There already was a thread about tatical combat, but here again my thoughts on ranged weapons: just look at the real world: General - far away targets have to be much harder to hit - you should have some kind of physics, so that you can't directly aim on a target that's behind some other unit/building - with bows you may aim indirectly (the arrow has a flight path where it's first high and then while loosing speed goes down) Bows - combat speed for bo
20. The biggest problems with tactical combat are: a. Damage is too high relative to health. This makes ranged units too powerful, and "alpha strikes" way too strong. b. Squads are too powerful relative to individuals. A squad of three 5/2 guys should function like three 5/2 guys, not a single 15/6 guy. They should lose squad members (degrading power) when they take damage (though these can heal back
So, here are some other bullets: 8) make sovereign starting equipment like any other equipment: one should be abe to sell, swap an drop it 9) Make random spawning units (the ones you get for city leveling) dependent to one's alignment. Trolls, spiders and highway men are okay for empire factions but the good ones should get other "good" units 10) I had some battles with many units on each side (like 6-7) and the battle-button w
Don't agree on the shop UI. We like it. Not changing.
I would like to see my equipment detail screen from within the shop. Alternatvely it would be necessary for the starting equipment to be real equipment, because it hppens all the time in the beginning that I go into the shop and don't know what my main weapon is. I then have to leave the shop, go into my detail, memeorize my starting-equipment, go b

Play for an hour and no crash, that's good. But here a some things (old and new) that need attending: 1) it looks so as if every custom sovereign has every spellbook: broken or has something changed conceptuality? 2) I can build mines without the technology mining 3) the MOST annoying thing: I'm still not able to build from the cloth map, because after my click to place the building there is a short delay, then the map moves an
Perhaps at end of turn? Sorry, no dump, only debug.err http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6141154/30072010_debug.err
Jep. But still: good idea!
Yes, finally someone else! I say so for ages: https://forums.elementalgame.com/384839
Who mentioned auto-upgrade? Surely it should be something you decide on and I would do it as easy as queuing the upgrades into the normal train queue.
I haven't found how to do that, so I think it isn't in. I want to upgrade say my peasants to my new designed footsoldiers (take away the club, give them a spear an a leather armor). I think this would cost the difference between the designs in gold and the full material or something and take half the time to train a new unit. Then it would be fun to group single units to teams and so on after discovering the needed tech.
In my case I escaped from the battle (walking to the white tiles at the end of my half), got the armor (:-)) and then ctd. Here's the dump: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6141154/Elemental0_92-2010-07-24T12-36-08-855.zip
Yes, I was surprised to see them be the same. Maybe horses are a little faster and wargs are a little better in combat. Doesn't have to be anything drastic. Also it would be nice to see some variation in mount choices for factions or empires. Still need more faction differences.
Yes. There could be attributes in the faction's designer, something like: - horse man (may use h
Sorry, for not posting a screenshot (was there a special elemental key for that anyway?), but in my opinion the hud becomes too big when zooming out. Resolution is 1650*1050 and in the level one before the sloth map the hud is way too big:It partly covers units that stand next to the city.
I just noticed that the HUD disappears after alt-tab-ing: The icon is still set to show, but there's no hud. I don't have the time to reproduce this now, I will later.
But I don't know what was the cause. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6141154/Elemental0_90-2010-07-18T20-49-14-513.zip
Same with me (actually I lost and had to start over but still...). This was a problem before, perhaps they didn't fix it yet. Here's the dump: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6141154/Elemental0_92-2010-07-20T06-44-58-442.zip
Okay, you're right: I did build it again and it gave +50, so the bug is the wrong number on the card. The last time I thought it gave me +100 but perhaps I just built it two times.
That's too abstract for me. I would prefer different ressources/herdes of "real" animals.
Move and attack speed need to be split up in some way. Under the existing system, an armorless archer can quite easily kite a guy in plate around and never get touched as long as he has 3 action points (the plate guy won't be over 2 and thus can't both move and attack in the same turn). I understand that plate slows you down, but that's kind of silly. Also, why does being on a horse give someone multiple extra attacks? If you make a hors
Something more I'd like: Visibility: - if the terrain of the battle field and the training of the unit/the leader yields it, the defending units shouldn't be seen by the attacker when entering the battle field. Only if they move to the open or use magic/ranged attack they will be seen Terrain: - the bonuses/maluses terrain gives to units could be based on the unit type like mounted units get a malus in the woods and a bonus in the open
I don't really see Magnar escorting some nobleman - I see Magnar capturing someone for money! So, I'd prefer some attribute that controls if a quest is shown to a player/faction based on his alignment.
Yes, I noticed that, too. I would prefer fewer but perhaps more "powerful" quests. So that the location to go to is farer away but you receive more gold and the number of quests is halfed.
Good idea. Also, I don't have a clue what money a caravan brings. Can I see this anywhere? You could add it to the view he described.
