While I'd like to see Beta 2, I'll have to agree with Trollboy this time. [e digicons];P[/e] I've spent 2 hours on the Beta so far, and we are definitely not ready for multiplayer. Freezes and blank maps are a few of the bugs I've experienced so far.

Just got my credit card charged! (I think), or at least my receipt.
They've already said that they're using their new Impulse Reactor. http://frogboy.impulsedriven.net/article/378128/GDC_2010_-_ImpulseReactor_is_revolutionary
LOL Frogboy. [e digicons][/e]
That doesn't quite work. What if you get a higher-level city just for all the farms you want to cram into it? Transportation should be linked to a combo of level, population, and # of farms.
This week was my spring break, So I would have been free. But I'll still be able to test it during my first week of spring quarter, as the work is always light the first week. Thanks Frogboy! [e digicons][/e]
Indeed. A more successful 1Z is what is needed, right? And what better way than to get a good test of 1Z than with a larger pool of testers?
Brad, it's good to hear you're doing the AI. I know how much you feel AI in games is important. Couple of questions though. Will the AI assumably still be a fair opponent after, say, a year of play? Also, as various multiplayer strategies develop, will the AI be updated to both implement and counter these? I'm a singleplayer/LAN (co-op vs AI) user, but i still find myself reading into some multiplayer strategies online, unfortunately. [e digicons];)[/e]
i would love to be able to beta-test 1Z. I bought the limited edition 3 weeks ago and cant wait for this game. Should I PM Frogboy to beg? [e digicons];P[/e]
Will us new preorders get access to 1Z? Or will we have to wait three whole more weeks? [e digicons]:([/e]
Food SHOULD be global, but like Tasunke was saying, its value should decrease the further away the destination is from the source. If you capture one city in enemy territory, that is completely surrounded by enemies, it should not be recieving receive full food from your farming megacity on the other side of the map.
This has happened for me too.
I just don't like how the forums' "quote" doesn't work on Safari (on my Mac), and how quick reply doesn't work in my iPod touch.
Crowns or Sovereigns fits right into the "kingdom" theme of the game, and still helps keep the currency more generic. If you want a more specific name, Ducats or Florins or Guilders fits right into the time period. Gold is boring, but works OK. Rigma is really weird to me though. And it's gonna be either a love it or hate it for most people.
Medieval times mod (without magic).
Frogboy, is there some way we could "zone" housing like in Sim City then (perhaps a different approach, but keeping with the idea of more hands-off)? Because microing housing is the last thing I want to have to do with a large kingdom. Global food really does sound like the best choice. You can always complicate it a little, by making more isolated farming villages contribute less to the global food supply, due to transportation difficulties.
I really think Gold is fine. Or else something like Ducats, or the like. And if Gildar, why not just Guilders? Don't like Rigma at all, though.
I definitely like the idea of hostile factors possibly hurting your city based on location. If you build a fledging city near the hideout of powerful bandits, they should actually capture your city and loot it, unless you manage to defend it. Likewise with dungeons and other adverse conditions. I'm not sure how apparent these should be made to the player, though. Perhaps some scouting should be required?
As far as housing , there should be an inner city wall, and (as a city get bigger) an outer city wall. Further houses (for even larger cities) should be built outside the outer city wall, and will of course be relatively unprotected. At least some of the outside population should retreat to the walls of the city in case of danger. Housing should be almost completely automatic, IMO, except for special mansions (extra money) and h
YEEESSSS!!! I assume the game will decided which version to install?
Singleplayer and LAN.
This game is just SO COOL. I can't wait. I'm not in the Beta yet, though I hope to get into Beta 2. But Beta 3 is gonna be something else, with the graphics and all.
Champion for sure.
Yeah, do I still have a chance at getting in? I pre-ordered the limited edition yesterday.
I know I'll get this game when it's released. I'm just trying to decide if I want the limited edition or not, and how long I should wait to get it. I want it when it's fun. So maybe after the graphics beta?
