Hum, I agree with a lot of suggestions about diplomacy but I'll go into more detail about the AI leaders. I'd like them to have basic 'stances' like in Civ (ie expansionist, peaceful, mercantilist, etc) that are readily viewable by players. However, one or two extra hidden stances should be added to each AI leader to spice things up (and those would be randomized so you wouldn't quite know what to expect from a given leader in different games). So le

Plus if I remember correctly they're rethinking the whole magic system so I'd expect this to change in the next few weeks. (if not the next patch)
I agree, the AI is unbalanced and too simplistic. You start a game...20 minutes into it the opposition has (1)more resources (2)tougher armies (3)more land...I mean come on..unbalanced is an understatement.I had hoped by now (2010) they would have some wonderful AI in games like these. I mean..after all..they don't have to spend money/time on 3D/spatial/first person development I'm very disappointed. Gal Civ was better balanced and more fun. I've played about
Keep looking forward and work your heineys off like you always do and it'll be fine by me. Mistakes happen, only fools can't change their minds. Beta testers have seen just how much change we can expect in a short time so I'm not worried we'll see all the improvement we need fast enough for reasonable people. That being said, get back to work! [e digicons]B)[/e]
Certainly feels like those spells are too strong. Damage a town badly? Sure. Destroy it in one go? Nuh-uh.
Personally I think sovereigns would be fine if they only gained a nice amount of hit points and defense every level. Maybe 10 HPs and 3 DEF per level, seems it would scale rather well with other units.
1. To get married, you need to get a champion of the opposite sex to join you (of course). Click on them then click on the Actions tabs. You'll see a golden ring among the icons: that's the marriage one. They may refuse to marry you if it's the very beginning of the game as you need to have a reputation of 1 (kill beasties to raise it) 2. You need to research the Adventure tech tree. Adventure tech tree is divided in three parts which increase your notable leve
Er correct me if I'm wrong but can't you already do that if you research the warfare tech tree enough? One soldier is the starting size, then you can build 4-men squads, then 8? And final size is something like 16? (haven't bothered building those yet). After all, training soldiers draws upon your population so it makes a lot of sense to have single units at first and then having them grow as you learn better ways to train. It may just be me though, who knows? <
Quoting kyogre12, reply 1RavenX, I'm not really sure if you are "officially" making your mod or not. I saw a post of yours when I was searching for mods saying that you want to create a Dragonlance mod, and you had some ideas down, but it was also a thread about modding in general. So if you want me to take yours down, let me know. When the time comes I'm going to "attempt" one yes. Depending on how many Dragonlance fans we have aro
Modding is a way for fans to participate to the game's development, not a way to make a quick buck. That's why modders are called fans and not employees.
Well I don't mind having intelligence vs defense to see if a spell hits. However as was pointed out, that would make fully armored units impossible to hit. Therefore I propose using The caster's intelligence times his level (so a lvl 7 caster with 15 intelligence would have a 105 hit chance vs whatever the target's defense is.
Keep up the good work guys. Hopefully you'll track down all the little graphical glitches in the next few patches. Seeing one of my sovereign's sons with his brother's wife's portrait is rather strange. [e digicons]:omg:[/e]
I very regularly get that graphical glitch. Nothing major, but it certainly scared me the first time I saw it. "Wha? Capitar took over my town and I didn't even get a message?" Looking forward to a fix for this, it's distracting.
Similar issue while I'm the one casting confusion. First confusion, attack goes into the negative. Second cast put it back into positive AND doubled the number. Third cast doubled that number... Needless to say I was squished like a snotling. Example: Enemy has 40 or so attack (sadly I don't recall the enemy nor its exact attack rating). First confusion gives it -71 attack. Second confusion
18. When casting overland spells with a champion, their mana does not go down (graphically) as they use up their magic. For example, a champion could cast raise land a couple of times and still show 13/13 mana. Mana still goes down behind the scenes though so it's only a confusing graphical glitch. 19. I still get a graphical glitch where one or more of my cities simply changes name and color to match one of the other factions. It does not affect gamep
Most people who don't overreact at the drop of a hat understand what you're going through Frogboy and don't hold what you posted against you. That having been said, go get some sleep! A tired dev isn't an effective one. [e digicons]:D[/e]
Well no spy units for the time being but you can explore their territory if you sign a non-aggression pact with them. It's certainly not perfect but it does the job since those pacts have a duration.
Rilis is one of the few champions who has nice stats. Not a bug as far as I know. As for the faction you encountered, that's an independent NPC faction. It won't grow nor can you deal in a 'civilized manner' with them. Burn them to the ground or conquer them... Unless you think they serve as a good buffer between your kingdom and the enemy.
You'll meet plenty of new monsters if you research Adventure *hint hint* [e digicons][/e] As for different races and all that jazz, keep your eyes open for player mods. People will take care of creating new races and new art for the most part. That's why Elemental's modding tools are so powerful; to let us participate in our own way and make our own version of the game.
Enjoying it as well. Only complaint is the memory leak I'm experiencing but I take it in stride as I know Stardock will do its darnest to correct those issues ASAP. I think people in general are less patient than they were lets say 15 years ago which makes a developer's job far more difficult than it already is. More video tutorials will certainly help quell some of the current complaints. Having been in the beta, I've seen just how hard these people wo
You can change your view by holding down the mouse wheel and moving your mouse around. Found it after I had to deal with the same problem as you.
Just watched Zombieland and playing on my DS. Hopefully Elemental will be downloadable before I finish the game....
The wait's driving me crazy. Heck I even started listening to Lady Gaga and enjoying it, a clear sign of insanity. I'll see you in court Stardock! [e digicons];P[/e]
I'm looking forward to waking up in front of my computer a few days from now after an Elemental marathon, wondering where in the bloody blazes I am... That and creating my custom race.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 4 Quoting Batlord, reply 2 What about AI ? I don't think anyone considers AI to be an important factor. The beta community has has been pretty clear that they don't think the AI needs to be even in the game... What do you mean? You're ditching the single-player part of the game?!
