There was a pretty cool made-for-TV movie series called Merlin a while back thats worth checking out. Haven't seen the british Merlin, though.
One of the shifts that happens when you have 25-85% off sales every week is that buyers will wait until a game goes on sale before they buy. What games are you waiting to go on sale? I'm waiting for Din's Curse, so I can buy a friend a copy.
You do know that Stardock is a corporate entity, right?
I think he means publicly traded company.
Quoting Tridus, reply 23From what they've said in the past, I suspect that licensing their desktop tools to OEMs is the real core revenue stream. Impulse was a profit maker, but if you can get a substantial cash payout and focus the business on its core things, that can turn out well. Fundamentally Impulse isn't core to what Stardock does. However in teh 2010 Consumer Report it stated Impulse made more money that their othe
Smart move by Gamestop, but I get the feeling that Stardock just cut off its best performing revenue stream. Can't say I'm happy about Gamestop being the purchaser. In theory, this will let the Stardockians focus on developing their PC games and apps..we'll have to see how it plays out.
One big thing to emphasize is that you simply don't need a new computer every few years anymore. Nevermind the recession - a four year old PC is well behind the curve as far as what is on the market today, but it still does everything a general user needs it to do.
I'm pretty sure I'd still be playing SimAnt if they re-released it with an updated UI. That game was great!
I like the idea, variety in potential iterations. It would be especially cool if we could bribe the leader via gold/diplomacy to go harass another player. Of course, that gold would give them better equipment...(I wonder where that idea came from!)
My girlfriend swears by Opera, it is great if you want to manage your email and feeds all in one place. I used Opera until Chrome came out. Chrome seems to do well with everything except Stardock's forums. :P I also use Flock - essentially a Chrome mod - because I like the sidebar for my twitter feeds.
I own the game, but have only played it once or twice. With a friend it could be a lot of fun, but alone it didn't feel immersive enough. I'd love to play through with some friends, though.
I played the Demo for SpaceChem, and would really like to purchase it - but I'd rather it be from Impulse. Any chance you guys could pick up this awesome puzzle game?
Nothing I wrote makes the game easier or harder - it just makes you more efficient. :) I meant merely to start a discussion about how people can improve their enjoyment of the game by maximizing the parts they enjoy. For some that will be PvP, for some its power leveling, and for some it is trudging through on hardcore mode, holding their breath. Since Diablo 3 is approaching with its imminent release sometime this decade, I thought it would be a great time for us to share some general tips that we picked up from other Action RPGs. Here are mine: 1. Make your first character the one most item-independent. While playing a character that interests you comes first, if you are indecisive, go with the one that won't be reliant on that killer piece of equipment. A lot of times this is a caster,
Want, Yes. Use, probably no.
Dark Reign was such a fun RTS, and it had a great setting too. Most RTSes as of current emulate StarCraft, focusing on fair competitive play. Few try to make things easier - Sup Com was a rarity in this respect. I can't think of any others that have tweakable AI features like that.
Some more "Where is.." - Worms - Bejeweled (or PvZ) - Neverwinter Nights
Giving users more options than they have resources would make tactical combat more interesting. If you give a Hill Giant a smash ability with an AOE attack, that's great, but giving him that, a terrifying yell, defensive stance, moving, and normal attack makes him tactically interesting. This forces decisions each turn, instead of there being a clear-cut optimum choice. Oh, and daggers - sweet idea. :)
You know, with a little editing...
Lord Xia...makes Anne Frank seem like a whinny bitch.
And I'm with him. Coming in and trashing the company in their space instead of following up is a crazy sentiment. You would not do this with a brick and mortar store, and if you did they would ask you to leave. Further, backing up your argument with your "time spent on the forums" - that i
First - Congratulations on another year of business. :) An interesting read, as it was last year. It makes me excited to see Society and E:FE coming around, and the idea of the competition with Steamworks heating up makes me grin. It is interesting to see that Impulse has become more profitable than the Software side of things. Did profits from Object Dock (and friends) stay about the same as last year?
I've been reading through this wonderful page on the choices that Arcen Games (maker of AI War) made in regards to forced player experimentation, a shifting game balance and random map generation. While I have not tackled AI War yet, I am curious about how their general design philosophy matches up against Elemental to see what we
Quoting Alstein, reply 93It's also kinda skewed because it sounds like Brad expected most people to have bought those games (maybe it's what he bought?) The list he provided was just an example. You can use any games you'd like. Also, I think it's just for fun and maybe to see if the community is noticing any improvement in Elemental.
Yeah, I just realized that was what he meant. Oddly, though, C

I did some research, and found a custom map that emulates the old way of playing - sadly, though, you cannot play it vs. overwhelming numbers of AI, or more than two players on a team.
