my recommendation would be to talk to stardock/brad and maybe they would be cool with it on some level, they are unlike any other game company.

from wikipedia In December 2003, TGTSoft sued Stardock and Brad Wardell for declarative relief, claiming that they should be able to use the IconPackager .iptheme file format without charge. Many open source programs do read and write proprietary file formats without paying royalties—for example, OpenOffice.org reads and writes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office files. However, Stardock maintained that they should be entitled to royalties or a license fee o

I would think you would have to buy a license to the engine you would be using if you were going to profit from it.

Well personally i like being part of the process of helping and watching the game develop. I have been with elemental since before beta 1 and have been enjoying the entire time. For me Stardock games are a journey not just an end product. I think the game is really good as is but am looking forward to it becoming great as time passes. I don’t know if it is possible but the way this post talked it was supposed to help with the harder part (maybe generates the skeletons, etc) of getting the model started and then you could finish it in a true 3d model app. I was interested as I don’t know that much about 3d art and don’t really want to have to devote too much time to learning, but it would be nice to add assets into the game. May only have been a pipe dream post.

At one time I had read a post on this forum about (theoretically) using the spore creature creator to start a 3d model and then importing that into a true modeling app to finish it up. Does anyone know if this will work? Which app would I need to do this with Elemental? thanks for any help you can give

Well i for one am impressed. I don't think it feels rushed in any way. I have been in the beta since Beta1 (and have had many crash issues during certain iterations) and so far i have had no issues/crashes with this release.
