Alright. I've got a couple playthroughs under my belt now, and my first impressions and suggestions are below: Champions need to be looked at. While part of my fun in MoM was to build up my champions there and go tearing about the countryside, here it's too easy to build them up. Leveling up traits, while I love them, are too powerful. They need to be looked at for terms of balance. Instead of +3 to a stat maybe +1 to a stat for a common trait. Rare leve

No, Brad... Stardock... thank YOU . Fallen Enchantress rocks . And it rocks hard. THIS is the game I wanted to play. This is the game I hoped Elemental: WoM would be, and why I put so much effort into winning the contest you had to get a free limited edition copy. I didn't want to be a negative nancy when the game came out and it was less than stellar, so I quietly slinked away and tried to enjoy it. And E:WoM did turn out to be ok in the end, but
Ok, I think I see one of the major problems with the Lightning Rod--it's 100% stun for me, not the 60% it's supposed to be.
I will say though, after playing with it some more, the damage for the staves scale nicely with intelligence and shard gains. Not too much nor too little.
I also agree with Arkenor--if the AI doesn't use them, it is unbalancing. As it is, just using the lightning rod, it's pretty unbalanced. Two free stuns a turn? Sign me up! If you made it castable once or twice during combat, then it would be fine (with a small price hike), or maybe 1 + number of air shards controlled. As it is, that staff should be worth thousands! And it unlocked right away, which means I could run around blasting stuff with an autohit stun... even creatures much higher tha
Just wanted to say here real quick that I do have your mod downloaded and installed, and got the vestments to unlock... but I still couldn't wear them with my female sovereign. :-(
I've had it happen in games where I've had four daughters. I married two of them off, and some of the grandchildren came back to join my faction. Not only that, but they were sons of that union too, so when I married them to other women, I kept control of the sons and had new 'daughters' to control as well. I beat the game before their children grew up, so I don't know if it would have reversed again, but marrying off your daughters is not quite as bad as you would think.
One thing is that the shards are always useful--they do increase essence by 10% per shard. It's not much, but when you hit 50 or 60 essence, getting another five or six essence for grabbing a shard isn't a bad deal.
That was brilliant. Took me forever to realize "Oh, I have to MAKE the Mods folder!" but otherwise, it looks sooooo pretty now. :)
I'm working on a large map currently, but a large map is... large. Which means there's a lot of fine detail work and whatnot associated with it, as well as some questions I have on the process which is slowing me down. Next map I make will be smaller, at least until I get the hang of it. I was a bit surprised that there weren't more maps for download though.
[quote who="BoogieBac" reply="123" id="2743265"] But if there's NO plan to provide one (because it's difficult to make, because it's too costly or what have you), then people, we DESERVE to know. Truly random maps are defiantly in the pipeline. We figure there are around 80-100 man-hours left to get them up to speed (they were working pretty well at one point, but got messed up along the way, plus we need that stamp intergration, ways to ensure players d
One game that I played here, it was like 300 turns before I met the Kraxis Empire. I tried to talk to him about dynasties and he just wouldn't have anything of it. A hundred turns later, he calls me up asking if I've a daughter to marry his son basically. To get the diplomatic boost (and I had a daughter I just didn't want to bother try raising up to be a decent channeler), I married her to his son. When I checked my dynasty screen, my daughter was "second in line for the throne of Kr
Fall From Heaven--while a SUPERB mod which I would love to see for Elemental--had the basics to work from already. One needs to keep in mind that SD started from scratch. However, you are completely right. Each faction is, well, boring. I tend to choose influential ones to make my empire expand more rapidly, but otherwise... it's all rather boring. There are no unique items, creatures, troops, or buildings to tell one from the other, save for between Fallen and Human. The more I
I agree, but what I find most lacking is defensive or utilitarian spells. Inspired by Master of Magic this game might be, but flavor and variety it's lacking severely. Anything to help differentiate the elements from one another is nothing but good whether it's through armor penetration, knocking opponents back, or other secondary effects. There are other issues as well with the magic system--as you pointed out, essence recharges far too slowly--but I think if they made each "book" unique and
Alright, as I promised, here are some more examples of spells (among other things). We'll go Air next. Air -- Mobility, mobility, mobility. Level 1 (1 defensive, 2 utilitarian): Wall of Air (creates a 1x3 wall where arrows cannot penetrate, doesn't work on siege weapons), Reveal (although I'd call it something else; as Reveal in the game, but over a wider area), Escape (castable on other units, allows them to escape the battle unharmed, co
[quote who="Clawdius_Talonious" reply="121" id="2736803"]Well I didn't want to take any chances, so I restarted the campaign, so far so good on most things. My first play session I ended voluntarily since release. Caravans and autoturn seem to play nicely, no white screen on every third combat is nice as well, not to mention that it seems a lot easier to select the units you're trying to attack in combat, although the fact that you can only click on the square at their feet and not on the uni
I think it's a little too late for that. They've a system in place, and I think our efforts would be better spent saying "Here is how you can improve your system" rather than "Should have been more like MoM".
Alright, this is going to be an insanely long post, so I do apologize for that right now. I'm going to be as detailed as I can with comments and suggestions, as well as reasoning as to why I think the magic system is so bland. I've been playing Elemental since the very first beta, and I was very excited for its progress. Once it's come out, I've been playing compulsively for hours at a time, through the mem leaks and everything, and there are several problems with the game. Yes, it do
I don't know where people are getting "unplayable", but then again, I have a higher end computer so maybe it's something with system specs not matching up, or people with one particular video card (or other part) that are having problems. I do see where people complain about the lack of content. It's a good game... but I expected more. Maybe I built it up in my head and it doesn't match expectations there. However, just because it doesn't match those expectations doesn't mean it's a b
Yay, thank you! It was really nice waking up to that email this morning. I never win anything by random chance, so it was really nice to have an opportunity to do stuff to win. :D I can't wait for it to arrive now!!
On Spells-- I think more utilitarian spells would be nice, such as Water walk or Air walk. Perhaps I never researched them, or had the wrong spellbooks, but they mostly seem to be direct damage, city buff, and summoning. There are a few personal enchants, or enchants to protect units from enemy casters, but very few utilitarian. I just had a game where I was stuck on an island, and couldn't get a transport to go anywhere. So, I thought, "Well, maybe there's a way to buff units to walk
Yeah, nothing against Gorstagg, but it was really confusing how his links are handled. It was really unclear what he was being awarded points for since it went back to the Elemental: WoM facebook page. So, now I feel half an idiot for submitting stuff that got rejected because I had no idea what he was being awarded points for. (Sorry if this double posts--the forums went boom on me)
Zaldar, what I and TOWDrac have done is print off a logo (which you can get on the elemental page here), and then took pictures with that. If you can, laminate it--it makes it easier to attach it to things (but be sure to get permission first, I got my ears blistered by someone who runs a tourist attraction here for even thinking about temporarily taping something to their attractions) and to hold it on a windy day. After that, we went to various places and took photos. Ashenguar, I believe,

@Autarkhos: It can be a bit embarrassing, this is true, but fun at the same time.
