ping = time for a packet to go from your computer, to the target computer then back to yours. With the proxy, then it's from your computer in europe, to the proxy in the states, to your mates computer in europe, then back to the proxy in the states, then back to your computer in europe. So it's adding the ocean cable 4 times, which is why you see such a high ping. I hosted a game with proxied players in Australia the other day and while I di

I believe the IRC command for mute is /ignore not sure if it works in the demigod client though Stardock should also read up on and consider bots to police the chanel for foul language, flooding and other easily detectable badness. Real human mods are of course always better, but bots can take a lot of stuff off their shoulders
I played a game the other night against australians, some of whom were on proxies. In the lobby they had pretty high pings, however in game their ping dropped back to a pretty reasonable level. We certainly didn't notice any substantial network lag until about 10 minutes in when one of the players on the winning team was disconnected. Then we were again fine in terms of playability until 5 minutes later when one of us on the losing team disconnected. &nbs

Has anyone actually spoken to Warskull since the ban? Does anyone actually know if he _wants_ to come back? A lot of other forums I see have pretty clear banhammer systems where there's a reply / new thread from a mod stating that the ban is in place along with the reason for banning. I didn't see that for Chaosnaksa, and while I'm glad he's gone I guess people would feel better about it if he didn't just dissapear in the night. Lets face it, if whatsis face didn't
I haven't really complained a lot about the connectivity problems, nor have I bought a stardock game before this one, I tend to agree with nilsy on this one. Yes it's great that Stardock are trying hard to fix the problems here, but there shouldn't have been any problems in the first place, so I reckon a lot of people are right to complain

I'd rather that people accept them, but if you simply won't, my argument for you is that banlists and flaming are not constructive ways to respond to them and just do additional harm to the community.[/quote] If we can't refuse to play with them then how can we respond to them at all?
good post, hope some of that makes it to GPG
The Company of Heroes community is quite opposed to people pulling the plug (drop hacking). Additionally it is primarily played as a 1v1 game at the competitive level. Vesuvius, what you're not getting is that there's an implicit agreement when starting a demigod game, that everyone will stick around for the game. You might disagree with that point, but certainly Vengeance, Viper and I (others as well) have all tried to express that it's important
Terry I hear what you're saying, and I do agree that with the current crap net code publishing people's disconnection statistics would probably mean some people have a hard time playing the game through no fault of their own, which would suck and be bad, I agree. At the same time though, if it's happening to everyone about the same amount, then people are going to be used to seeing a high disconnect rate, and the rage quitters will still have a higher drop rate. On the other h
There's no way to tell. Most people realise that network connections aren't 100% reliable, and they're even more accepting with the current state of DG's net code. A typical rage quitter will have a VASTLY higher disconnect rate than someone who just gets the occassional disconnection

I'd put this at the end but I'm guessing it wouldn't be read by those it applies to. If you're too impatient to read a long paragraph, please gtfo. Obvious solution: 1 - Stardock implement concede function: in progress 2 - Stardock implement personal ban lists and use when matching for skirmish / pantheon : in progress 3 - Stardock implement game win/lose/disconnect stats per player, make available and configurable criteria for pantheon/skirmish games : not in progress If they gave us the tools we'd be able to manage this ourselves fairly easily.
