without researching electronics and miniaturization first: knowledge is not sectorial in reality. Seems like meaningful tech trees can only be found in Civ and Alpha Centauri, still.
I think the orphaned icons are just the common bug of stuff disappearing visually but still being there. Happens a lot with structures, units, hitpoint bars, etc. The icon over the building is still there but visually the plot looks like brown dirt, if you zoom in and out a few times the building might pop back up, and sometimes its still visible if you zoom out to clothmap mode.
You login here and then go to My Downloads. https://store.stardock.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/myaccount Then if you already have the Beta downloaded you just have to download the latest patch by clicking on Beta Update. Then you run the .EXE and it will update your version.
