You should introduce a template system, I mean user can save settings with a name (e.g. "Medium islands" or "Large continents"). And a question: how about rivers? Otherwise: your work is very appreciated, congratulation.
Yeah it's probably pretty annoying to have to repeat your settings every time. I'll see if I can get around to that. I'm no
One suggestion. The land in the official maps is already painted (desert/winter/grassland/swamp/evil/and so on) Would it be possible to include such areas in the program? Right now, it's basically just a huge world that is barren, and it only comes alive with different types of terrain when the civs start expanding. It looks a bit bland in the beginning! They do heal very fast in cities, but it is very goofy that leveling up can cripple them so, even if it's temporary. If you're far from town you pretty much have to send them all the way home or else risk losing them in an easy battle.

Whether you are interested in MP or not, it is simply the best way to really analyze the game rules. Most games actually start with multiplayer before the AI is even considered. That way you can see if your rules are holding up and have the potential for competitive fun. I know alot of you don't appreciate being beta testors, but MP is the way to fix the single player game most quickly and thoroughly.

Na, mulitplayer is the most efficient way to see what needs to be fixed. You can half-way fake a single player experience, but multiplayer exposes all. If they delayed multiplayer, they might be faced with having to fix the game twice, which could be kinda demoralizing for them. You can't hope to make a proper AI when the game rules are in flux.
Can you give me one of the maps you've created with resources randomly generated but before the extra resources are added?
Actually, the app doesn't mess with resources at all. So if you generate, and then load the map into the cartography table, you'll have a clean map. If you then place resources near the starting areas, or wherever, you'll then get all kinds of additional resources when you sta

That map you posted works much better, but I have no idea why. I'm going to need some help on that.

Ok, I have a debug.err file this time, and I think it has relevent information. I should also say that I'm running the game in windowed mode so I can switch easily among different apps for modding purposes. I started up, had no backgrounds, went to cartography table and got two crashes. I'm guessing one for the editor and one for the main app? Dunno, here's the pastebin. http://pastebin.com/7LLD7Myx <div id="_mcePaste" clas

Thanks for the tip Kryo. I went ahead and used CultureInfo .InvariantCulture.NumberFormat. I figure that if the U.S. military is ever overrun by unstoppable giant Swedish death robots, not only would we be forced to receive free healthcare, but it is likely we would also be forced to use commas in our numbers. By using an invariant culture setting, we'll be ready for any political upheavals. The daylight savings change a few years ago hurt me. It hurt me
The difference is the separation-tag for the float values. My OS/language uses a "," for separation while the game needs the ".". This seems to get localized during the output process.
Wow! thanks for finding that. The .NET Framework has a float.ToString() function that apparently knows if you're a European. LOL. Very impressive... but I guess I need to find another way!

As it is now, they seem to be very sporadic, and do not chain together as much as I would expect.
I didn't explain it very well, but you can usually get nice mountain ranges with the turbulence controls. To get a feel for how it works, turn the noise weight down to zero so you can only see the turbulence map, and

Well, I'm doing that with the cartography table, and I'm still getting resources all over the map. It's possible that they count up the resources, and if it's below a certain amount they just add a bunch willy nilly. I absolutely cannot get it under control. The additional props are another thing I'd like to get under control. In fact it would be great if I could just control everything. I'd like to ask one of the Stardock guys if there's a way, but they are probably unbelieva

Well I just tried that, and I still have the problem. Sometimes I've been able to fix it by going to the cartography room, which always crashes when things are in this state, and then after I start the game again it will be ok. This seems to work most of the time, but there were definately times when it did not work.
Hmmm... The maps I downloaded from the Stardock mods don't randomize resources when you load them. I've also gone in and edited them and they stay put. The only thing that doesn't seem to stay put very well are NPCs. I'm not sure what's up with that.
Can you point me to such a file? I'm hoping there's an XML variable in there I can use to stop the random placement.
Agreed that the relentless flow of weak monsters is quite annoying in the late game. I have had times where I devoted one army to nothing but killing the monsters in one small area. Every turn I would wipe out 2 monsters, and then 1 more would spawn.
