also I really recommend a few of you guys download Battle for Wesnoth and give it a look. In particular: Different damage types and how they affect different armor types How terrain is handled (flat % chance to hit) 2 random "traits" each unit is spawned with randomly and how it changes things Promotion system (is super epic and gives the feeling of POWER UP) Zone-of-Control system How damage % is calculated (in a nice little sp

Yep. Half the reason Minor Factions exist is to have dynasties with them (and take their 1000 Gilder with your excess Materials)
Hrm. It was not my intention to steal an idea. Someone requested this mod from me in IRC. Also, this adds Stables and Kennels.
pft that's one line of XML difference :P
You can mod it in yourself. I'm on my notebook atm so I don't have the XML for it, but if you'd like I can load it onto box.net and post a link in a few days.
You can mod the stack limit already. It's in ElementalDefs.xml. Same with the number of units in a group, etc. The problems with increasing the stack limit is that units over the stack limit randomly get deployed on the battlefield (bad). The problem with increasing squad sizes is because of weird graphical glitches.
agreed. +1
howabout using their IRL channel...?
Also, along those lines, whatever Soverign upgrade that gives reduced Pioneer cost could make the food cost only .5 instead of 1. Makes it a little bit more attractive.
Brainsucker: That would work, it would certainly make fertile land even MORE valuable, which isn't too bad of a thing since you get one to start with. However, there is still the "food caravan " problem, and there is also one more. What if your pioneer is killed enroute to building a city? You lose that 1 food "forever"? That's sort of silly since the food spoils. I think the alternative way to look at it is it COSTS 1 food to establish a new city with a Pioneer (but not your Sov). Ba
Incest in Royal is a common concern. Look at all the inbreeding in European royalty over the years. What bugs me is that the AI doesn't marry off it's kids that are unwed. You should be able to marry off your spawn to your heros to start minor houses/factions and the like.
Interesting idea +1 for creating "vassals" or "colonies" using your children + champions. Would like to see.
Gnilbert: To fix the Win7 permissions issue, you can take ownership over it. Right Click > Properties > Security Find yourself and give yourself full control over it
The issue is not that you cannot break a truce. Simply that it is too long. 99 turns is far too long. 20-30 would be fine.
New mount bonuses, can use same graphics but with different colors: Red horse/warg: +1 fire damage to unit's attack Blue horse/warg: +1 water damage to unit's attack Orange horse/warg: +1 air damage to unit's attack Green horse/warg: +1 earth damage to unit's attack
Already in Gnilbert's mod (:
This happens in other games too, like Civ. Elemental just needs a "Please Wait" indicator to make it more clear your opponents are moving.
I'll attempt to run it in Wine in a few days and post the results here. I was able to run Demigod on Linux and that was buggy as hell, so...
Make it yourself Program Files\Stardock Games\Elemental\Mods If you are Win7, you should take Ownership over it (Right-click, Properties, Owners, find yourself and give yourself full read-write permission, it will make editing and copying files easier).
elemtental.str go at it (: It's well documented.
To repro, put a very, very overpowered item into the Shop, at a very cheap price. You'll see that the AI sovereigns never purchase it :/
I don't see the problem with Death Wargs. 25 gold is a lot, and it doesn't do very good damage. I could see it useful for rushing, but since when the AI ever rush? I play Yithril, who is uneducated, and I'm still running around with squads with 15 HP, ~50 attack by turn 50. :/ I actually buffed the Death Wargs on my local version (I tweaked a few things here and there). However, the "Hellbeast" is really really underpowered. One thing I would really apprec
that would be known as a prerequisite... it's already built into the game.
pft tech trading is terrible. Fuck tech trading. The only tech "trading" should work like Fall from Heaven. Basically, as a certain % of the world discovered particular technologies they "trickled down" to the rest of the world, reducing the price. Having Open Borders, or being adjacent to more advanced opponents accelerated the price reduction. However, it never dropped below 50%, so you still had to invest in research.
Quoting MT Silver, reply 1A hotkey to allow all units with orders to move when pressed would solve this one quite nicely. That's a great suggestion!
For the love of god, this please.
Bug report: Make an AI artificially extremely powerful (give them a broken Sovereign with over 100 attack). When they meet you, they'll typically threaten you with tribute. Agree to "pay" it. Notice that you do not deduct any gilder at all. --- Also, they don't summon stone golems either. --- I also don't think that the AI get city-level up bonuses :/
