Oh, and while I'm at it, here's another anecdote. I attended a LAN where 14 people played a pirated copy of the game. From that LAN 5 people have now bought the game, I asked all of them and they said that if they hadn't played it, they wouldn't have bought it (most of them probably wouldn't have even knew it existed) That is a clear cut case where piracy has helped the developers
Chaosnaska, are you a developer / publisher / content creator? What do you do for a living? What gives you insight into the extent to which piracy does / does not damage the revenues of people who make games? Trying to find and sue potential customers is something the RIAA does, I don't think stardock is particularly keen on that sort of an image. I'd also question your willingness to take BAT MAN as a good indication of how c
If the "charge fortifications" goal was removed (or if it's a kill enemy goal that doesn't count fortifications as off limits) and a "Support Allied HUMAN Demigods" goal was added that would instantly tripple the effectiveness of AI players in multiplayer games (while still not making them particularly desirable)
Yeah, getting an AI for demigod to work properly shouldn't be that hard... Am I in a position to back up a HUMAN player? DO THAT Is there a creep wave without a DG near it? GO FARM CREEPS Are there more enemy human DG's near by than Friendly human DG's? RUN AWAY! Is there nothing better to do? CAP FLAGS Using roughly that decision making process AI's would work a lot better in multi player games. Try
Yeah, I can't stand it when people use internet speak on the internet... It's so innapropriate...

Post a replay. Without a replay no-one is ever going to believe you were carrying your team and so any advice you get is going to be lost amid scepticism. If you want to take a step back there's a few cases where the behaviour you saw is warranted. Not necessarily in the situation you were in, but you should be wary of making blanked statements "always do X" Firstly, if oak was low on life and / or mana then he probably didn't want to rush into two d
It confuses me to no end when players die to assassins.
One of my more common ways of dying to regulus or UB is that they charge in with a double wave of creeps and I just don't notice them (this happens most frequently when I'm trying to battle oak or rook). I believe regulus can get some easy kills using lucky mines and a snipe, but this happens to me a lot less now that I'm usually surrounded by a cloud of pets I
Seriously, post a replay, it's going to get you the most quality advice. Secondly, have you conisdered consumables? I believe there's one that would remove UB's DoT (I could be wrong though) I'm probably not playing at anywhere near your level of competition, but usually I find that 1v1 I can force an UB to retreat as Erebus, and although he assumes his spit will finish me off I can typically get the health back by biting full strength creeps. Also consider havin
I am posting from demigod, sorry It didn't occur to me that this would be a shared forum... Ok it appears to work now, but I'm using my home pc, I'll try once more from work and see how it goes there. Just for the record I did try it about 5 times throughout yesterday, so there was definitely a period where it wasn't working for me, not just a one off.
Even on searches for things like "erebus" or "stardock" I'm getting no results... I'm using chrome but I wouldn't have expected this to be a client side problem, I get the search results page... there's just no search results. I can upload a screen shot if you want to provide a somewhere to upload it
I'm slightly confused by this... Skill tree wise you're always going to have bite maxed out, pets or no. After that there's mist, stun and bat swarm that all seem useful for assasin players, except that I don't think you'd really use mist for assasin players, and stun doesn't really seem to do a lot of damage. Usually I max out bite, pet count, bat swarm, regen, and conversion rate in that order of preference and seem to do fairly well as a general assasin.
Obviously it's going to be hard, but here's a few things that I've noticed helping me when that happens. 1 - Engage creep waves closer to your towers and further away from the enemy DG's (usually this can be achieved by not following your own wave to the front line and letting them die further out) 2 - Be as mobile as you can (go all out on move speed upgrades) and try to hold down as many flags as you can, this either forces the enemy to split up, or starts upg
I was about to post a question on just this topic. How useful are people finding the non-unit upgrades at the citadel? I typically try to upgrade creep armor and ignore damage upgrades figuring the longer my creeps are lasting the less exp and gold my opponents are getting. What do the other upgrades do and what is the point of getting them? Typically I don't think I'd be upgrading creep damage much at all because I don't really want my creeps to b
I think it's more than just port forwarding... My first experience with demigod was on a LAN and we were trying to get 5v5 games going and had crazy problems. Most good internet apps now days can negotiate NAT without a problem. Hamachi has been doing it for ages
It's still possible to come back from a couple of early game DG kills, but if they get 4 kills before you've hit level 4 then you're going to have a pretty hard time of it... I haven't had any luck getting skirmish or pantheon games to work, but so far all my custom games have worked out pretty well. You get to have a pretty good look at what you're up against before you play in custom
Aussie Aussie Aussie!
OI OI OI! What do you count as peak hour? I've been struggling to get on since I bought it (only 4 internet games under my belt so far) but I'd consider 8:30-9:30 GMT+9 peak hour for most of the country on week nights, no idea what people get up to on the weekends, as I usually play weekend mornings and there's hardly ever aussies on then
Instead of battling the troll, lets think about how you WOULD make DG work on a console? Ok, easy stuff for starters, bind one of the analog sticks to DG movement, bind 8 buttons to ability slots. If an ability needs targetting, perhaps have a targetting circle that you can cycle between targets with left and right triggers? Oh wait, there's typically going to be a lot of guys on the screen and cycling through all of them would be painful, so lets only cycle thr
While I don't feel any of us are entitled to reparations I think the olive anecdote doesn't quite cover the pain of connection issues... It's more like you got your pizza in a steel box that wouldn't open, or would open some times to give you a bite sized morsel of food, and sometimes it'll open enough to get a bit of food out but then suck the food back in.
I have to respectfully disagree with your statement that the simple control mechanism of an x-box controller is well suited to demigod... How would it handle teleporting? How would you handle quick pans around the map to investigate the different areas of the map? I'm sure x-box would have done some things better, and if there is indeed pre-built network code in it then sure, the connection issues probably wouldn't be so bad, however it would be a vastly d
Oh, and I've heard people say consumables make a big difference, but so far I haven't been feeling like I am missing them... I'm a fairly conservative (defensive) player and tend to play on small (4 or 6 player) maps so teleport is less necessary
You should probably say who you play when stating what you buy as I think that'll have an impact. Personally I play Erebus and my first buy is always the vlemish face guard, I charge the frontlines naked and get face when I have cash for it. After that I'll be aiming for boots of speed, then either the mana draining gauntlets or the crusader plate (depending on how long it is before I need to return to base). Once I've got one of those I aim for e
All demigods give their team a winning edge, if you're looking for someone who is most likely going to be easiest for you to keep alive as a new player I'd probably say try out Oak with his shield ability. As everyone else has said though, all DG's can be super survivable if you play cautiously, just don't chase the enemy demigods, and if you can do it, try to stick close to someone else on your team
Because Erebus has relatively low health, it can be pretty tempting for people to chase after him, particularly new players who haven't gotten a handle on his abilities. If you notice someone chases you a lot, try to get them chasing you while you have your minions wail on them for a while, then bite them. If you're lucky they'll be miles away from safety, have a large chunk off their health, and be surrounded by your minions who are now ALL doing extra damage. Be
