For some reason I can't seem to transfer the weapon my sovereign started with to someone else. Is this intentional?
I discovered the technology that should allow me to build a barracks, but I don't see it in the list of available buildings. ::Confused:: Also, I cannot build a Granary, even though I seem to have the required resources. Can anyone help?
Granaries seem to require a farm already built, though it does not say that. I seem unable to use them, even in cities with 12 gardens. &
Food is very hard to obtain, because I feel like gardens are a waste of space. Farms are too rare. Materials are common, but it takes SO long to build that lumber camp (12 turns). I barely seem to have enough building slots to build enough farms for my houses, and it just takes 3 markets or schools and my slots are full. Perhaps food is meant to be scarce?
Perhaps, or maybe it's just the Beta
I think the books/ scrolls are fine; I just think we need to increase the power of the level ups. 1 addional attack for defeating two monsters? Really? The towns/cities both do not look right, and are tedious. Not sure what else we need, but we need something big, and more interesting. Agree that quests are boring and need more variety. I also hate it when the unit I escort moves one square, and the destination is 20 squares away.
Speaking of the game music, are there tracks in this game that sound almost exactly like some of GalCiv 2's tracks or is it just me?
Yeah, for a moment I was like, "Am I playing GalCiv?" Was interesting. But yeah, I really want the old one back.
Is this the final centralized topic for this idea now? [e digicons]:P[/e] Regardless, let's see how far we can take this idea so that Frogboy responds.
1. You need to build too many houses early on for the city too really develop, but far less as technology progresses and you get higher capacity housing. Naturally this is just a beta so it'll change, but last night I had a city that got to level 5 (1000 people) with only 2 villas after having researched improved housing a ton of times. My other cities were overflowing with them since I had built tons of them back when all I could make was hu

Luckily elemental is set within a fantasy world - the growth rate of family members (which I think is the main reason each turn is a number of months) can be increased. 1 turn equaling 2 weeks wouldn't be bad...
Oh, meaning that people age faster than seasons? Or that a season could last 5 y
The thing I like about this kind of research is that you identify the problem (i.e. not enough food), but that doesn't mean you'll get the orchard you need for that one town. You might get bees, or better farms, or something else. So it's still random, but a little more in the area of finding a problem, instead of getting 20 techs all available. Question: going along with this, what if you research an armor tech halfway, and then switch to weapons? Does that research st
I've seen many messages that sovs were killed early on. Not sure exactly why though.
The more that I think about it, I really like Kantok's idea about choosing an area to research, and getting a random tech in that area. Kantok, want to start a thread on it, and we can start working on some ideas for refinements?
Combat does seem overly simplistic. I was hoping for something at least on Age of Empire 3's level, with ranged/melee damage, different types of armor, etc. While it IS a strategy game, and too much complexity in this area would take the focus off the overall strategic elements of the game, a little more complexity would seem only logical.
For example, under Civilization you may have the subcategories of farming, production, economics, and housing. You, as the Sovereign, decide that your people need to strengthen their ability to feed themselves. You tell your minions to go focus their research efforts on "Civilization-> Farming". They come back with one of the green, yellow, or red techs that would have been available for you to choose, but you never see the opti
My main complaint is that the game is too linear. There are few choices. I know exactly what my first town's first 6 buildings will be. And while you can specialize towns somewhat, it seems like it takes an hour or to just to have the economy to make a small army. Maybe something's up with the pacing? Because right now this game makes Sins of a Solar Empire look short. Food is very hard to obtain, because I feel like gardens are a waste of space. Farms are too rare. Mat
I fully agree with this. I absolutely loved the menu music in Beta 1Z. Even though 1Z was no fun to play, I opened up the game just to listen to the menu music. Please bring it back! [e digicons]:'([/e]
Same here. This quest was bugged in beta 1Z, and we reported it. Why is it still not fixed?
Been occurring for me, as well, particularly on bigger towns. I had 5 towns, and some of them were large. Could have need related to the memory leak?
Got one of the memory leaks Brad was talking about. The Elemental app was using 1.7GB of RAM at the time of the crash (I have 6GB), so clearly it's constrained by the app. Could not get a save game, but I had 5 level 3+ towns, so lots of objects on the map.
LOL at the devspeak. Great vid though. Keep up the good work, Stardock!
You would be correct. Good observation (haven't played as a female character yet).
Yeah, I had all of the trees turn white with 8x AA yesterday. Quickly figured out it wasn't supposed to be snow.
Agreed with this. I should be able to see all strategic parts of the map when zoomed out.
Could we get possibly a hotfix for this? [e digicons]:)[/e] Would help facilitate other testing of the beta better.
This happens to me every single time as well. Annoying, as I often switch between the internet and playing games via alt-tab.
