I pre-ordered SotS II and got burnt out in the beta. It's been a while since I picked it up... might have to go exploring it again soon if they've fixed everything.

Also, don't forget that all of us are framed by our experiences. Humans tend to have their viewpoints skewed based on their own lives and memories, and very few of us have the ability to completely absorb someone else's mindset, to truly imagine what it would be like to be someone else (not just "If I were rich, I'd buy more things" and "If I were poor, I'd buy less things"). It's enjoyable but rough around the edges. The checkpoint saving is the worst offender, but I haven't been burned by that yet. Tactical combat is fun, yet as long as you specialize in anything you should be able to win your fights. The campaign is linear, with a couple offshoots for optional side quests. This is a game where I can nitpick about almost everything, yet I keep coming back to play it. Probably because of the nostalgia factor. Plus the joys of running through
